I hope the ending journey with D goes well tomorrow. Know that you and David have done an awful lot of positive things for him in the few days that he’s been blessed to have your family in his life. Through your stories, he’s certainly touched me, and you’ve absolutely been a positive example to observe in the challenges you’ve been faced with recently. I was telling my mom about him and you & David's generosity this weekend, and it put her to tears. Again, thanks for sharing your experiences with us and reminding us of how fortunate we are.

Aww aren't you sweet. I will have a few more stories that I just have to share and didn't have time/energy to type over the next few days (just two or three more--I promise). Tonight when I was packing up he came in all teary eyed and hugged me as tight as his little 43 pounds could and said "I'll miss you Hadee" which totally melted me and made all the stress worthwhile.

Well, my mom was such a help this weekend! We got a lot of fishing accomplished! My arm's a little sorer than it was on Friday, but it's tolerable.

I thought I would post a few of the fully assembled Fish Extenders that we worked on the last two days. I'm so proud of them, yet I'm seriously going to have a challenge deciding which one I want!! I have lots of ideas in my mind that haven't even been executed yet, so we'll have to see what fishy mood I'm in as we get closer! This excercise made me just {------------------this much---------------} more excited about going now!!

Please accept my apologies in advance for the ridiculous size. I’ve tried literally a dozen times to resize, previewing, and trying again, and it’s just not cooperating with me tonight....and I DO know how to do it!

OK...so some of you know that the past couple weeks have been a little rough in Jason and I's lives....but as you probably all know, negatives are very often balanced out with positives in life (it's that whole "one door closing and another one opening" phenomenon! ).....and one thing I've noticed about this lively group is that we enjoy sharing our inspiring stories and good things happening in our lives, etc.

Anyhow...something good DID happen for me recentlly so I'm giving myself permission to brag about myself for just a moment .....

Below is a link to a story that was written up about me in our main Rochester newspaper today. The paper was doing a feature who give back to their community and whose efforts inspire community activism and volunteerism. I think it's a pretty nice piece and I'm pretty proud of the article and the fact that they chose to profile me..... so I thought I'd brag a little!

Kimberly is the unofficial fish extender queen for this trip! Those are way cool! Lots of people change their door magnets daily....you can change your fish extender daily, Kim!!

I so want to make a new one for Jason and I, but I can't rationalize it yet...I figure I spent so much time making our gigantic super extender that I should at least get 3 or 4 uses out of it before I bag it and make a new one! (And Deanna....I assume that Chris and Rob have turned you on to the mystique of the fish extender....and so you'll need to start working on one soon!!! )

Also, Kim, thanks for agreeing to post the link to the webpage. I knew that Marsha had been very busy and so hadn't updated it recently...but also hadn't been posting much so probably there were folks who would want to see it....and I didn't want poor Marsha to feel like we were pressuring her to focus more on the DIS and less on the real world (although why any of us bothers with the real world anymore is still a mystery I'm trying to figure out! ) Anyhow....I know we're still FOREVER away from the cruise...but as it gets closer, the website, and specifially the roster/list there, will be an important tool because THAT is what I'll use to determine how many of our lanyards to order and what nametags to make. So everyone should make sure that you do email Kimberly and/or Marsha your info and make sure that the correct spellings of the first names of everyone in your cabin(s) are listed there.

(Also, remember we're still looking for a few more volunteers who are willing to help chip in to cover the cost of the lanyards for everyone...a small group of us will all split the cost and then EVERYONE from this thread (almost 300 people at this point?!?!?!?! ) will get one for free. For those of us who wear them on the boat they're useful to carry your ID and key to the world card adn also for identifying other DISers while out and about on the ship....but even for those people who don't use them (Dave, Chris, Rob, etc. ), they still make cool souvenirs! If you are interested in helping contribute, PM Hadley (NHDisneylover).

