My family has the early seating for our cruise next year and it is important to us to eat with our children each evening. However, we also want to be able to try dinner at Palo's. Has anyone double dipped their regular restaurant first and then the last reservation at Palo's? How did that work? Any tips?

We did it the other way. We requested and had the second seating, so we ent to Palo first then took the kids to dinner, well the kids had dinner and DW and I had a small appertizer.

BTW we went to Palo at 6PM.

We've never personally done this, but I know that it's doable. We've had tablemates do it on many cruises. If your family is eating at the main seating, you can go and have a drink and/or and appetizer. Just let the serve know you'll be eating at Palo later so they won't worry about ordering an entree or dessert for you.

Main dinner is at 6:00. Palo is open until 9:00 (and I think until 10:00 on sea days), so you can book dinner there for later. You may have to forego the show that night, or you could book Palo for 7:15 or so, if you'd think that's enough time for the kids to eat. You should be able to eat at Palo with a 7:15 reservation and make the 8:30 show, although it is nice to linger in Palo for a long meal.

As I said on another thread on this topic, there's always something else going on that you're going to miss. There really aren't any bad choices, though. Pick something fun and go with it. There's always next time.....

Sorry forgot to mention, I would suggest that you determine which night for Palo and make a ressie, and you should have no problems.

We have double-dipped on the 3 night Wonder. We had early seating with our group at 6PM, then went to Palo's at 9PM. Unfortunately this was the first night and it was rough seas going thru the gulf stream. DH started to feel the motion and only ordered soup at Palo's. I had ravioli and dessert. It was fun. DH said he suffered thru the meal because he knew I wanted to go to Palo's. That was very galant of him.

We did this on the 7-night Magic cruise last July; all of us went to our early-seating dinner in Animators' Palate, where we TRIED not to eat too much... then the adults went to Palo at 9:00. We were VERY full when we were done, but enjoyed Palo immensely...

DS ordered room service (the tuna is WONDERFUL!!) and we got a cheese plate, ate on the veranda and then DS went to the lab and we went to palo.

Considering you are paying for it both financially and weight wise - you definitely can and should have it "your way"!
