I think one of the most vexing parts of the change is the fact that it removes the gratuities for the wait staff....because the DP guaranteed that they would always make at least an 18% gratuity on the meals they served....and the flexibility of the DP meant that people might be able to order things they wouldn't otherwise afford.

Good points. I confess I had not thought of that part. It was nice knowing that tip was automatically included & we didn't have to worry about it.....

DH and I were just talking about the DDP issue. We are a little torn - although we don't like the increase, and probably won't do it that way - we found that we spent about $50 more per day on our last two days at AKL without the DDP. We ended up eating at BOMA twice and Le Chefs de France once. Over 7 days, that would be $350 saved - on the other hand, we would probably be just as happy to eat less and share a plate - we also didn't like having to plan our days around our ADRs -

I guess we'll have to outweigh the time driving off site with paying a little more for meals I just don't know :confused3 I bet the numbers will go down, and they will try something else again.

We used the dinning plan last year and LOVED it  We were a party of 21 and we even had Snack left over we didnt get to use..

I hope the Cast Members dont get short changed too bad.. I know people that tip minimum if any at all.. I was a waitress at Friendly's Iceacream.. Try waiting on a group of Teenieboppers.. Run arounf back & forth for water and soda refills only to be left with 20 cents..

DH & I always tip at least 20%

I am with all of you! I loved the DDP the way it was...........hopefully there will be enough complaints and they will change it back !!!

Hello fellow Double Dippers.........I just wanted to share with all of you that I am officially a Mouseketeer now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a geeky quote joke for Unix people (of course lifted from bash.org's quotes, with a bit censored):

While I work on the images to try to get a logo put together...I'd love to have a clean copy of the ones you created. Would you mind emailing me the files as jpg or whatever format they're in? My email is elibey@rochester.rr.com

Thanks!

Well I'm going to be lazy and ask.... Is there an agenda somewhere on any of these pages for our Double Dipper? I thought there was one somewhere but now I can't seem to find it.. and I really do Not want to have to start from page one and work my way to this page :scared1:

Thanks

Oh and I saw the 1st page 1st post.. it needs to be updated.. But I wasnt sure if there was another one with not just cabins but plans and meets..

I think even our website is out of date. I know I haven't yet been added to the list of cruisers.

Hi Stacy. I booked on board for me and Diane. Cat 9 on deck 2 with a porthole for the 9/27/08 cruise. There were no secret porthole rooms left in cat 10 so I booked 9.
Having a great time in our cat 7.

Okay, so I have been trying to catch up on all the posts that started WAY back in FEBRUARY!!!:confused3 But, it has been kinda of hard since I only get a chance to get on the computer for a little while each day. Anyway, please forgive me if there have already been long discussions about the questions I am going to ask

1. Is the schedule on the Double Dip the same as the schedule on the regular Western cruise as far as Formal, semi-formal and pirate nights? If it is different, do we know what it is?

2. Are there any Diser plans scheduled for the cruise (meets, gift exchange, etc.) or is it still too early to be thinking about stuff like that:)

3. Where can I find a full schedule for the kids clubs that includes hours of operation?

4. I have the "romance at sea" package included in our cruise. Is it true that with that package we are able to book Palo 105 days out?

That is all for now. Again, I am sorry if these Q's have already been asked, but I was unable to find the answers, even using Search.

Day/Port

Saturday: Port Canaveral
Sunday: Castaway Cay
Monday: At Sea
Tuesday: Costa Maya (we hope)
Wednesday: Cozumel
Thursday: At Sea
Friday: Castaway Cay
Saturday: Port Canaveral

I have an alcohol question (you all seem open to that sort of stuff):thumbsup2 .

We cruised last Dec (non-DCL :scared1: ) and I bought a bottle of liquor while on the ship. It had been 30 years since I bought any of the hard stuff, so I guessed. I saw Bacardi 151 rum, looked pretty good, so I bought it. Yuck. I did not like it at all and do not want to repeat that mistake.

We are going on another cruise this Dec (non-DCL again :scared1: ). I want to buy something good, any suggestions? I like rum, tequilla, that sort of liquor, if that helps. Anything not too sweet. Thanks!:)

Hey there, everyone! There were a few recent posts that I can briefly provide comments on (I only have a few minutes...so I'll try to be more thorough later if needed).

  • Post 1 on Page 1: There are sooooo many of us that it's impossible for us to update one post. Therefore, I've been maintaining a spreadsheet database. Furthermore, we haven't heard from the OP of this thread for several months, so unforutunately we cannot modify the post to even state updates to the Roll Call list can be found on our website.
  • Our DDD Website: The original plan was to have me maintain the database, and provide the updates to brady961 (Marsha). It has not been updated since it was originally posted (which I think was late May or early June). Without getting into too many personal details, Marsha asked me a couple of weeks ago to have someone else maintain our website. I assured her she should not feel bad for not being able to maintain it. Therefore, I'm working on getting someone to create a new site for us. So while the topic is out there, if any of you are website developers, feel free to let me know if you would be interested!! I think I have someone to help us, but I'm not 100% sure yet.
  • DISer Events: ANC22, we absolutely are never too early to start discussing and planning activities!!!! :rotfl: I hope this means that you're in this trip with us! As people have been joining the thread, I've asked if they have interests in several different things we've spoken about throughout the life of this thread. Please check out post 577 or the outdated website (links are both in my signature block) to see a consolidated list. There have been a few more ideas that are not on there yet, like an informal DIS Meets at the Raddision PC on 9.26.08, a Secret Mickey exchange, and a DIS tie night. So I've been maintaining the lists of interests as well as taking note of those who are volunteering to organize "things". :) It will greatly help all of you to see this once we get a new website up!!

Michele! How exciting that you're enjoying your cruise *at this very moment*!!

Welcome, welcome! Looking forward to getting to know you and Diane more! Feel free to check out Post 577 (in my signature block) to see if there's anything more you want to share about yourself with the group for our Roll Call and Activity Interest lists!

Kimberly, I'll hit up DH to see if he'll lend a hand for the website. Two birds, one stone, kinda thing for me. Let's see how long he can outlast the pull of getting excited about the cruise!!! *queue wicked laugh here*

I am not a web-setter-upper by any means, but I can help with input once it is created and someone lets me know what to do. I do have the time at this point.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: Hubby is already starting to set something up (10 minutes after I asked him if he wouldn't mind helping out). I passed him the old website's URL after he asked what I wanted.

Speak now about any improvements you have on your wishlist. Bear in mind we can add privacy to certain sections, too, if you want to have a picture gallery or a discussion forum.

Would DISDoubleDip.com work for everyone?

Brandie
