I need to find the directions on how to make a FE! What I really need first is what supplies I need, especially how much fabric. I want to get the fabric either today or tomorrow if at all possible and I'm such a dummy when it comes to searching the Dis.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Oh boy...there's ANOTHER one, too?! I should have know. I'm so sheltered! The one from last night was was Lindemans Framboise Lambic. I highly recommend it! This beer is even corked.

....Luckily, we have some awesome friends in our homeschool CoOp who are up for a day of swimming anytime! So we invited his friends over, I whipped up a pirate cake....

....What I really need first is what supplies I need, especially how much fabric.

Keep in mind that you want the finished width of your FE to be around 8" wide and absolutely no wider than 9" (that's my opinion). By the time you add a rod across the top to hold it up, that's going to extend the overall width about another inch or so.

Supplies:

• The foundation of your FE that the pockets are put on will require one yard to cover the length.
• Of course it's up to you on if you want different fabric for the pockets or not. So that would be a little more fabric you need to potentially get. If you go to a fabric store, I recommend that you check out the "scraps bin" first so you might get a remnant piece for a good price.
• For ours, we added fuseable interfacing to the pockets so they are a little more stiff and less flimsy.
• Not sure if you're sewing yours or not. If you don't sew, I've heard some people state they've used fusible tape (like you would use for a pant hem). So that may or may not be a supply item for you.
• Don't forget a rod of some type to slip through the top of the FE. A wooden dowel rod is an option for this part.
• String, ribbon, rope, or whatever you desire to hang it on the fish should be on your list. Obviously this connects to the ends of the rod.
• Consider any embellishment you may want to add some personalization like names. This may be fabric paint, iron-on letters, felt, or whatever your creative mind has considered.

It was WAY easy...I have no cake decorating talent in any bone in my body, and even I made it look like it was supposed to!! Good luck It really did turn out cute!

Heather - I'm the DBF's Mom and looks like I'm going to have to make a Priate cake now . I have done some cake decorating in the past (the boys always had specialty cakes growing up - you know Mickey, Cookie Monster and the Dukes of Hazzard car, etc). I'll have to print this out for late October!!

Now I am really sorry I didn't sign up for the F/E. Guess I will miss out on the scrapbooks. I wish I was only a year behind. I have something laying on my computer desk I stamped out saying "Look who's two" I was going to put an album together. He turned 4 in April. I have to order more gifts.. apparently I dont know how to add (I know big surprize huh Kimberly LOL) I started doing the kids cabins and got half way done and went hmmm how... where.. what... yup half not there.. And here is for some irony. I went shopping yesterday All ALONE. Boys went off to watch motorcross. So it was just shopping alone (aka BLISS!) Had money burning a hole in my pocket, no interuptions... and found NADA. Isnt that just the luck. Cuz when I go in to the mall broke, and with the boys tagging along or to buy a gift for someone I always find something for me that at that moment I cant get but the 1time I can go crazy for ME I get nothing.. I walked out of the mall with a new pair of shoes, 2 books and a cookie and milk from Mrs Fields (which doesnt help me in the loosing weight department, but after having a depressing time trying on dress's it made me feel better LMAO)

That is so nice of you. Yesterday yes I said yesterday my DD says to me so what do you want for your FE pocket?? I was totally caught off guard I said I didn't sign us up because 6 months ago we talked about it(she is the only one of us with any type of craft talent) and was never really talked about again due to the fact that she is involved in a craft swap on line and is very busy with that so I being the good mom didn't want to throw something else at her. Now I will have to wait and see what our FE looks like and she even surprised me saying that she had been looking at them on line. Sometimes that kid really catchs her mom off guard

PLEASE make sure your name is on the FE list. That will help those of us that haven't done this before to know where we need to head to bestow our gifts. I still don't have my gifts and can certainly add a few to my numbers. I plan to buy a few extra, too.

We in Colorado are thankful for the water; my part of town is expected to get over 3 inches of rain this weekend. I swear I can see the grass growing while I watch.

We're doing a pirate party for my 3 year old dd on the 20th of September. I am SO going to use this idea for her cake!!!! Thanks for the idea. We decided to to the pirate theme since we're going to be dressing up a little over a week later in those costumes, so we're telling everyone to dress up for her party. I think it will be fun. Now, I wonder if I can find some pink pirates for that little ship ....

I had so many folks ask me at church how long until our cruise. Wow. I am so, so, so excited. I could just shout at the knowledge of the surprises my kids are going to have and the joy they will feel on our special vacation.

Raspberry Lambic is THE BOMB. I used to drink that back in the college days, when I was still cool enough to go to the kind of bars that sell every microbrew in the country and have only old velvet couches and mismatched chairs for seating.

I am SOOOOOO glad I braved the weather last night, because the water and batteries are already gone!

I'm not too worried about our safety, I am more worried that I am going to get stuck at work in an inclement weather code on Tuesday afternoon - ack! It's times like these I wish I had an office job instead of working in a hospital......

This is a drive by post. Work was extremely crazy last week I took multiple naps today to catch up on lost sleep last week (probably my own fault because after long days at work I stayed up even later to watch the olympics lol).

I have been reading along, but I don't have time to comment on all the posts. Tonight I'm working on our shirts and finalizing our FE. I got all the fish extender stuff I ordered this week. Next weekend I will be assembling like crazy all the cabins probably with margarita in hand

Today was a BEAUTIFUL day... Not a cloud in the sky.. Not too hot not too breezy... I assume this is what they mean when they same.. The calm Before the storm..

I still have not heard from my brother or his wife.. I left them a message but I assume they are busy preparring for Fay's arrival with the rest of Key West.. If residents get evacuated, I may have some guests.. I told him, the house is free range for family, friends and pets..

At this point, I don't know if I will make it out of here Tuesday night or not but I would like to get back to NJ asap so I can see my friend and her grandma who is still hanging on at the current moment ..

'Aparently' they 'call it' when a potential storm is 36hrs away...that way not everyone runs over everyone in the Target parking lot at the last minute...

Hi all -

Has anyone done the bike rentals with little kids? We signed up for the Castaway 2 day getaway package but I could not get it for Erik since he is only 3. When we do the bike rental, will I be able to bring him along? Does anyone know if I will have to pay for him too? (If we need to that's fine). Are they regular bikes or "special" bikes?

Trust me, they have PLENTY of bikes to choose from...big, medium, small, big with child seats (and helmets too) and yes, even training wheels...there is NO extra charge for any of the 'extras'...it's a free for all!
