:cheer2: :cheer2: HURRAY for Madison:cheer2: :cheer2:

Paul and Lois, I agree about that background. We have never had one taken there becuase it does look like you are standing out in the ocean--odd:rolleyes: But overall the photographers are fabulous aren't they?

Kimberly, daytime BBC is dangerous to your sugar cravings. :headache: "How Clean Is Your House?" and "You Are What You Eat" are just EVIL.....

Okay. I made the time this afternoon to watch the 2 episodes of "How Clean is Your House?". Maybe it was because I was eating my lunch, but the first one I started watching I literally couldn't watch past 4 minutes. I was certain I was going to be making a run for the porcelain throne. I'll spare everyone many of the details, but they had found thousands of cigarrete butts and empty ciggy boxes all over this mid-aged bachelor's house...then the kitchen....well let's just say there was a feast going on with literally hundreds of visible living insects from the big to the tiniest crawling things. OMG how, how, how, how, how can people have a tolerance to live like that?!!

Despite that horrific 4 minutes, I thought I would brave the 2nd episode I had recorded. They are a family of 6 with one daughter who had written into the show begging someone to intervene. She kept her bedroom all nice and tidy, but the rest of the house was horrible. The parents' bedroom even had black mold on the walls that the mom said had been there for about 5 years!!! I nearly turned this one off as well when she said that she's found several dead mice and frogs in her house under clothes that were anywhere from the kitchen counters to the bathroom....but that wasn't where I reached for the remote. It was when she said there was a frog that had gone through the wash which she described saying "that was quite a bother and made me think perhaps I should be a little cleaner".

I kept watching though. They did several bacteria tests. Let's just say it's amazing that these kids hadn't been in the hospital yet! I don't recall what this test was specifically looking for, but they swabbed the tv remote control as it's apparently a good indicator of how much harmful stuff is in the air and on things in the house. The co-host indicated that the count from the swab would be considered past critical if it were up to 500. The count was >9600.

I don't think I'll be watching this show any more, but I have to say I can't help but crack up that these two women come into these homes with their business suits and heels on! Of course there is a whole crew that comes in to do much of the dirty work, but with the conditions of the 2 homes I saw, I would be stripping my clothes off me before I sat in my own car, much less before I stepped foot into my home!

Ohhh, just what's up with the boa cuffed rubber gloves with gems glued to them? I found that touch very funny! In the end, the family of 6 were smiling ear to ear and looking forward to hosting a bbq with friends that they've never had come over before.

Kimberly-told ya! *ugh!!!!* I'm speechless past that point. Those people... wow!

Hello all! I'm sorry I haven't been able to poke my head in and say hello in a while! :guilty: Life has gotten busy busy busy around here! New professional jobs on the horizon (I have an interview on Wednesday!) and house hunting has taken up a lot of our time around here!

Hope everyone is doing well and I'm hoping to be able to poke my head in more often very soon :)

Okay...I recorded "How Clean Is Your House?" and "You Are What You Eat" today, Brandie...Perhaps TMI (but I will keep it PG-13), however she had some really good one-liners! For example, "How can you feel well if you don't move your bowels?" or "You don't have a (whoopee) drive, do you?" (The woman nodded no, btw!)

Just in case you may be giving the same answer, let me tell you something I learned tonight. (Although we don't all have this problem! :rolleyes1 ) Zinc! Eat more zinc!! Apparently it will get those whoopee hormones flowing. Julian got the girl to start eating strawberries and not only did she fit into her wedding dress after 8 weeks, but she was ready for the honeymoon!!! :rotfl2: So if you’re looking to bring home a little Disney souvenir in September, I’ll meet you at the fruit bar! (Oh yeah…this is a mother/daughter birthday cruise. Darn. So I'll look for the evidence....your pile of luscious strawberries.) :lovestruc

I just had to share this quick story with all of you. This weekend, I was telling my 76 year old Grandmother about "You Are What You Eat". I even told her about the strawberries!!! Her response was "Well don't give*ME* any strawberries!" :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: We busted out in laughter!

Hey there, Liz! Great to see ya! No worries...we know you're still on your honeymoon, too!

You might want to check out Post 577 to get you up to speed with a couple of new things since the first of the year. Good luck with the interview!!!

Heather, did your pink eye end its irritation before you left? How did DS feel by the week's end? I hope you all had a great time!!

Thanks for asking :goodvibes
The pink eye was pretty much gone when we left. We had 1 more day of eye drops left while we were gone, so we did the start of our weekend without my contacts. :headache:
But Saturday I could put them back in and life was good again! The weather was wild though. Saturday night, it was two raindrops then the skies opened up & dumped a major downpour...from nothing to STORM in no time flat! Luckily, we were in line for a pretzel & had the cover of the awning! We pulled out our ponchos and ran to the Land for some shelter and to kill some time.

