Hello alll..sorry this took so long to post...been busy...well here goe:
Thur Oct 12th- My DW and I fly from Manchester to MCo on Southwest. This was agift from my DW for my 40th B-day...no kids this trip!! Flight went very well and we landed at 11:00PM. DW had gotten a great rate at the MCO Hyatt. We were checked in and in bed by 11:35.
Fri Oct 13th - Up early and went up to the roof to check outy the pool and the view- pretty cool.
Picked up car at Avis and off tp Kona's for breakfast - Great Coffee and Tonga Toast. Service wasn't great but the food was excellent.
Off to Animal Kingdom Lodge to check in early. Our room was ready!
We had a pool view that was perfect for us. Great Resort
I say save the money and do not stay in a savannah room as we saw the animals a bunch in the one day we were there. Relaxed by the pool and enjoyed our day. Off to the Hoop Dee Doo in the evening...Always fun!!
Sat Oct 14th - OFF to the Port! Dropped off DW at about 9:45am with the luggage and went to deop off car. By the time I got back my DW was up near the front of one of the Castaway Club line. Everything went very smooth and we relaxed while the place filled up. We had a #2 boarding pass and boarded the ship at 12:10 PM
We had late dining and after some thought we went to Rocking Bar D to change up our Palo dinner Ressies. We decided to have our Palo dinner on the night of the Pirate Party so we could have enough time to get to the Party and have a place to sit. This ended up being an excellent decision. Enjoyed walking around the ship and stopped off for a drink at Diversions. The two waitresses their, Jessica and Tricia, were excellent and we enjoyed getting to know them as the week went along. Almost late foe safety drill as we unpacked. We had an inside cabin (6315) on deck 6 forward. This was a perfect spot for us all week, we would definitely stay in that area again. Took in a little of the Bon Voyage party and went to Deck 7 Aft to check out the small deck on the back of the ship. This was a nice quiet way to watch and wave at those seeing us off as we made our way out of the channell. Also got a great view of the Wonder as it was going through its paces coming back from drydock.
We ended up participating in a sports trivia contest at Diversions before dinner and we won
OK this is getting long already and here are the highlights by categories:
SHOWS: The shows were excellent although the Golden Mickeys were not quite as good as the other shows. Love Disney Dreams!
Acts: We had fun at all the cabaret shows. Very talented performers and worth trying to make it to the late shows if possible.
Dining: The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. My wife has an allergy to green veggies and they were excellent making sure all was perfect. One time they brought her a plate of grilled shrimp because the shrimp appatizer has veggies in it. The restaurants were all great. Lumiere's is beautiful and elegant. We ate there three times and it was great each time. Animators Palate was fun, especially with the fiber-optic show. Parot Cat was much better this time around and was a fun place to have the characty\er breakfast.
Servers: AWESOME!! Oly was our head waiter and took great care of us. Kendell was our assistant server and wes exceptional. He suggested wines and drinks and was a bunch of fun all week. Also, unlike previous cruises, we were visited by the maitre d', Pierre, every night. we could not have had a better team!
Ports: Costa Maya...YUCK!!!..We were off the ship for about an hour and came back on board and enjoyed the pool area. Cozumel was fun and a great place to walk arond and shop. We had a fun time at Senior Frogs.
Castaway Cay: Loved our two days there. Snorkeled at the family beach and at Serenity bay. Loved the Stingray encounter, very cool. Also enjoyed the lack of crowds for lunch at Serenity Bay. Basically stayed on the island as long as possible both days
Pools: They all seemed very nice but being without the kids this time we loved Quiet Cove Cafe!! We relaxed, read, swam enjoyed the hot tuns and it was never overcrowded as were the other two pools. Very relaxing!
Pirate Party: This was a fun night and we were happy to eat early at Palo and chane and head up to deck 10. we hot a couple of chairs and set up directly across from the big TV. We watched some classic cartoons and noticed it got crowded very quickly. Everyone looked great in their pirate attire and the show was fun and ebnergetic. Mickey came Flying into the fray from right above our heads. The real cool part of the show was the fireworks shot off from the ship...very cool
PALO: Excellent. Dinner was excellent and Corina was fabulous as she was during Brunch as well. The Chocolate Souffle is to die for. Brunch was amazing as well, The amount of food is extraordinary. This is definitely a must do! there was a lady next to us who was visiting Palo for the 18th time!
Other: The Martini tasting was fun. Galley Tour a little dissapointing. Auctions were very entertaining, plus we bought a couple of minor paintings.
Debarkation was very smooth!! We had breakfast at Lumiere's and walked off the ship to the Avis shuttle. We picked up the car and headed to Downtown Disney and was there around 10am. We had decided to buy into DVC on the ship and wanted to check out Saratoga Springs and Boadwalk before heading out. We were treated great as we chelked out a couple of the DVC locations. OFF to airport and home. Flight was great and we were back in our Manchester home by 10pm.
We definitely be back on the Magic. It is a gorgeous ship. We found it more understated and elegamt than the Carnival Glory. Everything was better with Disney!! What a great vacation!!
