The sideways category 11s "feel" bigger just because of how they are set up. If it will help for your DH to get to "tour" an 11 you are welcome to stop by and tour ours sometime. We do just fine in one (and Dave is 6'5" and Marika is now as tall as I am!). We prefer the cheap room and more cruises to a nicer room and fewer vacations:thumbsup2

::::::::::earperk::::::::::::::: I like the way you think! I too would have been fine with a Cat 11, our last cruise not disney, Royal Caribbean, we were on the lowest floor and LAST room, it was a shoebox LITERALLy but we did fine, I know that Disney's rooms are bigger. Dh REALLy wanted the balcony and he doesnt ask for much so we went for it. Now to convince him that an Eastern would be more fun than The Outer Banks with his family...that might be harder:idea:

...I'll see if I kept that thread in my subscriptions in a bit. Personally, I was surprised tht they would charge a "sitting fee", too.

I found it! It looks like only one person made a reference to there being a sitting fee. :confused3

How much is significat? its like the mastercard commercials
Cruise $4000.00
FE/SM=$200
Picture of Dis Double Dip "family"=PRICELESS:grouphug:

GOOD POINT! :cloud9:

I would be all for it, but honestly, I don't desire to organize it. (Hearing me say something like that sounds so BAD to me!) Indeed there should be several people that they would make money from their purchases.

Post 1397 - You're just feeding my addiction - right:rotfl2:

Sorry!! I'm right there with ya! I take no responsiblity! Heather asked for it!! :rotfl:

The rst of our answers to the QOTW:

I was right about Dave with Blus Man Group but he says the other alternative would be a dinner cruise on the lake:lovestruc

Marika's ideal day is boogie boarding at teh seacoast (our 55 degree water does not chill her:confused3 ) followed by a classic New England "lobsta" and clam bake on hte beach.

Rio would spend all afternoon/evening playing games as a family while munching his favourtie finger foods. He says Cranium Family Fun would HAVE to be one of the games:)

hope this works....

Oh wow I do love that photo!! On the TransAtlantic last year we had three large group photos taken.....but all three were in the atrium on the stairs. We did a regular one...a pirate night one...and a pajamas one because we all agreed to go to breakfast in lumiere's together as a large group in our pajamas on one of our many sea days....it was very fun. Jason and I bought the pajamas picture we thought it was so cute! :)

Also I know for a fact that they did not charge a sitting fee and we had MULTIPLE group shots taken. They didn't take stateroom numbers or anything either.....they just printed up like 20 copies of it and put it out withi the other pics in shutters and those of us who wanted them as part of our package bought them.

As for how you notify everyone onboard about the time and place.....that actually reminds me of something else we did on the TransAtlantic that maybe this group would like to consider. We had designated DIS messageboard rooms. We tried to pick at least one cabin...preferably two (one on starboard one on port side) on EVERY Deck. Someone then volunteered to make up a little magnetic message board (very easy...just a sheet of card stock laminated and magnets attached to the back....ours were personalized for our cruise by a crafty person). These were then distributed to the designated cabins and the LIST of designated cabins was published BEFORE we ever cruised (liek we could decide it now). Then throughout the cruise any updates or DIS announcements or hwatever were just written on those boards (either you could go around and write the announcements on each yourself...or you could call the staterooms and leave a message saying, "please put the following announcemnet on your door for the other DIS folks") and then DIS folks would walk by and check them throughout the trip. So for example, on that cruise Jason and I were one of those cabins.....so we put it on the door the first day...and then we would get a voicemail that said "Group Pirate party at 7pm in the atrium Wed. night"....we'd write that on the board and all the DIS folks on our floor woudl eventually see it as they came and went and the word would get passed.

We could certainly set up a similar group communication system for htis trip.

So I took a plunge and bought Disney Vacation Club.
:cool1: Congratulations!!
Question of the Week

What is your ideal (localish) evening? ie--you are planning an evening (or afternoon or whatever) out.
hmm I would like to hit a play or movie and then go out for a nice dinner and hang out somewhere afterwards.
I just placed a bid on a dress Have to wait 3 days to see if I get it. Thanks for the tip.
I just got one in the mail today and have my eye on another one.
I know there are a few of us staying at Pop Century Resorts the week before the cruise. If you didn't know, someone has put together a DIS Meets for Wednesday, September 24 starting at 9:00 pm by the Hippy Dippy Flower pool. The organizer says "LOOK FOR THE LIME LIGHTS BY THE POOL".

Between the Pop FAQ thread and the Meets thread, there appear to be quite a few people from the DISboards who will be there the week of Sept 22. I'm going to TRY to make it.
Sounds like there will be a big group. We are dining at Victoria and Albert's that night.
We have been discussing our next cruise a lot lately. I was curious for those of you planning to rebook on board what are your thoughts? We like to cruise at this time of year so we are looking at Easterns in Oct and Westerns in Sept/Oct. Hard to decide, the prices are very similar.
I would love to book again for next Fall I have been looking at the cruises for next fall and Jan and Feb next year.
Not sure if we will rebook onboard, I HOPE SO! I really like the Easter that is the same week as ours next year, Sept 27-Oct 5, now I just have to get Dh to agree:rolleyes1
I am trying to talk DH into booking a Cat 11, its much cheaper than the Cat 6!
I have my eye on that one as well!
hope this works....

That is such a cool picture I love it!
The handy dandy Roll Call List shows at least two other families staying there with you guys, Drea. I have a feeling you'll get along JUST FINE with one of them! I'm sure he'll make himself known! ;) Maybe you can even get your FE goodie bag a day earlier from him! If so, I might have to change hotels!

