LOL! I had a feeling that *some* might see that in a ..... different way.

We did this on our 7 day Eastern last September. We used a thicker Sharpie ( Can't find them!!) with a few colors. Turned out great!!

I was a little worried that the autograph books that I'm making might be hard for the characters to hold, but I found the first ones we got our boys at WDW. The ones I'm making are bigger than that, so I think I'm safe.

Olympics--I do miss TV about now. I always enjoyed the opening ceremonies and LOVED the gymanstics. But, I really don't have time to spend watching it anyway--so I am trying to think if it as a good thing that the temptation is not here Tongiht we are watching the DVD of Rio's dance recital which finally came in today's mail. It came out better than any of the 6 DVDs before it

We are scrambling around pulling things together for a birthday party for one of our theater friends tommorrow. She is turning 25 and several other people are bringing over disco balls and lights and whatnot and our basement is ebcomming a "broadway dance club" (note all the plannign was done by someone else--we are just the people with a big house not too close to neighbors!--I can't take credit). Everyon is supposed to come dressed as a character from a Broadway show. Rio is recyling his dance recital costume and benig from Grease. The rest of us are still not sure what we are doing--but it should be fun

Guess what we did at work today? Gathered up all of the patients on our unit and took them to the front of the hospital and staged an Olympic torch relay! It was a hoot.....one of our therapists went all out and made "torches" from tissue paper and flashlights, and made flags for the rest of the patients to hold. We carried a boom box and played Olympic music!

Sometimes work is fun

Very cool!! Emmie's class & the other class w/kids the same age had an 'Olympics' of their very own this week. They made a torch to put up on the wall constructed of yellow & orange handprints for the flames. They did a long jump, distance running, sprints, biking, etc. I think they did 1 or 2 events per day so it spread things out. Even awarded gold, silver & bronze stars to the winners in each event. Emmie didn't get many stars, but I think she had fun. She finally got a medal today for being the best at their waterplay games.

We're watching as well. The opening show was just incredible. DH & I were sitting here w/mouths open in awe most of the time. (Emmie got bored w/things fairly quickly, even though its in China. I think the symbolism is way over her head.) Its amazing the spectacle the Chinese constructed for this event - amazing. DH isn't able to pin down a favorite part. I think mine favorite was the rowing & sailing representation - with the huge paddle thingys. Its also really neat to hear all the things that are said during the parade of nations - about each nation represented.

Ok, had to add something else. How cool is the drawing thing that was started during the very beginning of the ceremony? Its popped up several times now......each time a bit more embellished by something that was done during the show. One time it was added to by children in the middle of the stadium making the sun that was originally drawn into a smiley face (complete w/rosy cheeks). Just saw it again during the parade of nations.....as each of the countries come in, all the individuals in the delegations walk across something that looks like a giant ink pad - each row of folks walks over different colors. Then they walk across the bottom section of the drawing that's laying on the floor again. Its making a huge flat rainbow across the bottom of the picture (under the drawing of the mountains & sun). Totally cool. I'm just blown away by something like this - an element that becomes increasingly complex as things progress throughout whatever show its a part of. (hope that makes sense - I promise I haven't been imbibing anything tonight. )

You know what I love most about the Olympics... not matter how Crazy the world is.. all these great nations can come together to comepete (usually honorbably too LMAO) During the opening and closing ceremonies you see them enjoying there accomplishments and eachother/nation. Gives me chills!

Speaking of Nations heard from E today he was getting ready to leave Kuiwait. Then heading to eaither Ireland or Germany he wasnt sure yet. Told him to pick me up a shotglass (yet I think I have one from both from the last few times he went LMAO) Then next time I hear from him is when he lands in the states back east... after that IN MY ARMS! 21more hours UGGGGG
