Hi Everyone,
I just returned from a wonderful 5-night Double Dip cruise on the Dream. The tips I learned here really helped to make our first family cruise a blast!
The one piece of advice I'd like to pass along is:
Please check your stateroom charges carefully if you book the 2-day Castaway Cay specials. (You can book discounted rates for floats, snorkeling, or a bike/float/snorkel package on the DCL planning center.)
Our family was charged the package discount rate of $30 something TWICE for every family member. For instance, a snorkeling fee of over $30 per person was charged for Day One at CC. The same charge appeared again on Day Two at CC. Well, it only costs $25 for a regular single day rental & I was now being charged around $65 for my two day "deal." If you multiply the double charges over each person in a family, it really adds up.
It took 2 lengthy trips to Guest Services to straighten this out. The castmember told me that Port Adventures operates separately from Guest Services, and communication about billing is not always the best.
Honestly, we only used the snorkeling equipment once. I would never book the 2-day "deal" again due to the billing issues and the very good chance that our family might end up doing something different (other than snorkeling) on the second CC day.
There seemed to be plenty of floats, snorkels, and bikes available for walk-ups... No need to book in advance as far as I can tell!
I hope this helps someone else. CC is a really beautiful place! We enjoyed every minute in paradise!
