Maybe you guys can help me out.

Am I correct in understanding that the maximum number of people allowed per stateroom (catgories 5-12...excluding 6080, of course!:rotfl2: ) is FOUR?

That **IF** you have a fifth person....even if its a baby (even if it's a teensy weensy tiny baby cough cough;) ) that you have to either book connecting staterooms or bump up to a suite category?

If thats the case, we may have a dilemma on our hands. And I guess for now, Kimberly, you can add an infant to our stats. If we do end up staying on the cruise, there will be 5 of us, not 4!!! :cheer2: :woohoo:

Congratulations!

OK, who posted that there was a room open in cat 5? I remember someone said their TA had a cat. 5 open.......I can't seem to find the post now in the pages and pages and pages :rotfl: maybe it is still open??

*wave* That would be me.

But I think she needs a Cat4 to replace her Cat 5, or 2 Cat 8 or 9's, right?

There are also Cat 6 and 8's available... That would be painful, but it would get you on the boat, right?

I will board the ship wearing a shirt with our logo, but will leave wearing this:

I hope it's ok I saved the graphic to my computer. I just love it. I think we all need to wear them. It would be just too funny.

Congratulations!

I believe that the most any room will hold cat 12 to cat 5 is 4 people and many of the rooms only hold three. You need to be Cat 4 or above to have more than 4 people in a room. Hope this can get worked out but this cruise is really filling up fast. Maybe a call to DCL will turn up some options.

Another issue is the age of the infant I believe they need to be 12 weeks at the time of sailing in order to cruise. Then you will need to get a passport and that need to be done after the birth. I was trying to get my daughter who is due 5/5/07 to consider coming but I got a resounding NO. Lois

Oh well, I thought it was cat 5 and up..........hopefully they can find a solution for you !

Tiffany--LOVE the departure shirt:lmao:

Jen--DCL doesn't really care WHERE you sleep (or how many in the room) after you are on board (or so I have been told). So, if you feel you can get thw passport, etc., worked out in time an option might be to add the baby to the reservation of a friend who has only two in their stateroom. Then, once on board still have everyone sleep in your room from your family. Did I explain that in a way that makes sense?

still working on the craft'ers club logo!!! *again I cant take much credit LOL just some. Found the logo and just did a lil altering!!!* Its what I do best!

Good Morning all!

The link I posted is from Pat's designs and I'm pretty sure she puts them out for anyone to use! Everyone who makes a shirt will have to get together the last day and get a picture to send her as a Thank You! And if anyone asks we just need to give her credit for the design! I'm going to order printabel iron on transfers and make the shirt myself (there is some info about this on the Creative DISigns board). I'll let everyone know what I used or help anyone out who needs this.

Drea - I've been thinking about you and I love to see the book club logo!

Jen - I love Hadley's idea of booking the baby (or one of the other kids) in another room! I would book someone in mine, but I have 4 already in a cat 10! I can talk to my friend Kevin who is in a cat 5 by himself to see if he can help you out? I think the only time someone would need to be with him is during the life boat drill. The only problem is that would mean a full cat 5 fare. Although the baby would be free right? Is that still true in a single occupied room? :confused3

YES!!!!!!!
:) :) :) :goodvibes

I may have missed some of the earlier posts, but am I to understand that you are pregnant and are planning on going on the dd in sept 2008?

My wife and I just found out she is pregnant too (just before we went on our last cruise last week). I did not want to rebook because I did not know how much fun it would be to go to CC 2 times with an infant.

Is this your situation too?

What are you plans?

Any suggestions on how to have fun with an infant?

Jim

As you may have read, my wife wants to go on the sept 2008 double dip with our not even here yet infant baby. If our calculations are correct the baby will be 4 months old or so by then. The question is...How do I get a passport for the infant. I have heard it could take 3 months.

This is only 1 of my concerns about taking the baby on the cruise. I am open minded, but I have my concerns.

Looking for suggestions...

Jim

I guess I am the only 'Double Dipper' awake and I don't have children! Hopefully some of the parents of young-uns will wake up. Congrats on the new addition to-be!

This is true. Once on board you can sleep in what ever room you want. So you can book the infant in one room and have them sleep in another. I don't know about cost you can try to book a ressie on line with 1 adult and 1 infant and then have it break the cost down at the end and see what it says. With passports you may need to pay the extra to have a rush put on them.

Congrats. I think it will be fine to cruise with a baby as long as you are OK in rotating your life around the babies needs. May need to leave the shows or to take a rest from time to time but babies can be more flexable than the older kids at times. Lois

Congratulations to you and your wife too!

