....BTW - just got the mail and there's a packet in there for you!!! It's from WDW and feels like luggage tags

Now I can't wait until the packets arrive for the second part of your trip (first, middle and last part my trip).:cool1:

Yeah!!! :yay: That also means mine should arrive soon, too!! :woohoo:

Hey Dan, how did your pre-cruise meets go with your out-of-town friends?

Erica, where do you recommend watching from?

Make sure you're up on the viewing deck about 45 minutes or so after their time starts, they walk through it and up the stairs in that middle tower - we got a good video of them waving :thumbsup2

Anywhere up on the observation deck is good. They swim over to the bell on the right first and get their photos taken, and then after that they are on free time! Apparently it's pretty easy to see through to the other side because they found us right away and waved for the camera guy to follow.

Now I have two formal dresses I am watching on ebay and one that I am bidding on. Keeping fingers crossed lost the last one I really liked.

My work here is done. :rolleyes1

Stacy, are you going hurricane supply shopping this weekend too? Time to check the batteries.......we always have a little "just in case" stash but I think I'll be running out later to grab some extra water, batteries and comfort foods :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tips, Erica! Ya'll please stay safe.

ETA: I just want to point out a mountain road has been closed due to SIX INCHES of snow. Yeah, that's weird!!!!

Both you stay safe! I've been checking the weather to see where the hurricane may go. Do you think you'll have to board up?

Don't worry about DVRing it...that's weird that it is showing that it's going to record Big Brother on 8/14! Did it actually record it?

Yay for the packet!!!!! I can't wait to look at it when I get there tonight!!!! :) I'm getting very excited for the cruise and for the first part of the trip! I can't wait for the cruise packets to arrive too!!!! :)

No it never actually recorded it. I had asked Eric to set it before I went to the BD that night (since he was in the middle of watching a DVD) and I thought he had forgot. Then I realized that GH didn't record on Friday. It also shows that listed int he scheduled (GH on Friday 8/15). Definitely something wrong!

Hi all -

Has anyone done the bike rentals with little kids? We signed up for the Castaway 2 day getaway package but I could not get it for Erik since he is only 3. When we do the bike rental, will I be able to bring him along? Does anyone know if I will have to pay for him too? (If we need to that's fine). Are they regular bikes or "special" bikes?

Thanks for any info,

Crissi

Crissi-
When we went last October, it was SOOOOO hot on CC. I can't imagine Reese wanting to ride a bike at all (he was 4 then). It was all we could do not to overheat on the beach.

Actually, I think Reese & I did overheat on the beach. After we played on the beach & did a bunch of other activites and ate lunch, I took Reese to the kid's club thingy on CC and stayed with him there while he played a bit. The sun was so intense, and the sand was so hot, and even though there was a shade umbrella, I was amazed at how long everyone was kept out in the sun. I started to feel sick to my stomach after about 15 minutes, so I pulled Reese out.

Jeff had gone back to the ship while Reese & I walked alllll the way down the path from the kid's club thingy to the volleyball court. Reese wanted to play volleyball with the net & his new ball we bought on CC. After walking allllll the way down there, we found a game in progress so we couldn't get on the court. So we found a tram stop & waited.

As we rode the tram back to the dock, I was all weak & felt like I had to throw up, & Reese kept complaining about feeling sick. Back on board, we rested for a long time & eventually felt better.

Perhaps it won't be so hot this go-round, but for our family I wouldn't hang our hat on a bike ride with a little one. That's just my two cents... :rolleyes1

Naw. The hurricane party is at my place. Who's bringing the KFC??? ;)

(Long nostalgic story)

Yep...it was really hot when we were there too...same time as you about last year...I had to go back to the ship not long after lunch.

I do have batteries, candles, water and some Junk food.. I am suppose to fly out of Florida on Tuesday night :scared: so I have been getting the house ready to be empty for a month.. But, who knows.. I'm in the wait and see like everyone else..

My brother and sister in law live in Key West, I was more worried about them.
:guilty:

I talked to my MIL last night, she lives in Breckenridge and she said there was 4 inches of snow.. :headache: I was like huh?? :confused3

Erica, Stacey and all your other Floridians - keep safe!!!!!!!!!!

I will! I have a warm husband and a warm dog to keep me company. And plenty of flashlights with fresh batteries. And a wind-up radio! Lionel said "make sure you charge the PSP up tonight" :rotfl: I'm like, PSP? I'm reading!

