"Double Dip Delight" 09.27.2008 - Chapter 5!

hi everyone!! :) we were at the beach last week with slow slow internet service. ( we went to Seagrove Beach in Florida near Destin/Panama city) such an easier drive from GA!

Amy-- menu sounds awesome!!!

Jen--- very jealous about booking a cruise!! we had to cancel our Oct cruise.. so bummed.. but we still have one booked for Johns bday next Dec. :)

the kids start school next week 8/10 so much earlier from Ohio. we have to go today and get school supplies. (open house is this week)

and in Panama City we came home with a mini pet turtle. ( the size of a golf ball.) Natalie is beyond excited over her pet. :) everyone knows how anti animals I am... this should be interesting. :rotfl2:

Drea: when do you leave????

Mmmm..hear there are some NICE beaches up there. :thumbsup2

yeah...RCCL is SO much cheaper, even on the monstah ships. ;) The cruise we are going on in Jan is longer than on DCL (8 nights), has more stops (add San Juan), and for equivalent rooms (D1 on RCCl, Cat 5 on DCL) it is over $1000 less. They're practically forcing me to give them a try!

i know can you believe it is already time? We have a couple more weeks but I just don't know where the summer went. Ron took the kids school shopping this afternoon. :sad2: Time flies.

I had two little turtles like that when I was her age! Mine didn't last long....:confused3 LOL! :rotfl2:

Val, holy crow does school start early! How do your kids feel about it?

I am currently searching for a knife and serving set for the wedding. I've been looking for quite sometime, but there is a relative of mine that wants to buy it for us. Anyway, they are all SOOOOO expensive! OK...the Disne ones are so expensive...LOL!

I also have to get my resume together soon because I found a job I really want to apply for! :yay: It's a public relations position and it is right up my alley! I'm going to work on my resume tonight and tomorrow. :)

Hope all is well with everyone! :)

Yep ... kids in our county start on the 6th - that's Thursday. Yuck. I will be glad that everyone is back in school, though. Public places won't be as crowded for us homeschoolers. LOL!!

A turtle, huh?? Have fun with that!!!

Good luck, Amy!!!!! I hope you get the job. Keep us updated on that.

Thank you! I started my resume today and all of the clearances that I will need in order to apply. I'm actually trying to do a little bit of it right now. The part that I'm having the hardest time with is that my job changed over time. I was first doing marketing/public relations and then more of the customer service/store buying part of the job. So that is what I am trying to figure out right now. I need to put in about my public relations experience since I am applying for a public relations job but I'm just not sure how to include it on it. Any suggestions?

Guess what? I ordered the wedding invitations today!!!!!!!!! :yay: Seems like just yesterday we got engaged! :)

Amy--our kids are ready to go back to school. since we moved they are missing truly just having kids over and just playing. they have met a bunch at the pool, but havent really been invited over.
Yeah about ordering invitations!! :) one step closer!!!
good luck updating your resume!! ( have a few people also look at it.... it helps to get their feedback.)

Did you do the pr job first and than switched over to the other postion? If you did I would split the positions on my resume show the timeframe for each position with your former employer.

Yes and no...

Here is the semi-short version of the story. I was hired as a marketing/public relations assistant. After about a year, I found out that my position was grant funded (I didn't know that when I was hired) and they (the powers that be) decided to outsource our PR and marketing department to a company who they thought would do so much better...that was a disaster but that was besides the point. By this time, the CEO (at the time) knew she wanted me to run the gift shop when we moved to our new building so she kept me on and just changed my job description to doing a little bit of PR and marketing but mostly reservations. Over time, the PR/marketing was taken away from me (they hired someone...I'm not going to comment on that person's abilities) and I went to doing reservations and store strictly. So I have really done PR work since spring of 2005.

That is where the dilemma comes in...

Hmm.. I think if it were me I would just list it all together as the one job PR/reservations/retail.

