Double or single stroller?

We're going to be in Disney with our just turned 2 year old and 5 month old in May. My 5 month old hates the stroller and prefers to be worn. My concern is that I may want to put him down at points and if we can leave him in his stroller at restaurants( since he won't be sitting well yet) that would be great. Do you think we should bring a double( and then not be able to bring the stroller to the table when eating) or 2 singles to have the option of bringing the stroller to the table if they allow.

I always have preferred a double over two singles. That way if one parent needs to run off and do something the other is left with just one stroller. I'm sorry but I cannot speak much to the stroller in the restaurant issue, but from what I recall many in-park restaurants do not allow it. Don't quote me on that though.

We used a single for several trips with one stroller kid and one sling baby. It worked out quite well. At that age, my babies hung out in the sling while I ate, but I don't see why your 5 month old couldn't use the stroller at that time while the 2 year old sits in a chair. (At the restaurants that allow it - I can't remember which ones are good for that and it's been a while). I'd suggest that you bring a stroller that the baby could use if needed while the 2 year old walks a little if needed. I mention this because one trip had a very picky 8 month old who could only sleep lying completely flat - so she did use the stroller just for that one nap since it could recline all the way. (During all other trips, the baby of the moment slept in the sling). If the baby did need the stroller, the 2 year old could also be carried during that time if needed - or worn. (Says the woman who ended up having to have a 2.5 year old in the sling after he hadn't been worn for over a year since he refused the stroller and refused to walk).

I'd do either a double or 2 singles. No way would I go to Disney with a 2 year old and baby without a place for them to sit/be/rest etc. As far as eating...what restaurants will you be going to? Some have baby sling high chairs (not many, but Chef Mickey's does) and I'm sure a few others. There are also some restaurants that will allow you to bring even a double in if there's room. - When we went a year and a half ago with my 7 week old and 6 year old, we had a double citi mini gt and the hostess at O'Hana and Crystal Palace both offered us to bring the stroller in with us, which we did. Otherwise, I guess you could try to eat while baby's in the sling or take turns holding him.

Double. It is just easier to handle than if you bring two singles One person can handle the double, but it takes two people to deal with singles. Most restaurants will allow you to bring the stroller in if the baby is sleeping. The rule is generally no strollers in restaurants; however, given the baby's age they may work with you.

We took a double stroller for our 7 year old and 4 year old on their first trip. No way would I carry a kid all through Disney or go without a stroller with one who is still young enough to be carried at times.

I would bring the double just in case. And then, if you have the baby in the carrier, you could use the other side of the stroller for storage. :)

Also, being able to roll the baby into a restaurant is pretty spotty, but I have found that if the baby is sleeping, they will let you bring the stroller in. At least that has been my experience.

I would recommend a double, especially if you're going to be using the Disney bus system. We took a double jogger last time (rented it and had it delivered to the resort the day we arrived) and although it was a bit bulky on the buses, I would hands down prefer wrestling with one stroller instead of two strollers when getting on the bus, especially since one of you will have to hold the baby! If you're going to be using your own vehicle, it doesn't really matter. It may also be easier to only have to push one stroller, even if it is bulky, especially if your baby refuses it. Then you're stuck with two strollers while also having to wear your baby the whole time. Double City Mini Jogger is what we used, and if I remember correctly, it was about $100 to rent it for the week, included a rain shield and whatnot and drop-off and pick-up at the resort.