From what I am hearing Passports are arriving as quickly as 4 to 8 weeks without the extra cost to rush them. Who knows what it will be like next year. I would think if you put a rush on the baby's passport it would arrive in pleanty of time.

As far as CC 2 times, With the umbrellas and the fact that the only people there are from the ship, I think it would be better than a stop somewhere else. I did see quite a few babies on our 3 day last week and they seemed happy to be there. My kids are older (4 and 7 currently) so, this is only my opinion. :)

We'll try and leave you some Mickey bars! *grin*

Do you think the May PC cruise will tide you over until this cruise? I'm already jonesing to cruise NOW... You're lucky with 15 days on the boat! :thumbsup2

Brandie

we have a 4-night on the Wonder for Halloween, but thats a warm up for the PC repo. my wife won't let me off until she has another booked. :scared1: :scared1:

Thanks everyone for the great ideas.....
We will seriously consider finding a stateroom that could accommodate one of our younguns for paper purposes. I've already had some offers!!!!! I wish financially we could afford a Cat 4 or higher category connectors just to have the extra space, but right now that doesn't seem feasible. This sounds like a great option, and we are certainly considering it very seriously!!!:thumbsup2

And I'm glad that was mentioned about the passport...I hadn't even *thought* about that! Hopefully by next year the Passport office will be all caught up on their backlog and a rush application should go through....

Jim, congratulations to you too....what is going on onboard those ships!! I should be due around the 10th of June or so....making the 12 weeek minimum will be very close! If anything I will probably be induced early, however as I am pretty high risk (ABO/RH sensitized, hyperthyroid w/ graves disease). We do certainly plan on trying to keep this particular cruise booked. I think it will be your family's personal preference whether or not you wanted to change iteneraries. I would imagine a long day on CC may possibly be difficult with an infant....but you never know. We were already planning on spending one day at CC as the "traditional beach day", and were thinking about spending less time on CC the second of the two days ...maybe just a couple of hours riding the bicycles. Plus those two CC days would be good days to spend doing-on ship activities (ie pools) with much less crowds than the at sea days. And I really don't mind if I have to go back to the ship with the baby....DH Ron is very concerned that we won't be able to have "as much fun" as we would have, now that we will have an infant, but I think it will be much less of a hassle and burden than he is afraid it might be. I haven't used their services yet, but I've read on the boards the Flounder's reef nursery is fantastic, and only $6/hr, which I think is very reasonable. Like Tiffany I also saw a few babies - including one very tiny one that had to have been just over 12 weeks old - on our cruise. Is this your first child? If so, then it might be more of an adjustment for you but I think it's almost the best age (for an infant) to cruise...at 3 to 4 months the baby should be sleeping through the night but is not yet mobile enough to wreak havoc on your stateroom! Whatever you decide, congrats and best wishes to you & your family!:goodvibes

Jen and Jim--I do think a call to the passport agency is a good idea. I am thinking (but I may well be wrong here--we were not rushing to get either of the kids' passports as infants so we had time to wait on everything and did not chceck specifics) that you will need the baby's SS# and also the certified birth certificate from the state in order to apply for a passport. I seem to recall that the SS# and also the birth certificate did not come for a few weeks. So you may need more time for all the paperwork than you think. And you would be hasseling with all of that with a newborn in tow (not to say you shouldn't do it, just something to think about). Also, find out who does infant passport photos before you have the baby so you don't end up driving all over town trying to get one (we made that mistake on Rio's passport. Most places that take the photos do not take them for infants--it is hard to get them in a way that meets the guidelines). Best of luck on making a decision and once again congrautlations on htose new littel ones to be:thumbsup2

Oh no....that's right SSN's..... Yikes. :scared1:
I guess I'm just hoping that somehow the government will postpone the passport requirement for cruising again! :rolleyes1
Thanks for letting us know that Hadley, I didn't think of it.....or the picture thing too. I'm actually starting a new bid next week at work and one of my new duties will be Passport Clerk so I'm sure I'll find out all the little details and in's and out's of applying....(and can hopefully process my own so I won't have to go wait in line anywhere! hee hee!) ;)

Good luck on getting your new position:wizard: and you are welcome. I was just trying to remember how long it took to get Rio's done and what all we waited on (we didn't even apply for Marika's until she was 8 months old so not applicable here). I know we did all the paperwork for the BC and SS# at the hospital (so it was submitted by the day after he was born) and I know we applied for the passport the week we had both of those items (I cannot for the life of me remember which took longer). I think he was 3 1/2 months old when we applied and 4 1/2 or 5 months when we got the passport. BUT we were not trying to have it by a specific date and did not request a rush on anything. Also his bday is December 22 so there were holidays in there which may have slowed the SS# and BC dow na bit.
