Hello soon to be fellow passengers. I was wondering if anyone has any "inside scoop" of the changes that will be made to the Magic during dry dock. If I looked at the book right, we'll be the first passengers to sail after dry dock.

Right you are!!!! I understand that the Magic may get a splash pool like they put on the Wonder for the littlest ones. I also hear that they are redoing the staterooms. I know that some of the work will be on the general facility like the engine. Of course all of this is nothing more than guess work.

Being the 1st cruise after dry dock I just hope that the biggest part of the work is completed. I do suspect that they will still be working on this and that. Anybody else have any other ideas about what we might expect?

Hello everyone! Just a couple of updates I wanted to share with you to bring to your attention.

  • Today, Jeremy added the Forum Menu as well as the Forums tab across the top to the home page of the website so you can more easily navigate to the various forums and threads. (Thanks Jeremy!) I personally found that I had great appreciation for the flexibility to increase the number of posts and topics I can see on a page. This can be adjusted under the Forum Menu's option of "User Preferences"
  • Post 577 has a lot of updated and new info/links available at your fingertips. So you may want to take a look.
  • There's now a "DDD Family Photo Album" on the DDD website under the General Discussion Forum. Here you may post pictures of yourself or your family so you can be more easily identified when we pass you on the ship. For your convenience, there's even a link to it on Post 577 to get you there.
  • There's also a new Sticky on the General Discussion Forum that lists all our celebrations like birthdays, anniversaries, and so much more.

Hope you all have a great week ahead. I'm anticipating I'll have a hectic one myself, so I'm not sure how often I'll be on the DIS. Good news is that it's a three-day weekend for me next weekend and for many others of you as well, I'm sure!! :woohoo:

Well, I'm off to watch a new "Brothers and Sisters" episode!!!

Hi Everybody. I know I have only posted a couple of times. Just wanted to say hi. I need to check the board more often. I started school again, so I don't have a lot of time to check.

What airport is everybody flying into for the cruise? Is Orlando the best one then rent a car? My kids keep asking me how long. This is going to be a LONG year..

Hope everybody is doing okay.

Drea, glad E got to Iraq. That's cool his tv is still there. Lucky him!

Tonya

In reality only one will be training on ice this week. The other injured her ankle on the ship on the first full day of the cruise--Sunday. We are fairly sure that she tore a ligament. She then got to be in a wheelchair or on crutches for the remainder of the cruise.

Sorry to hear your DD is hurt. to her and hope she is healing quickly. I know how frustrating it can be for them to be active kids and injured. I am hoping my DS can be put in a walking cast on Friday...his walking with crutches using one foot has been a challenge. He's going a little stir crazy not being able to play on his school sports team. I sincerely hope your DD is feeling better and will be able to skate soon.

It's starting to snow here! As usual, the first sign of a snowflake makes my kids start to wish for a snowday. I have to say, I'm kinda wishing for a snowday myself.

So sorry to hear about the injured "little ones" Hope they heal fast! Great to hear we have a capable medical staff sailing with us.

Thanks again, Brandie and Jeremy for all of the work. I do need to get back over there and play.:thumbsup2

Hello everyone. While you were busy posting htis weekend we were being fairy productive in real life instead. Saturday we all went to COncord and got soem shopping done. DH scored big time finding Revo sunglasses he likes on half price clearance and getting two CDs he has bee nwatching for at the used shop. Sunday we carpet teh stairs into the basement. Step one of a long drawn out (for sanity and price sake) process of finishing the basement. While DH and I worked hte kids took advantage of the nice weahter. When they got tired of sledding I pulled the car out of hte garage and they swept out the salt and dirt and then skated and played basketball (we have high ceilings in there and out up a hoop a couple of years ago).

Captain JAck, welcome "home" (not really home, but off the Magic anyway). I hope your DD heals quickly.

Donald and Daisy--I hope your DS gets back into walking on his own again soon as well.

Kimberly and Brandie/Jeremy--Thanks for all you do to keep evryone connected and up to date.

Tonya--Nice to see you. Yes, MCO (Orlando) is hte closest airport. From there you can rent a car, use a towncar or use DCL transfers. All haev their pros and cons.