That does bring to mind that this Friday night stay info might be good to have up on our website. Then we can chit chat from that thread if you so desire. I spoke to Brandie tonight, and she's set us all up with a new forum named "Friday Night Get-Togethers", which is found under "Get-Togethers".
We will be at MNSSHP that night!!
Well, the trip is coming to an end!!! Amy and Dave, however, aren't really bothered by it since they'll be down in less than 7 weeks anyway (they head down on the 20th before the cruise for some Disney alone time). They've had a great trip with her family! They leave tomorrow AM (the goal is 5AM) to drive straight home.

I'm sure Amy can't wait to update everyone on the details!!

BTW - we were planning on heading over to the port and staying there Friday night before the cruise but our plans have changed and we are now going to MNSSHP that night and bunking at CR. I just have to get everyone up and going to get over to the port early!!
I can't wait to hear how the trip went. We are heading over to port in the morning hopefully early we are staying at the Beach Club.

Heather, you're welcome! Good luck narrowing down your choices!!! It is NOT easy! Ask Jen!!

OMG Its awful! I am drowning in graphics and I cannot choose!

Group photo...like everyone else, I absolutley love it.
Seems like the best time would be to do it right after the meet...when we're all already congregated. Especially if we are already up on deck having had the meet there (ahem:rolleyes: )
And even if we can't get anyone from Shutters, I'm sure *someone* would not mind taking a camera up there and getting a shot. Then it could be emailed or posted later (I know I'd rather have the shutters folks do it, but it would be a nice alternative for those who might not be interested in buying the pic...I'm thinking they wouldn't mind us doing both, they always let you take a pic with your own camera at the other photo ops....)

Oh! I like the pajamas pic idea!!!!!! (well and the breakfast part too! How funny is that!)

There ya go. Perfect!:thumbsup2

LMAO I :GUESS::confused3 we could share it is big enough for our familys :rotfl: LOL

HEather also google... I found a ton of different backgrounds posters etc then just played with them in MS Paint

**dont forget to PM me also if your cabin gets a room # for s/m and F/e (I already have Val and I down for the Walt Suite LMAO)

WORKS FOR ME!!!!!

Glad everyone enjoyed the photo:banana:
You can only do this photo when we are at sea...they never charged us for this and on this particular photo they even but in the group name and sailing dates no charge!!!!!!!
this is a 8x10 pitcure which came out beautiful!!!!:yay:
What needs to be done is have a set time and day and just invite all that we have on our master list....not everyone is going to show up because of other plans but we should have a large enough group for a great shot like this:dance3:

hope this works....

Tell us more, how did you set it up? We would have to figure out a way to get everyone to know the date and time? Maybe we could get a master list of who is interested, we could draft a letter and then fill in the date/time/place, let me know I would be willing to put the letter together, unless we can arrange it before we sail? Can you tell I REALLY want this pic?

Denise....this is exactly what we need....I really do think you want the pitcure!!!!:yay:

Denise...the COVE is the adults only bar area...there are no TV's there...you are thinking about the sports bar....maybe you can escape from the children for a little while....they are gonna love the club!!!

charlie:woohoo:

DH and I have already talked about seeing you guys in there :-) If there is a wine or beer tasting on board we are going to do everything we can to attend...so we'll probably see some of you guys during that. (ok..he does the beer tasting...we both do the wine).

Videoman:

the picture is awesome. :)
Count us in for being there.

I am soo excited my fish extender is done. I had someone make it for us, and it is better than I could have imagined. :) Everyone in our family has their own theme too. Now I just have to find fabric paint to put our names on it.

I was wondering where you guys were, Charlie!! I also love that nearly everyone is wearing the same shirt. It makes it easier to see faces. :) If we do this, I'll wear my logo T-shirt!

Oh man.....I just messed up Jeninpa's FE.

I printed out bright colored names on dark transfer paper and they printed just fine. I ironed them on (black fabric) left them cool and took of the parchment paper and was surprised. The bright colors are now dull colors.....very dull! :sad1:

What did I do wrong!:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Now I need to think of a way to brighten them up. Unfortunately, the fe was done except for the names......lesson learned......next fe I will do the names first.

This is my first attempt at fe's and I am making double sided ones. One side disney themed and the other side pirate themed.

PS: Charlie ~ I love the photo ..... can't remember why we didn't show up for it, but I did recognize a few people.

I was going to make you all guess...I looks alot better if everyone is wearing the same shirts...We all had these shirts made ( I was the designer) and wore them at the port,sail-a-way party and this photo....Still have mine!!!:yay:

I'm sure the dark color is what dulled the names....do you have a transfer set for dark fabrics? The chemical they use is a bit different in that one so that the colors tend to stay brighter (I've done this one myself is the only reason I'm asking).

Try painting over the names with fabric paint and a small brush...or add a metalic to them with paint either of those should help.

That is a FABOO IDEA!! We should advertise the date, time and location and let people know that if htye have a Logo Tshirt (or other apparel) they shoudl wear it....and, of course, we can all wear our lanyards!

that's an easy fix!!.....

if the names are there, just dull....then use them as kind of a STENCIL.....go to a craft store and buy some fabric puffy paint in the bright colors you want and outline or fill them in or whatever. This will add dimension and color to them....you can even get glittery paint...OR sprink some glitter lightly on the wet fabric paint to add just a little of tink's pixie dust!! :)
