I'm glad to hear that the sun has finallyl made an appearance in Central Florida. I was talking to my friend who lives where you live and she had water damage to her ceilings in her house and the ceiling in the garage collapsed on Thursday night. So she called the insurance company to file a claim and was told that her morgage company (who she paid and who was supposed to be paying the insurance company) had stopped paying and her policy was canceled. They never notified her at all! So, she called the morgage company and they admitted it was their fault and that they will pay for her damage but now she can't get anybody to insure her. She was really upset last night. I hope things go better for her today.

I am trying to prepare for this cruise and freaking out. I am nowhere near ready. I keep reading all the things everyone has done to get ready. I don't have a fish extender. Had the bright idea to steal someone's idea from the other day and use a plastic pocket. Can't find one anywhere. Went to Dollar Tree, Dollar General and Family Dollar. I also went to local fabric store and looked at material, even though I can't a sew a button on.

My F/E gifts need to be made and I am slowly working on them. Trying to gather ideas for the kiddies.

I have hunted hi and low for a formal dress and can't find anything reasonably priced or what I want.

Okay, deep breath. It will all happen. I know it will. I used to be so organized with house, work, etc. but now with our 4 yr DS life is hard to get anything organized.

Just wanted to post and vent a bit. Feel better now.

Off to Sunday School Class Picnic party.

From what I read, the one in Cozumel has you standing in the water. It didn't indicate that we would be on a grate of any kind, but it may have just not mentioned it.

I don't think you are crazy......my DS3 is coming and he is VERY excited about it. He LOVES animals.

Don't stress! I've come to the conclusion that I'm not going to get all of my F/E gifts done so I'm going to give people IOUs and my email address. If they want one, they can email me with their address and I"ll be more than happy to send it to them in the mail. I"ll bring along what I have done and pass those out, but I decided it is not worth stressing about it.

I'll ask in general over on the big cruise board, but wanted to ask here specifically- is anyone on the cruise going here in Cozumel. I was going to either

1)Stay on the ship with the kids and eat free Disney food, go to the pool,
buy drinks for me.
2) Out of guilt, do something education with the two big ones like go tour
ruins, either leaving the little children with grandparents or taking all of
them with me.

but this Nachi Cocom place sounds good, and I am on vacation. I said, "no school on vacation, we're counting no time towards our 990 hours" because I don't want to be bothered. I read on another board this place is NOT good for little kids and it's more for adults? If a bunch of dis people with kids are going, maybe it won't be a big deal if I take my Horde? I definitely don't want to ruin anyone's day by bringing stinking children somewhere they won't be welcome (you see that sentiment a lot on the cruise boards).

So- anyone with kids going? Anyone ever been with kids?

Also- will the taxis take five people if two of them are little ones? If not,we're not going anywhere.

Hi - Does anyone have a good but affordable photo printer that prints larger sizes? I have an all in one lexmark X5470 but the pictures are not coming out so hot..........

Also - what photo editing program are you all using for the magnets? I have a cheap adobe that came with the computer but I think I need something better.

My DD has always done this: When she flushes those toilets, she takes full advantage of the small delay and runs full speed across the cabin so that it won't get her.

Hear is my Nachi Cocom review.
Did it with 9 people. My kids were 5 and 2 at the time.

Nachi Cocom is one of the farthest beach locations. About a 20 minute cab ride. When you get off the boat we opted to go in one of the 14 passenger vans. They were newer and in my opinion safer. Same price as well. Something like $4 a person.

Nachi Cocom is quite nice. It has a freshwater pool with a swim up bar and beach area with chairs and those thatch shade thingys.

They only let 100(so they say) people in a day. I think when we were there...there were maybe 50. So it is a nice controlled area.
You could leave your stuff at your chairs and not really have to worry. Not a lot of foot traffic.

Most of the Cozumel beaches are very gritty sand with shells. There is also a significant drop off from beach to ocean. About 3 feet high.

Food at Nachi was quite good. They have kids food and adult food. The fish is particularly good. Everything is all inclusive but the food I think is one appetizer and one entree per person however they really never kept track. Could be because I gave our guy a $20 in the begining.

They have bathrooms and a shower area outside to de-sand you.
Nice table sitting area in the shade.

They do not have all the water trampolines or icebergs. You can rent a waver runner if you want. They did ask you once if you wanted extras but then did not bother you again.
Nobody cared that we had kids and I saw others there. Personally if people get offed by me bringing my kids I could care less. There are plenty of adult only places in Mexico they can goto.