Good luck to ya girl! :)

school starts today!! :) the lil ones were picked up at 6:43.. no one should ever be picked up that early . l ol. :)

the middle school isnt picked up until 8:23.

hopefully it will be a good day this afternoon. :) one is excited, one is whatever and one was really nervous!!!

Ahhhh - that first day is always a mixed bag of emotions (for the kids and Mom). Hope everything works out for all of them.

On a side note, I haven't been able to post anything since Amy reads these boards but I can now!!! We had a surprise Bridal Shower for her yesterday (Sunday)!! I think we actually did surprise her!! Her sister Beth (her twin) did a wonderful job setting the whole thing up. She had a Cinderalla theme that was just enough (not over the top cutesie but more elegant). She got alot of wonderful things but I will leave the details for Amy to post.

Boy, things are starting to move quickly now - less then 10 weeks to the big day!!! I think Amy is finally beginning to realize how really close it's getting!!!

How wonderful!!!!!!! I know that everyone is getting excited about it. It's going to be beautiful.

Gonna post pictures of the shower?? Amy??

Hi everyone!!!!

My shower was such a surprise and I was so excited! I was literally shaking! There were so many people there I loved so it was wonderful! One of my favorite things about my shower was that my one bridesmaids and her daughter came up from Maryland without me knowing it to surprise me! I hadn't seen her daughter for over a year (she's now 16 months old) so I was so excited!!!!! We had planned to go to Hershey Park with them today (OMG, it was so much fun to see the baby at the park!) so I knew I would have seen them today, but it was so exciting to get an extra day to see them!

I haven't had a chance to download many pictures, but here are three that I took with my iPhone!

My presents!!!! I couldn't believe how many there were! :)

My beautiful cake that my future DMIL made - it was WONDERFUL!!!!!

meandcake.jpg

Me by my beautiful cake!

It was so much fun and just so exciting! I have to go through all of my presents again and start writing thank you notes. I will write more later but I have to get up early tomorrow morning because my sister is having her ACL reconstructed and I'm actually working for the first time in almost a month!!!! I'm doing an afternoon shift at the Disney Store! :)

Awesome pics Amy.. looks like you got some great goodies!! :)
Love the cake... too cute and fitting for you. :)

Wow..Amy that looks awesome! LOVE THE CAKE(s)...and man you sure brought in a haul! Look at all those gifts! I'm so glad you had such a nice surprise! :goodvibes

Thanks guys!

You should see my living room! I was at the hospital all day with my sister (she had knee surgery) and now I'm trying to put the finishing touches on my resume/application for that job that I'm applying for. It's due tomorrow!

I have to go through my presents yet and start writing the thank you notes! It was a great shower and the cake was WONDERFUL!!!! :)

Well no one has posted for a while so I thought I would just happen to mention that it's less than
2 MONTHS
until Amy and Dave tie the knot!!!! :scared1:

Seems like just yesterday we were all celebrating their engagement on the ship!!

Just popping in to say hi!!!! And obviously to give up a bump!!!! :)

hope everyone is having a good weekend. :)

we just booked a 4 day trip to Disney the weekend before Turkey day. :) gotta love free dining too. we are just trying to come up with a good place to eat.
( we have Le Cellier, Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace). we wanted a Fantasmic, and they were booked all weekend.

Val...the whole F! thing has become such a mess since they cut back the days they perform it. We have actually never seen it and still decided to avoid that day cause of the horror stories I was reading. Sorry the packages are sold out! I have heard you have to line up more than 90 mins in advance without it....crazy..

Is anyone (other than Amy) planning on being in WDW in Oct?

I finally convinced ROn (yeah like it took a lot of work) to get more play 3 passes, so we can hit up Food & Wine. (Ok actually it's for Brendan's birthday but you can see where my planning focus is! :rotfl2:)

We're trying to decide between the 11th and the 18th. I know if we wait till the 18th we might get a chance to see Amy & Dave but the other weekend is a holiday weekend, which means more recuperation time from the dri-I mean eating-we will do! ;)
