"Double Dip Delight" Alternate Western 09/27/08

The only MVMCP advice I have is to bring warm clothes. The temp. drops pretty low late at night that time of year. We brough seatshirts and jackets and wore pants (strated the evening slightly warm in pants and a t-shirt). By 10:00 we had everything on and lots of other people were shivering in their shorts and MANY left early becuase they were cold.


Today is the 20th aniversary of the release of The Princess Bride. After Dave and I got over the shock of being so darned old, we decided we had to all watch it tonight! So, we are enjoying a great little flick with popcorn and fruit and Dave's yummy choclate filled rolls are in the oven now. Not as good as a cruise, but about as good as home gets

I think the best part of The Incredibles is the Jack Jack cartoon.

I was supposed to be on the Med Repo but failed to make that magic happen for myself I have heard so much about thier trip, and all of you, I can't wait to meet you all!
I have been on one cruise so far, in Sept 2006 and have since booked my second cruise in Feb and have also booked my third--the Double Dip!

I'm going to DisneyWorld in November for the first time since I was 7. It's been now 20 years and I'm just dying to go!
I am a massage therapist, like Chris and Rob, and have been going to DisneyLand often for the past 7 years. I have a boyfriend (Jason) who just loves Goofy and I am a Tinkerbell fan as well as Beauty & the Beast. I have most all of the Beauty & the Beast WDCC pieces. If any of you know how I can get my hands on the long retired Rose sculpture--let me know!
Well, again, I am new to all of this--DISboards, threads, being online on a regular basis...I hope I can keep up with all the activity!

I'm Brandie, and I'm bringing my daughter, Fiona (who will be 3 on the cruise), and my Mother, and dragging along my hubby. He doesn't vacation voluntarily. My family is all types of geeks, including the 2 year old! Fiona has her own Mac that she can use better than her parents!

Oh, by the way, I don't think I've ever introduced my Mom! Mom likes motorcyles and reading. She's a sysadmin, and taught me about computers since all I could do was push in the chips. Now that her kids are all out of the house, she's footloose and fancy-free! I can't wait to introduce her to joy of a drink of the day! *grin* She only has 2 grandchildren right now, a boy and a girl (my Fiona). She also just graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor's degree, so we're tickled pink. We actually ran down to Little Rock to watch her graduate. Pretty neat.

I need to ask Mom what her name is for here. Fiona hasn't settled on anything for her other than "Grandpa." Evidently, her grandfather's Big Red Truck means the most. My mom's Prius can't compete!

Yes, I will be cruising in Feb with Jason, of course Chris and Rob, and also with my Mother and my Grandmother. It will be my Mom's second cruise (she was with Chris, Rob and I in Sept of 2006 on the 7-day western).
She completly fell in love with it all, has rebooked, and is now taking her mother along! This will be my Grandmother's first disney cruise!
My Mom has also booked her third as well on the Double Dip with my Dad and all of us! This will be my Dad's first Disney cruise too. He's been on other cruise lines, and yet to be impressed...so I hope Disney can win him over!
As for November, I am SO SO SO excited, yet a bit overwhelmed. All the planning, reservations, organization, and strategy involved....Geez! Everytime I think about it or sit down to get further organized I have to take 15 minutes to re-group and figure out what happened--and what's gonna happen! But I can't wait! As you said it will literally be "a whole new world" for me! And it will! From being a kid and barely remembering it to now--I can throughly enjoy myself!

Oh my now I'm confused! Is that whole clan coming on THIS Double Dip with us? Or just you, Jason, Mom and Grandma? And dad is going on a different cruise with your family? If everyone's coming on this specific cruise---then wowzer ---that's a big bunch! I'm trying to convince my parents that we should all go on a cruise together (although not necessarily this one)but my mother is not convinced yet!

Before you go to the site, just be aware that Marsha (brady961), who created the DD website, hasn't had the chance to make any changes since she initially put the site up many many weeks ago. So she has a boatload of updates and pictures that some of you have sent me via the DD Hotmail account to put up on the website. That is my all-time favorite movie! Only SLIGHTLY behind that is Big Fish. We saw Harry Potter this weekend which was great - they managed to turn a fairly difficult book into something worth watching. We also saw Knocked Up, which, if you have not seen it, I HIGHLY reccomend. It's not the stupid humor that it appears to be in the previews....there is alot of stuff about relationships and what-not that is good to see. Lionel gave me a big hug when we got home and said "thanks for being you."

Welcome Deanna!

Well, Sarah, Lionel and I are having a blast so far. We did Magic Kingdom yesterday and finally got to see the new Monsters Inc show (which was great). Tomorrow we are going....somewhere....either MGM or Epcot, I think. And Thursday is for Animal Kingdom!

I just have to post about what a GREAT daughter I have. David had to take a 6:00 a.m. flight to Detoirt today. Although he was pretty darn quiet and never turned on any light, I still awoke as he was getting ready for his 4:00 a.m. departure to the airport and I could not get back to sleep. SO, by the time I got home with the three kids at 6:00 tonight after a busy day of blueberry picking and the beach I was pretty tired. I needed to feed everyone, pack all of D's things (he has to be at McDonald's to meet the bus at 7:00 tomorrow), make sure the boys get baths etc. I headed up to Rio's room to put away D's sandals before we could forget about them and discovered that D had wet the bed last night and did not tell me (embarrassed I am sure--Rio had issues with this until about a year ago so I am very sympathetic to this). I actually checked for wet sheets every morning for the first week but then figured it must not be an issue with D if he made it through an entire week away from home and on a weird schedule. SO of course now I had to launder the sheets, jammies, etc and get a bed done up before 8:00 while trying not to upset D that I know. In comes Marika and sees me getting the laundry ready. By the time I came out of the luandry room she had the boys dressed in hiking vests and straw hats and making toliet paper tube "binoculars." They were preparing for a "safari" (she also had stuffed animlas spread all over the house) and wanted to know if they could set up a "camp" in Marika's room with sleeping bags just for tonight (big wink from Marika here!). She even got them excited to bathe in the "watering hole" (tub with plastic frogs and lizards in it). She totally took care of the boys (who had a blast) for me so I could get dinner and pack. Could there be a more awesome 10 year old? Oh and my house is a disaster and I am to tired to deal with it tonight, I will post on the DIS instead--SO THERE--I want a house steward<pout>.

Erica--Posting photos from the world is so unfair. I want to be there too. It looks like you are having a very nice time. Also, I have never seen Big Fish, maybe I should add it to the ol' Netflix cue?

What a kind, sensitive, and compassionate young lady you have there! You have a right to be very proud of her!

I hope the ending journey with D goes well tomorrow. Know that you and David have done an awful lot of positive things for him in the few days that he’s been blessed to have your family in his life. Through your stories, he’s certainly touched me, and you’ve absolutely been a positive example to observe in the challenges you’ve been faced with recently. I was telling my mom about him and your & David's generosity this weekend, and it put her to tears. Again, thanks for sharing your experiences with us and reminding us of how fortunate we are.