Usually we are pretty safe in Central Fla, with the exception of the 2004 season, which none of us were expecting. We lived in a 3rd floor apartment at the time, and let me tell you......SCARY NIGHT! We lost power for over a week. We're in a pretty safe house this time and the lines are all underground, which helps some. I don't think we'll board up unless something catastrophic is predicted. By the time it hits us, it's usually downgraded quite a bit. Plus.....most of the old big trees around us were taken out in 2004!

Sad but true.

:lmao:
Any time you have a hurricane party, you can be 75% sure the storm will change path and come nowhere near you. That figure goes up to 100% when there is a mass quantity of alcohol involved.

Not that I know from experience. :rolleyes1

Good. Stay safe! I'm trying to work up the enthusiasm to go to Publix tonight, but I have a feeling I won't make it until tomorrow, when EVERYONE is out there. Come on feet. Take me to the door. Please? Just a little bit? :rotfl:

Kimberly ~ I think having that mat signed will be beautiful for you.

Crissi ~ Hang in there....

People in FL ~ Stay safe

Hadley ~ Loved your jungle kids picture.

SNOW ~ NO NOT YET! Ban the mention of it!

Everyone be safe with the hurricane coming. And send all of the rain my way. :)

No way. Snow?! Seriously?! I can't imagine.

I bought a ton of clothes today for the cruise. Not sure they will all fit, but I can take back those that don't fit. Now, when I go out on Tuesday, I can focus more on FE gifts rather than clothes for me! :)

Hurricane shopping: done.

It would have been much more pleasant if I hadn't gotten caught in a terrential downpour on the way out of the grocery store! There was ONE LANE OPEN with three full carts ahead of me. And then the lady in front of me thought it would be a great time to chat with the cashier.......

:sad2:

Ah well. At least everything here is all set.

Got an email today....my FE gifts are on their way :cool1: That leaves me plenty of time to put some kind of tag on my little gifts so you know where they came from. Ended up doing something for all participants on the list. I had debated splitting the list in 1/2 but then there were too many friends to just do 1/2....so I'm doing all :lovestruc What can I say....I like you all too much to pick & choose!!

To all the FL Peeps...stay safe! Here in North Texas, we don't get much in the way of bad weather. Tornados are our biggest weather threat, but we're usually pretty lucky. I think the last major tornado that was anywhere near us was in Ft. Worth about 9 years ago. Hit part of downtown...that was a BIG deal!

Last March (I think) we had a major snow storm here one day. On Wednesday, we were in shorts & tshirts, on Thursday, there was snow knee-deep in our yard! Nobody here in North Texas knows how to drive in snow or ice (unless you're a transplant here from somewhere else!) so everything was closed, school buses were stranded full of kids because the storm hit about 2:00 in the afternoon, a garbage truck turned over in front of our neighborhood, everyone basically freaked out. Luckily, Reese & I were heading home from the grocery store at about 2:00, just as it was getting really slippery so we were inside before they started closing roads.

And the news....they run 24 hour coverage of the "Blizzard of 2008". But they never say anything new. Yes, it's snowing. Yes, it's cold. Annnnd?

Glad we don't have to deal with hurricanes....hope it all passes you by without any big deal!!!

I have made 48 mini scrapbooks for my FE and they are Done, Done Done. If I never see another file folder it will be to soon. I might grab it and just start folding it. Yeah!!!!!

Now I can start getting caught up on my kids books since they are well a year behind

Now I am really sorry I didn't sign up for the F/E. Guess I will miss out on the scrapbooks. I wish I was only a year behind. I have something laying on my computer desk I stamped out saying "Look who's two" I was going to put an album together. He turned 4 in April. It has been there that long and I see it every day reminding me just how behind I truly am.

Florida is now Official under the state of an emergency... :headache:

Why they called it so soon, I don't really know. Fay hasn't even hit Cuba yet
:confused3

Hey everyone--we are just home from a long day out and I am seeing all the posts about the weather. All of you Floridians--I hope the storm is all bark and no bite and that you all stay safe. Brandie--from what I hear snow is better than NO percipitation out there by now, right? I can remember camping with David's family in Colorado and getting 5 Inches of snow fourth of July weekend about 15 years ago---Colorado never seesm to have its seasons quite right (70 degree days in the middle of winter, snow in the middle of summer:confused3 ).

Sad but true

I was at WDW for Charlie and my friend who lives where you live kept calling me. She lost power and we were fine at CBR. That was a scary night! I was more worried about my friends than I was for myself.

Glad your hurricane shopping is done!
