COOL!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We can have our own Double Dip Cheerleading Squad! We can put together a routine and do it at the goofy pool! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I'm not exactly in partner stunting shape anymore but I bet I could base a 9 year old! :rotfl2:

Another cheerleader on board here :)

I cheered from 7 yrs old to Sr. in highschool. DH & stepdaughter mock me...but in Texas, cheerleading is serious business! Competition squads, cheer camp, ah, it was fun!! Glad your daughter gets her cast off soon!

Yeah cheerleading has been serious business in the south (inc. Texas) for a very long time....but I think it's becoming serious business everywhere now.

We have so many competitive squads including school squads AND independant all-star squads here in the Rochester, NY area....and we start them really early, too! We have a "Mini Mights" league that starts at age 5 and lots of our girls are into some serious cheering by age 9 or 10 so that they have a strong competitive edge by the time they get into Jr. and Sr. High School.

In our area we have two teams who are the reigning champions from competitions at the national level...we have champs in the small all girl division and then in the large all-girl division, as well (that is my team...32 girls on our Sr. High School Varsity Squad....who will, hopefully come this Sunday be crowned Sectional champs!) :cheer2:

I hope I didn't offend you, Erik! What I meant (without saying...oops) was that DH & his ex were from Indiana in the 80s highschool scene, where cheerleading wasn't nearly what it is in TX!

I know, now days, that cheerleading is a BIG deal everywhere! It sounds like your squads are lucky to have your expertise!!!!

Hey future shipmates,
I've begun to write the TR from our WDW adventure last week, but I wrote this first. I don't know why I did, but some of you might be interested:

Thank you for the link and the story. It brought tears to my eyes. I am ashamed of the disrespect we show to our fellow man. He should be able to retire without a care in the world but someone else has the funds for his hard work so he has to try to continue to work and put himself out there. Never should have happened and most likely wouldn't have if he wasn't black and gay. Lois

No of course you didn't offend me! :goodvibes I'm a former male cheerleader ;) ....so I've got a pretty thick skin! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I went through high school in New England (northern Maine) and cheerleading wasn't really a big deal up there then either...but there was no gymnastics team so cheerleading was as close as I could get....that's why I joined and then did it all through college, too, here in Upstate, NY....so i started just under 20 years ago and in that time the world of cheering has BLOWN UP!! :cheer2:

I've got another girl for the squad!

They start 'em even earlier here. Savannah's squad ("Mighty Mites" division), is 4,5,and 6 year olds. (and we swear there is one girl on our squad that's only 3!)

Not the best action shot but...you get an idea!

I think a little Double Dip Delight cheerleading squad would be very cool! What a great way for the kids to instantly bond! Shoot...they could have matching tank tops, even! :rotfl2:

So who's going to come up with a routine, record it to video, and post it to YouTube for all to study and practice? :happytv:

WELL it aint gonna be me LOL we would need double TUBES lol

But I think this would be hilarious to bust out when we saw eachother. Could you imagine the other cruisers... just staring at us  LMAO Thinking to themselves.. 'grown adult cheerleading competion?.. or cheerleading reunion' :rotfl2:

We could always take it down a notch and just do "spirit fingers" :lmao:

I Love it!

OK you guys, your scaring me :scared1:.

I would feel like I was staying at the All Star Resort during Pop Warner week!

Anyway......did anyone notice that our cruise is going up in price? For ours, from Sam's Club, it is $585 more than what I booked it for, just 2 months ago. And now both cat 5 and cat 6 are gty. I know the double dip is a draw, is it also the other ports that make it more popular?:confused3

Carry on!:cheer2:

Oh, my poor DH would be MORTIFIED if I busted out the arm pumping, herkie jumping cheeleader that's still inside :) OK, not that I could do a jump if I wanted to. I'd pull something I'm quite sure. But still...it would be so dang funny to see DH's face. Along with all the other cruisers. Hey, maybe they'd move out of our way for the sail away party!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Now, we need a team name, don't we?

I've noticed the price increase as well. We have a Cat 7 Nav Verandah that we secured April 28. Cat 7's have been GTY for a couple of months now. The price has gone up $311 per person (adult) since we booked it. I also noted the price on September 30, and it's gone up $97.50 pp since then and now!

IMO, the price is going up for one primary reason. Supply and demand. Of course it always goes up the closer you get to cruise time, so that's a given. We already know it's nearly sold out, and being the Magic is out of commission for 3 weeks in Sept '08, people are waiting and anxious to get their 7 day fix!

Oh...herkie jumping!! There's a blast from the past! How old are you CrazyZeus? :lmao: Our girls don't even know what a herkie jump IS anymore....the only jumps we ever do are front hurdlers, pikes, and russian/toe-touches.....gone are the X jumps and the herkies and side-hurdlers and the stag and double-stag/double hook!:cheer2:

Ha!!! I'm 31...maybe I was the last wave of the Herkies. :) :rotfl2: Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing...

Here's a funny story...

My sweet Mom saves EVERYTHING...and she so lovingly passed along boxes and boxes of all my stuff from baby-adult (I'm talking ALL my baby teeth in an envelope, every single report card from Kindergarten-Senior, the receipt from MY birth at the hospital, and every single thing inbetween!)

So I'm going through BOXES of stuff, and I find....my middle school & high school cheer uniforms! Of course, I tried on my highschool uniforms & they fit ( ). THEN I had to try on my middle school uniform. And would you believe, it FIT? I came out and showed DH and first he laughed his a** off that I even still HAD them and put it on (it was a little old & musty). But then he was impressed that I could still wear it.

I sent it to Goodwill anyway--it had been in a box for almost 20 years, there was no sense in keeping all of it.

I did keep my baby teeth (WHY?)...after all these years, I couldn't bear to throw them away! Maybe I'll make a necklace with them or something. Yea.

Hey I just made my 1000 post. Took me just over a year to do it. Never though I would get here.

Hope everyone is well and safe. Got to give up my computer to my grandson it is now his turn. Well til later, Lois

Hello everyone! I'm Liz and my husband Dave and I will be on the Double Dip cruise! We're in category 5, not sure about our stateroom yet. We're currently on the Magic as I speak! We booked while on board so I figured I'd throw in a hi and let you know that we're already feeling like we can't wait to go and we haven't even left the first time yet! LOL!

Hope to get to know you all soon!