SNOW!!!!! Donald & Daisy, did your kids get their snow day? All the schools up here in New hampshire are closed. It's winter again:woohoo: and I have to shovel:scared1: I think they have cancelled 4 days already this school year. It would have been more but two of the big storms hit over Winter Break.

LANYARDS--Thanks to so many of you for making nice commnets about the lanyards and the photo of my family. Brandie, I'll get one of all four of us up on the website sometime this week. On our last cruise, the kids and I loved looking through the photos every few weeks and getting to know faces to go with the names.

Good Morning all!

I want to send out Get Well Wishes to those with hurt ankles and in a cast!

Hadley: I love the picture of your family and am so excited to see more info on the Lanyards (thank you Eric and others who are doing all the work on these too)!

Also - I have a request that most of you will think is strange. :confused3 Could you please send some snow our way? Poor Megan has seen snow once in her life, but was so young that she doesn't remember it. I think the last time it snowed here we had enough to make a snow ball man and that was about it. About 2 years ago (or more I don't remember exactly) we bought 2 round sleds to ride down the driveway. They are still brand new without a scratch on them. We would love a little snow storm. Perhaps we could schedule it over a weekend - because it has been so long since we have used a snow day that the school system just takes away our Spring Break to make up for lost days now. Needless to say that has not been a problem losing much or Spring Break either. :rotfl:

I love snow and really miss it! The funny thing is in January, 2000, it snowed 21 inches one storm and that was more snow than I have ever had - even when I lived in Oregon. It closed down everything in town! And the schools were closed for over a week. I was teaching then and had to get to my classroom and take our class pet home to feed it. That was an adventure.

I'll just wait here in NC where it's getting cold again, but not cold enough to snow, and hope we will get at least one snow storm this winter.

Have a great day everyone!

Tiffany

Tiffany...my son is also asking for snow..however, we live in Houston, so not much chance...he is very excited about the upcoming cruise, but has already requested next's year vacation be "somewhere white". We are originally from Florida, so poor kid feels he has somehow been slighted!

Leslie

Hope this finds everyone doing well! Seems like I'm on this board lots & then I fall away for a while. Sorry :goodvibes

We're getting ready for a weekend quickie trip to DW this weekend...Just took DS to the doctor & he's got pink eye, a sinus infection, & an ear infection. Sheesh! Where does all this stuff come from? Anyway--I'm glad we went to the doc today instead of waiting...we can start some antibiotics for the sinus & some drop for the eye and be all better by Friday :)

We even made tie dye mickey shirts for this trip (my 14yo step daughter is coming & we embarrass her any chance we get..."I have to match my PARENTS? Oh my gawd!") The thread here in the DIS board about how to make one is awesome & (if I do say so myself) the shirts turned out SO cute. I'll have to post a pic once we get back of us wearing our matchy-matchy shirts! If you can't match at Disney, where CAN you match? :)

Awe Heather....poor little guy. He certainly should be better in time for your flight though. Good luck with the challenging week you have ahead of you, and I hope he feels better very soon! I hope you all have a fabulous time at the World.

I've heard of someone else mentioning the "recipe" to make the Mickey tie dye shirts. I would LOVE to see the matchy-matchy family!

Tonya (Googles111), I'm glad you stopped in to say hello! I personally have not :scared1: completed my homework on the rental cars. As organized and prepared as I've been, one would think I had that detail worked out already!! So I have several notes about them including their locations in relation to the 2 hotels we were looking at to stay (Country Inns and Raddisson (which just now reminds me I need to cancel my ressie at Country Inns)) and the current reviews on their shuttles to the port, but haven't gotten very far.

Leslie...great to see you!! There seem to be several great destinations for a warm-weather getaway (wow that sounds strange!). I did chuckle at his request though!

Tiffany...I was reading your plea, with a serious frame of mind, and suddenly bursted out in laughter at my desk. I'm sure my collegues were wondering what I was up to. We're getting some light snow showers today, but nothing of accumulation...nonethess, I can try breathing my hot air on the cold outside air to push it your way. A kid needs more than a snowball man afterall!