No problem at all with putting the link out there. I have high appreciation for convenience! You're correct that Marsha has been busy with the real world, but more importantly, she recently got back from a cruise and has another one two months (I believe it's 2)!!!! So no doubt she's with us in spirit dreaming of our Double Dip!

I also thought I would add to your comments about the lanyards/name tags and the relation to the "master rollcall list"......

Many of you have neighbors, friends, and family members joining your family on the cruise, so I only have them labled as (DISer's) Mom, Dad, BIL, Sister, Grandma, Grandpa, Friends, etc. Don't forget to submit their names as well!! Talk to them about some of the activites we've spoken of too. I'll keep track of their potential interests in the database just as I have yours (see post 577 link below for a list of the most popular ideas that you've all presented). As volunteers get closer to organizing some group activities/projects, we want to ensure your entire party is a part of the fun!

If you are newer to our Meets thread and have no idea what I'm talking about or if any of you have questions about all of this "tracking", certainly feel free to reach out to me.

I checked the summer concert series in hopes that we would be there in time for Bjorn Again (ABBA tribute band that I love, because I am a sad, sad person) but we are missing them by ONE DAY! Ah well. At least I've already seen them about 10 times, right?

I'm just checking in and there's a lot to catch up on. A few days = pages and pages of posts.
We were allowed back into the flooded side of town after two weeks. What a mess! Everything is covered with mud and oil. The inside of the church had 6-8 feet of oily water in it. There's an oil slick line on the walls. There is mold everywhere. The pews and pianos are tossed around like pick up sticks. The refrigerator is on it's side. The smell is bad, even with a mask on. My DH and I both are sick from breathing that stuff. We salvaged a few things, a cross, a clock, a Bible that floated on a table. We are meeting in a car dealership for the time being until we find out what can be done.
Lots of people lost everything, the Red Cross, Disaster Relief and National Guard are in town helping out. I can only imagine what it was like with Katrina.

Hadley: You have a wonderful daughter who obviously loves you very much. It was a wonderful story to share; thank you!

In addition, thanks for the pointer to Flight of the Navigator, but I still haven't forgotten that movie from the daily endless watching when my siblings were younger. I will NEVER watch Peter Pan again! I also know all the words to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles because it was on the same VHS tape as Navigator. I can even point out which uncostumed actor is which turtle... There's 8 and 10 years difference between myself and my brother and sister... Fiona's getting a little psycho about watching her LeapFrog movies over and over right now, but those I can deal with, because she's trying to figure out how to read and count.

Erik & Jason: Thank you for sharing the article. It was inspiring to read about how much you get accomplished in a day, and all the good things you do for the community! Please let me know if you ever pass through Denver or even San Francisco--I'd love to introduce you to some people.

Also, with regards to the lanyards, I don't think everyone needs one. For instance, the 3 and under crowd shouldn't have them. As in, I still don't trust Fiona with things around her neck. She also is still popping everything in her mouth, so no beads in the house, either. Granted, it might be more paperwork. She'll get a wristband for the Oceaneer's Club, anyway, and won't get charging privileges.

I second this, and urge you to take care in all that unhealthy sludge. Suit up, and wear gloves, boots, and so on!

Do you have clean, running water already? You mentioned the National Guard, so I assume they're getting the basics back up and running.

Oh my...I'm so sorry, Chris. I'll say a prayer for all of you to find the strength to get through it all. My brother lives in Kansas, but fortunately they are further north and didn't have to endure the natural disaster.

You and your DH take care of your health so you can be physically stronger to clean things up.

There's no water or electricity yet. It's pitch black inside because all the windows are covered with crude oil. All I can think of is the Dr. Suess book, The Cat in the Hat, when it says, "This mess is so big and so deep and so tall, we cannot clean it up. There is no way at all." At this point, we are just trying to salvage what we can, and inventory the rest. It is so hot, that we can't do too much at a time. We still don't know if they will condemn the building or even let us rebuild there.
