Hanna should be here and gone by the end of this week. Ike gets closer by Friday (still 1400 miles out) and Josephine hits next week. Most storms take 5 to 10 days to "develop" on the evening news and make landfall. We're looking clear for the week of the 21st.

I've been to CC before (to rescue crew), "during" (Jeanne) and right after a Hurricane. Thanks to Disney magic everything looks the same except for a few brown trees, the island does quite well.

Yeah...our first DCL cruise together as a couple was in Florida and Castaway just days after Hurricane Frances several years ago. Orlando area, including the airport which had flooded apparently so was full of blowers, was a MESS....everything was destroyed adn boarded up in the town....until you entered WDW...where you wouldn't have known that anything had happened! :lmao: Castaway was kind of a mess.....as soon as we got off the ship they cast had spray painted a huge sign that said "FRANCES WAS HERE!" and hung it over the Welcome to Castaway Cay sign right as you disembark. The trees were all brown adn barea nd the beach was kind of slimed with seaweed....but we still had an amazing time/experience.....and we actually preferred Castaway post-hurricane to Castaway in our Feb. cruise when it was under 60 degrees and we couldn't even swim....we had to wear jackets and long pants....YIKES!!!

Yes, it's 4:58 AM and I am up making magnets.

Tiffany, hun...run up a deck and a door over and feel free to drop your extras. I have two doors to cover and at the rate I'm going...well.....:lmao:

Which reminds me, I'll just apologize in advance to you and especially Adrienne as she is directly below us. I'll try hard to keep the kids fom jumping kamikaze off the top bunk.....I promise we'll do our best to keep it down. Just smack on the ceiling with something if we get out of hand above ya...:rotfl2:

I put all my door magnets on our metal chalk board that is 4 X 5 and they cover the whole thing! :scared1:

Jen - If your kido's are making enough noise to bother us from the other side of the ship - We have bigger problems! :rotfl:

Oh good. I did not get a chance to vote. But glad my choice made won.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Take a look... great new feature on the National Hurricane Website.

Thank you! I'm heading down to my Mom's tomorrow to help her move all her plants inside so they won't become flying objects in the storm. Then I'm bringing her home with me, and her 2 cats, to ride it out. She lives in Wilmington about 10 miles from the beach.

We are south of the Raleigh area, so I appriciate all the updates!

PINS!!! I think you get 4

That is 16 Trades!!!!

Anyone who does not want their pins I have two very eager pin traders.
Feel free to drop them in my FE. princess: princess:

Share the love with us too!!! :hippie:

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the breakaway, then I can wear it at work and not risk an old confused person choking me to death:lmao:

Oh, Tag fairy. Where are you?

the lanyards are sleek and simple....stylish black with white lettering.....but you can never go wrong with simple, sleek, elegant black----consider it the "little black dress" of lanyards! :thumbsup2

So - it's going to be slimming! :cool1: :cool1:

Sorry I got caught up in the multiple quote thing!

I took Grady to the Orthodontist today for an eval. He's only 8, but the dentist has been watching his overcrowding since he was 3. Well, in the next 2 weeks he has to have 5 teeth pulled!!!! :scared1:

He was so funny though, because the Tooth Fairy brings him $10.00 per tooth when they are pulled out. (At least that is what happened with the last 2 - Good memery kid!) So, as were driving away he started to get upset then stopped and said he was glad to get them out before the cruise because he would have $50.00 to spend on the cruise! :lmao: :lmao:

He's so Goofy!

Tiffany

Colo. forecasters call for 4 hurricanes in Sept.
Eds: ADDS that Hanna counts toward four hurricanes expected in
September.
With BC-Gustav
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Colorado hurricane researchers are
forecasting five tropical storms in the Atlantic this month,
including four hurricanes, two of them major.
Former Colorado State University climatologist William Gray said
Tuesday that would be nearly twice as busy as an average September.
Gray has been issuing hurricane forecasts at Colorado State
University for 25 years.
Tropical Storm Ike, which formed Monday, and Tropical Storm
Josephine, which formed Tuesday, count toward the five storms in
the September forecast, said Phil Klotzbach, a member of the
research team and author of the September report.
Klotzbach said Hanna, which reached hurricane strength on Monday
before weakening back to a tropical storm on Tuesday, counts toward
the four hurricanes forecast for September. However, it isn't
included in September's five expected tropical storms because it
initially held that status in August.
Three other Atlantic hurricanes have been recorded so far this
season: Bertha and Dolly in July and Gustav in August.
The team's latest predictions cover only September and are not a
revision of its season-long forecast. The team's most recent
seasonal prediction, issued Aug. 5, called for a total of nine
Atlantic hurricanes during the season, which runs from June 1 to
Nov. 30.