So basically it is a nice calm relaxing beach scene. We are skipping it this year because of the double dip.

Oh good!! Thanks for letting me know. My dd doesn't know yet. She's just SOOOOOOOO excited about going "on the big boat with Mickey" for her birthday. She loves animals, too, and I think she'll love being there with the dolphins.




I have been thinking about my FE gifts. I think I may end up making something for everyone - or every cabin. We'll see what happens.

Agree about people not wanting to be around the kids, but I think I'll be at the point if people get snide, my in-laws might be bailing me out of a Mexican jail. I also know I should stay off of other cruise boards, because there are so many uptight snobs on them who hate children, people who don't wear designer gowns, etc.

From what I've found out about the taxis there, it shouldn't matter. Most of the cars and such have not even got seat belts according to a friend who looked into the need for car seats and such for me. She said that people there just hold their kids in their laps.

Hi Shell! Yes, the toilets are LOUD! Reese usually won't flush it. It's better with the lid down but it's still pretty loud. Prepare her for a loud flush & see if she'll do it. I always ended up flushing for Reese because he was afraid of it

Oh honey, don't get stressed!!! As stated, this is your VACATION...that doesn't mean a vacation from your preparation woes!! You'll get everything you need to finished done. I bet you always do. We always manage to do it. So if you haven't done so already, make a list, prioritize, and you'll feel so good as you mark off the most important items. If there are some left behind at the bottom of the list, just remember that Castaway Cay and Mexico are in your future!!

As for FE Fun, everyone, I had a conversation about this with someone else this week. REALLY...we should not stress out about this. That is not the intention. If you don't give to everyone, I honestly don't think anyone here would be offended or care. From getting to know this group, I really think we're all not the type of people who expect to be handed things in life.

I'm not a coach (where's Erik when you need him?!!), but let me give this a shot!

Speaking for myself, if I can make just ONE person smile or laugh, I'll be happy, and I expect nothing in return. There are many of us, so if you don't give to everyone, there will certainly be something in those pockets for those you didn't leave a surprise at their door. Give what you want IF you want. Heck...a sticker for kids or any of us scrapbookers would be great! Remember....by majority vote and discussions on DISDoubleDip, I see it as we agreed that there are no "rules" other than letting us know who you are and making sure we know where to find ya! It's what you want to make of it. So that's interpretation to each individual, right?!?! Take care of YOUR vacation and family's needs first!! The rest is just a cherry on top. I've reached this point (and felt so much better once I conceded to this theory), so anything left on my list is classified as cherries or sprinkles. I may not get it all done, but I know what NEEDS to be done will be. I assure you it WON'T all be done either, but that's okay. I'll have met a bunch of new friends in person in exactly 5 weeks to the hour and sharing white sandy beaches with my family and new friends in 36 days! THAT'S what matters.

I have Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, which came with my PC. It's more than I expected and has worked well for me. It's not PhotoShop, which I would LOVE to have (although I know I would find a new addiction if I did have that!), but it's decent.

Ok...deep breath. Let's look at this way....do you really want/need a formal dress? If so then see if you can rent one locally (most larger cities have places where you can rent formal dresses as well as tuxes), check a consignment shop, ask your friends to borrow a bridesmaid dress. If a 'fromal' is not something you really want do like several of us are doing...nice pants and a pretty top. With Elliott running around I'm NOT up for heels and long skirts...but velvet flats, nice slacks and a satin shirt and I'm good.

FE's....don't stress. PM me and we'll figure out what we can do together. I'm not totally on top of things myself but this is one thing that doesn't stress me. We can figure out something together I"m sure of it.

The gifts can be simple, pick up one of those packages of multi pack candies at sams and toss a few in each pocket. The kids will love this and its very easy. If you don't want to do that just try to find something else equally as easy. But the whole point of this trip is for all of us to relax not freak out about stuff on the boat.

I got two bridesmaid dresses for about $37 total, one of which needs minor alterations and the other of which needs nothing. Beats paying $150 or more for something I'll really never wear anywhere else, and as long as you know what size bridesmaid dress you wear you're golden. Most people wear them to a wedding for a few hours, dry clean them, and put them in the back of the closet. This way you get to show them a little love

And candy or ginger chews would be a lovely addition to anyone's fish extender. I love Kimberly's idea of stickers too. Cheap, fun, and takes up minimal room in a suitcase. It's a win-win!

Heck - you can combine dress and FE shopping on ebay, they have the little plastic pockets on there for a few dollars.

There -- all stress is over now!
