My stepdaughter is 13 and was ALWAYS the biggest on her teams for EVERYTHING. She's over 6ft tall now and as a little kid, everyone always assumed she was in the wrong leagues! Even now, people assume she's 18. Luckily she loves every sport & her height is an advantage ;)

I see my DDs futur in these stories she is only 5 and people think she is 7 or 8. She is a head taller than anyother kid in her Kindergaten class. Of course I 5' 10"

That's so funny...I'm only 5'2" so my stepdaughter passed me up LONG ago!

The first time we took my two step kiddos to WDW, she was only 5 but was WAY tall enough to ride every single ride. Rockin Rollercoaster was her favorite...at five!

My DS is a shortie for his age, and although (as my husband says) he has "balls of steel that throw sparks when he walks", he is just BARELY 40 inches which is tall enough for Tower of Terror (his FAVORITE ride in the world) and Splash Mountain. But not Space Mountain or Rockin Rollercoaster...he sooooo wants to ride them :)

But yes, it's a funny dynamic. DH is 45, I'm 31 and look like I'm in college (I've always looked REALLY young for my age). So when we're all together, it goes something like this:

DH & his ex-wife are the same age & they're both tall.
StepSon is 18 and VERY tall
StepDaughter is 13 and VERY tall
I am 31, short, & look young
DS is 4

So it becomes the two parents & FOUR kids...I'm lumped in with the kids. Luckily, his ex & I have a great friendship (she's even my DS's Godmother) so we just laugh about it. Can't decide if it makes her feel old or me feel like a kid. Either way, it's funny & strange all at the same time.

Does this child look like a 12 year old (I'm the shorter one!)

I've got the glasses...

Um, Heather, can I borrow some of your magical Oil of Olay????

:rotfl:

Ok, I'm watching Travel Channel to pass a slow day while IBM's website is broken. I feel like a traitor getting my cruise fix from the "Voyager on the Seas" special. We have HOW long until our cruise???

Brandie

You are SO funny....I was watching the SAME exact show as you. But I thought "That cruise looks lame compared the the Disney cruise!" :)

As far as looking young, I have my Grandma & Mom to thank for that. It's the great genes that got passed down.

On my first date with my now husband, the waiter asked us "So, what will Dad have to drink tonight?" HA!!!! Good thing we both have a sense of humor about it.

Of course, he joked that when I had my 30th bday, I wasn't cool anymore. Because he couldn't brag to his work buddies that his wife was "in her 20s". Dork. At least I still look like I am (I think!)...except for the gray hairs I guess.

I can't tell you HOW many times I take DS to the grocery store & the checker clerk is astonished that I have a young child . "You're too young to have a baby like that!" they say. Then I tell them my age & they laugh and say no way. Actually, it does get old :)

Are you still watching? "Cruise Ship Secrets" now.

DH's younger than I am, but has more grey hairs. *eyes twinkling* One of my student workers thought he was sooo cool because the guy (who actually went to high school with me, no less!!) thought hubby dyed his goatee. I had to burst the guy's bubble.. Nope, DH's just naturally grizzled:

OK...has Disney announced the names for their two new cruise ships?

Our stateroom on our cruise last week was directly across from the luggage room & When the door was open I saw a picture with four Disney cruise ships & the names of each.

Did I see something sneaky?? Probably not :)

Oh, and Heather, my MOM gets the "you aren't old enough to have a daughter that OLD."

Yeah, THANKS, lady. My MOM is young and I'm OLD. Really appreciate that. :headache:

:rotfl: I gotta stop wearing old lady clothes, huh? No more ordering from catalogues for me! :rotfl:

That depends... What were the names posted???

P.S.: Do you leave closed-captioning on? I just saw a funny typo: "the well-HEALED crowd"... i.e. not the rich crowd, the ones that are past recuperation from plastic surgery???

Brandie

That's funny. I always laugh at closed captioning. They are so wrong so many times.

The names I saw were....

Fantasia &
Dreams

I thought maybe I saw something I wasn't supposed to see

:goodvibes Oh my gosh! I am sooo excited this morning!!! :goodvibes

In the past couple of weeks, I have been looking into spending a few days before the cruise at a WDW resort. Because my employer has a strong affiliation with Disney (and probably your wallet!), I can get an adult 5 day hopper for little over $200. Well last night, the magic came! pixiedust:

I opened my email and what did appear?
Well it was a 20 % resort discount, my dear! :woohoo:

Oh...look at that! It even covers the week before our cruise! So in the spirit of Erica's "Geeks on a Budget", I had to lock it in! I have a room at POP for 4 nights (Monday - Thurs) for a grand total of $295! We'll be heading to PC Friday and stay there to hop on the ship as early as possible Saturday!

One last word as she ran out of sight...
"I'm off to update my ticker now before it is night!" :santa:

That is great! Glad I can be an inspiration ;)

That's so funny...I'm only 5'2" so my stepdaughter passed me up LONG ago!

I'm the same - I'm 5'3" and my little sister is almost as tall as me. She's 12! It's soooooooo not cool. I am also in the early-thirties-but-look-like-I'm-12 club. Though recently I have stopped getting carded. So I guess I look at least 21?
Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking......:confused3

Yea, it made me sad when my mother so gladly pointed out that I have gray hairs. Can you be 15 with gray hair?

Dreams

I thought maybe I saw something I wasn't supposed to see

I was expecting Dreams, but Fantansia is a surprise... The scuttlebutt was that the wings of the DCL hotel (hotel? may have a more appropriate name here) were what the names were going to be, and one wing is named Dreams. So yes, you did see something prior to a formal announcement! :cool1:

Another typo: palacial spelled polacial.

I'm easily amused, evidently. It's a slow day. I'm noting typos for a competitor's cruising ad--err, special. :rotfl2:

:rotfl: My mom was quite gleeful about my grey hairs. She noticed them on our last minute run to Wal-Mart right before my wedding ceremony. :thumbsup2 *shrug* Made her feel better about her oldest getting married. I was supposed to wait until I was 34, and I ran to the altar 10 years ahead of time!

I have a super shiny silver hair right on my part that loves to show up when I'm feeling my age. *grin*

Oh, and Erica, both my siblings have surpassed my 5'7" self. My 2 year old is already 39" tall. DH and I were 4 feet tall by 4 years old, so I'm expecting to have to look up by the time she's 8. Stinker.

Brandie

You never know how tall you will get. I was always the 2nd tallest in all classes. In grade 6 I was 5 feet 2" guess what ?

I am now one of the shortest of my friends. By 18 I was a whopping 5 feet 3 and I stopped growing at 24 grand total 5"4 inches. So my growth spurt in highschool never happened.

I remember in middle school when I was in 6th grade, I was SO excited to fit into my Mom's shoes (6 1/2) and then I just stopped growing! After my pregnancy, my foot grew a little...but so did my Mom's as she's gotten older and we still wear the same size now :)

And that ONE gray hair that always shows up...I have that one too! It's got to be fatter than all the others, because it's right on my forehead part where my bangs are & it's always THERE when I want it to go away! If you pull it, don't 3 more grow in its place? :dance3:

And that's Gray Hair Talk with your Double Dip Friends!:thanks:

its hard to keep up with you guys today i turn my back and there is 3 more replies. i think i can beat all of you guys my mom noticed my first clump(yes clump) of grey hair when i was 5 she thought i got paint in it from school and tried washing it out:rotfl2: its at the back of my head and well covered up by the rest of my hair untill my lovely daughter goes and shows it to everybody.