I must say I am jealous of all of you getting "real" snowfalls. Certainly take advantage of the moment!

Hadley, WOO HOO for Dave! You guys certainly were a busy bunch this weekend. How are those knees and back feeling today?

Mr. Snowbelt King Paul, I know that Jeff (Epperbiker) has some news he can share about a planned enhancement during dry-dock, but I won't take away from his thunder!

Paging Epperbiker! :yay: Paging Epperbiker! :yay:

Mister, you'd better share! *poke poke poke*

*teehee* :duck:

Hey! I want some info too!!! Please!!!

Kimberly and Heather I made one of the tye dye Mickey shirts for our October cruise on the Wonder! What a blast that was and I'm planning on making more before September. I'd love to host a tye dye party! Any takers? Here is a picture of Doug, Minnine and Me and I'm wearing my shirt.

Thanks for trying to send some snow our way. Leslie, I think you're in a place less likely to get snow than us, although I think Texas has had more snow in the last 2 years then we have. I'm glad I made you laugh Kimberly! We actually stuck Mr. Snow Ball Man in the freezer for awhile, but he dissappeared. :lmao: :confused3

Heather - I hope your little man gets feeling better soon. Megan had Pink Eye a week or so ago and we had to hold her down to put the drops in. What fun that was! She has a cold now because she spent all day Saturday outside with her Daddy without a coat. :scared1: I didn't find about it until later in the evening when I was asking her why she couldn't talk and her nose was running. I hope you have a fantastic time at WDW this weekend!

Have a nice evening everyone!

Tiffany

Let me just say...the Spiral Tie Dye Mickey thread on the DIS board rocks & our shirts came out so dang cute! :) I'll post a pic next week after we return from the World with all of us wearing our shirts...

Oh, the eye drops. It was all I could do not to cry myself at DS being so scared of them. We finally got them in tonight without having to hold him down, but we've got 5 days/2 times per day/3 drops per time to do these. My poor baby! I put a drop in my eye to see what they feel like...if it burns or whatever...so I'd know what he's going through.
Lucikly, they didn't burn. I think it's just scary..especially when you're 4!

In case anyone else is interested, the link to the how-to tie dye Mickey thread is:
http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1210609

LuvTheEars--great shirt!! We're making some for the cruise too for sure!

Hadley...were we disappointed this morning...just alittle bit of snow, not even enough to shovel as it all melted away during the day (which I am grateful for, the not shovelling, of course!!) My son's first words today was "Mom, is it a snow day?"....:sad2: He did have a great day at school though...since it had snowed and everyone's shoes were wet, needless to say the floors in school were wet. As we all know, crutches and wet floors do not mix well. He was given a wheelchair and his book buddies had to push him (or race him) to every class. Boys!! He did say that he understands now how hard it is for people in wheelchairs so at least he has a better appreciation it. With that said, I am sending snow wishes to you Tiffany. Maybe magicfor2 can send you some of their snow too. Heather...I hope your DS is feeling better...pink eye on top of an ear and sinus infection is horrible. I'm sure he will be better for WDW.

BTW...I am trying to remember everyone's name for their screenname so I apologize if I mess it up every now and then. We are Donald & Lee Ann, with me, Lee Ann, doing most of the writing. :lovestruc

Tiffany, I love your shirt. We had iron-on designs last year for our shirts which Pat from the creative DISigners helped me make. We might try these for this trip.

Kimberly, You are right the info did not line up. This is because I am a dad and don't keep track of our friend's kid's ages as well as I probably should. I talk to my wife and here are the facts.

I did get my kids right (DD 9 and DS 6).
Friends 1 = 2 adults and 1 kid (DD 7)
Friends 2 = 2 adults and 2 kids (DD 8 and DS 5)
Sister in law 1 = 2 adults and 1 kid (DD 8)
Sister in law 2 = 2 adults and 1 kid (DD 6)

Sister in Law1 is the one with connecting room to ours and I gave you their names in my email. Sorry for the confusion. If you want the names again, send me a message or email and I will try to clear it all up.