So if I'm reading that right....they are predicting perhaps 2 more Tropical storms at least one of which will develop into a full-blown (pun intended :lmao: ) hurricane before the end of september? OY...that doesnt bode well for us.....

Oh well...I don't really care actually.....so long as we can get ON the ship. I know that once you're on the ship the captain can fairly easily divert and avoid storms so it will just mean port changes.....and as far as I'm concerned we can just take the boat out into the Atlantic and not get off of it at all...I mean I'd like at least ONE of our Castaway stops...but I'd also be giddy for the chance to just spend 6 or 7 straight days at sea! :thumbsup2 (We did that on the TransAtlantic last year and it was absolute heaven!)

So how long until the water 'calms down' enough to brew up more storms? Does he have any long range predictions?

Thank you! I'm heading down to my Mom's tomorrow to help her move all her plants inside so they won't become flying objects in the storm. Then I'm bringing her home with me, and her 2 cats, to ride it out. She lives in Wilmington about 10 miles from the beach.
woohoo!! Another visit w/your mom so soon. I know you're excited. ;)

poor Grady!! Will he still be sore or anything on the cruise? They will leave him enough to eat with, right? :rotfl:

Hey! That should make it at least $70 w/what he got for B/D. Lucky guy.

So how many additional storms in Sept does that translate to (besides Gustav, Hannah, Ike, Josephine)? Having trouble following their math...............

I agree. But, if I can't get TO Florida and ON the boat, I will not be a happy camper.

Yes, there could be two more storms. I would probably put Hanna in that category as a Hurricane when she comes back to life.

We've been on DCL or getting on during storms. The Captain moves the ship nicely someplace out of harms way... except that Jenne, we were in Antiqua when she dropped right on top of us.

I don't care where we go just as long as we're on that boat... we can go out in the middle of the ocean and do donuts for all I care!

Question..

IF we get stuck on the ship, either an extra day or can't get to a port or whatever the reason... Do they change the schedule to add anything special to the onboard activities?? Change ports so we can get off somewhere??

From past experience, they don't seem to have many activities onboard when the ship is scheduled to be on an island.. and I am NOT one to sunbathe by the pool since I'd be a lobster in less then 15 minutes.. :headache:

We had two really bad days because of Jenne. When the skies cleared and the passengers (some) stopped puking or sleeping on the decks for fresh air DCL threw a huge party on deck, free drinks, music, characters, gave us ship board credit. The storm never bothered me. Me and a could of guys were on the top deck playing weather channel. The Capt. laughed at me! Then Friday night we had to come back into PC early, we found out after leaving CC. Suppose to be off the ship by 11 pm or 1 am (can't remember), it was closer to 1. They bussed us to Swan, free rooms (of course), breakfast and 25% off next cruise. Not bad for coming into port techinally a few hours early.

Oh, Tag fairy. Where are you?

Tiffany

I am convinces of 2 things:

1. NONE of the Dis Doubld Dippers are the tag fairy
2. The Tag Fairy DOES NOT hang out on these boards

There have some been some pretty HYSTERICAL things said and NOT many tags! One of the classics was Erik's reference to fairies

Thats good to know, I just want to be on the boat, I dont care where we go, although I would like at least one stop at Castaway Cay:cloud9:

anyone else getting a little bit nervous with all these storms? 2 more in the wings waiting for us.. :headache:
same here... A coworked asked me if i had been paying attention to the weather, I said ya, she said good luck with that regarding the hurricans etc.. I said that is why they invented travel insurance! LOL (YET, I hope I dont have to use it:scared: )

It would probably be quicker (and quite possibly cheaper), certainly easier... to just get a whole new printer. Was the drink good???
Thats what I was thinking too.. but I really love  my printer and have had it for 4yrs. Apparently I ready you should replace your head (LOL) every yr. Figure if I can replace mine ever 4yrs...im doing ok LOL.:lmao:

Hi everyone! One more day closer to the cruise!!! I can't wait!