Then Sunday it was FREEZING cold all day! The coldest we've ever experienced at Disney.

But DH had looked at the forecast & we brought warm everything. So we were all good:dance3:

Congrats Madison!!! Very exciting...I know you (and your family!) put many hours into preparation!:cheer2:

Strawberries? What oh what did I miss along the lines? We debate all the time whether or not another *addition* should be added to the family. We got married in the Bahamas, our youngest DS was conceived at Atlantis in the Bahamas...so I'm thinking (just to keep up with our past happy things in the Bahamas) that strawberries will be piled high on my plate...

:rotfl: :rotfl: No laughing out loud when you pass us at breakfast & I'm pink-faced from strawberry dribble on my chin. DH will never know what hit him :wizard:

Hi everyone,:flower3:

I was wondering if anyone has cruised before during the end of September can tell us how the weather was since it is still considered hurricane season. ? .

Thanks

Hi VIKKIGZ,

I went on a 3-night Bahamas this past fall (Oct 4-7). We will actually be debarking on the 4th of Oct. on this cruise. (SOME ppl's birthdays..ahem:cutie: )

While there *was* a tropical system of some sort while we were down there (unorganized tropical depression iirc), it did not affect the weather too much. It was a bit rainy at PC. Temps were low 70's high mid 80's, which is pretty typical for that time of year. Winds were a bit gusty due to the system but nothing major. We were concened our day at CC would be a washout, but the weather was *gorgeous*, bright sun, nice breeze. Beautiful, if a bit hot.

In case there is a tropical system that is in the path of our cruise, or in unsafe to sail through, DCL will re-route the boat. It means we may not get to the ports as scheduled, or on the days scheduled..but they would certainly keep the ship away from the inclement weather.

Heather, eat up those strawberries!!!!! You can tell I've had my share! Even at my "fragile state" I'm not ashamed to admit I have a big fat strawberry shortcake and a huge can of Reddi-whip calling my name in the fridge right now!!!!:o Oooh! Everybody should come down to Plant City for STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL next month! BWahahahahaha!

I know exactly what you mean, about Saturday night....ugh, it wasn't pretty. I didn't even go outside yesterday it was soooo cold:eek: . What was it....40's?:scared1: (As the snow birds shake their heads! HA!):sad2:

Wow, Grand Champpions at Nationals??? That is quite an achievement! Way to go, Madison!:cheer2:

We nearly always cruise in September or October. We did have to steer around a hurricane once (1999), but Captain Tom kept us in calm waters the entire time,. Had the itenerary not changed you would have never known there was a hurricane. We have rough seas twice--two of the three times we did NOT sail in September/October:rotfl2: The Transatlantic crossing last May and the Eastern itenerary CHristmas week of 2000.

We cruised the first week of October in 06 and the weather was great!!! 80+ every day and calm seas. Hopefully, we will have the same this time!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Congratulations Madison!! My DD was a competetive gymnast (she competes now with her HS Varsity team) and I know just how many many hours of practice it takes. You should be very proud of yourself and your team.

Heather, glad to hear your pink eye was better for WDW. Crazy weather. Glad you packed the right clothes, although you can never go wrong with a few more Disney sweatshirts.:laundy:

All 31 days over five years with DCL have been in Hurricane season and we have only had about 48 where the seas were not completely calm. I wouldn't want to cruise any other time. Lois

Have always cruised this time of year and so far never had a problem:worship:

charlie:woohoo:

Ahhhh...strawberries! :lovestruc

Heather, we'll just give you a wink as we walk by your breakfast table! ;)

Jen, go for it girl! That strawberry shortcake sounds SOOOOO yummy!!! I guess we know what you have planned next month!

"SOME ppl's birthdays?" I don't know what you're talking about. :rolleyes1

I've also cruised the very same time period that we'll be down there this year. The itinerary took us from San Juan, the VI, and all the way down the island chain to Barbados. Hurricane Joyce went through the southern Caribbean about a day before we left. The captain changed the itinerary so Barbados was the first island instead of the last, then we worked our way back up north to avoid any potential rough waters. The weather and seas were perfect. The only sign of a storm going through was at one island where the locals had told us that the water wasn't quite as clear as it normally was...but it was still gorgeously aqua and we enjoyed being in it at the beach.

I think I would have had to scrub my eyeballs after watching that. :scared1:

Thanks everyone for all of the congrats messages for Madison. I showed them all to her and she was very excited that you all were happy for her :) .
I have been looking for a fish extender online, but can't find one. What are the dimentions that it needs to be? Does anyone know where I can buy one? I am not what anyone would consider "crafty". My husband bought me a sewing machine for Christmas 3 years ago, and it has yet to come out of the box :rolleyes1 .