I'm so excited for the cruise and the trip to WDW, but I"m so nervous to fly! Ask my DBF and MagicMe and they will both tell you that I'm scared to fly! Any suggestions to make it easier?
Hit a bar at the airport and get your preflight on! :drinking1, a great way to relax!!!
take a magazine or 2, an ipod to listen too, a mini dvd player or laptop to watch a movie if your flight doesnt play one.. or a great time to start your TRIP REPORT JOURNAL!!! :cutie:

Are we declaring a FE start time.

I know several people do not often go to their rooms til the muster drill.
Good times in the Mickey Pool.

I would vote for say 7:00pm first day.

This allows time to get fully settled for everyone.

Opinions?
Suggestions?
oh GREAT IDEA! yes... throw out some idea's people enough to give time to mosey around the ship and check your msg boards for any changed, IS 7PM a good start time?

You don't need their lanyard anyway....our DIS lanyards are way better!! :lmao: :lmao:
Cant wait to see them in person, Im sure they are AWESOME, thanks again for all your hard work on this!

That's going to be my only lanyard because it's my first cruise! I can't wait to become a member of the CC because then I'll get the free gift too! LOL!!!
Same here... :rolleyes1

Well I started working in my blank scrapbook pages for you guys to sign as you pass our stateroom (7122) on your way to Secret Deck 7!! I need to run to the scrapbook store at lunch to get some flesh-colored paper. I should finish those up tonight. (Yeah!!!) So please please please stop by sometime during the week!! If one page fills up, I'll have another to put up!
Cant wait to drop by and see what you have done! :)

So here's the deal... Hanna, Ike and Josephine are all out there.:scared1:

I will keep you posted with the latest and most accurate tropical updates possible. Consider me your personal weather channel... and hey, you don't have to wait til :50 after for your tropical update. :rotfl2:
Love it our own personal weather forcaster! :worship:

I put all my door magnets on our metal chalk board that is 4 X 5 and they cover the whole thing! :scared1:
HAHA, Ive started covering our fridge and im not even done yet

OHHH I HOPE NOT I mean I can understand being on ship is better then NOT, but this is our 1st DIsney cruise, let alone 1st cruise ever for the boys and would love for them to actually see stuff other then just the ship. Well that goes for me too being we have never done a cruise on that side of the country! :sad1: So please keep your fingers crossed this all "blows" over!:thumbsup2

OK just had my Jimmy Johns sandwich without MAYO and it really sucked.

This heart healthy thing really is bland.

Have you tried spicy mustard instead of mayo?

Thought about it but thought it would clash with the advocado.
Advocado is high in calories but apparently good for you. I was hoping the spread would be dressing enough.

I LOVE MAYO!!!
Hellman's Real Mayonaise.
I HATE MIRACLE WHIP

Blue Ribbon or Hellmans are the only good mayos to me. My family believes I only wave the knife over the bread, not actually put the mayo ON the bread, though.

Avocado has polyunsaturated fat, right?

Jimmy John's makes the absolute best subs here in Denver.

You're right down the hall from us (7114) so we'll stop by for sure!!

So here's the deal... Hanna, Ike and Josephine are all out there.:scared1:

My meteorologist used to track storms for commercial ships in the caribbean. He says Josephine will be the last storm to form and or hit land, and there should be nothing behind her. In his opinion, it's unheard of for four storms to form in the atlantic at the same time. Basically the water is too stirred up to create a fourth. Let's hope he's right!:cool1:

I will keep you posted with the latest and most accurate tropical updates possible. Consider me your personal weather channel... and hey, you don't have to wait til :50 after for your tropical update. :rotfl2:
Thanks a ton for all the updates!! It's been interesting following what's happening. We don't have vacation isurance, but I feel like I'm wasting my time if I stress about a hurricane that's 25 days away that may or may not even do anything. You know? Just trying to roll with the punches & see what happens. I agree--as long as we're ON the boat, life will be swell (pun intended!) bwa hahahahhaha:lmao:
