That sounds like a lot of fun! Fun yet educational at the same time! :)

It's been a blast. The location is BEAUTIFUL with wildlife on site (including a turkey you can pet) and the people are great. Since we live out in the country we never get any trick or treaters so this gives us something nice to do with Elliott instead of just sitting at home.

Hasn't worked yet, but I'll keep you posted! :thumbsup2

Yes, please do!!! I love snow (so why do I live in Georgia, you might ask?!)! I just never get enough of it.

Well the doc gave me a shot yesterday of antibiotics and a ton of other stuff so hopefully by Friday I"ll be feeling much better!

We went last year....they hang apples from the trees for the kids to bite on and take with them, carve spaghetti squash as jack o lanterns, string them and add a light stick for the little ones to carry, they have a tarrot card reader and someone talking about superstitions. The house itself isn't open but you can peek in the windows to see a wake (the 'widow' is walking around the house all night crying). They tell ghost stories but they guage how scary by the crowd, there is a bonfire with caramel appels and kettle corn over it, a hay maze...stuff like that. Its nice, quiet, and gives a little bit of a history lesson which makes me happy.

This is the 'offical' write up for it:

All Hallows Eve of the 1800s

Audubon State Historic Site invites you to discover Halloween traditions of the 1800s during the program All Hallows Eve to be held on October 31, of course. Between 6:30 and 8:30 pm, on the grounds of Oakley Plantation an old-fashioned torch light celebration will be held exploring the traditions of Halloween in the United States. Guests are invited to join in historic Halloween activities including Jack-o-Lantern carving, apples on a string, a candlelit rope maze, fortune telling, superstitions, storytelling, Halloween treats, and more. Children of all ages are invited to attend in costume. For more information, call 888-677-2838 or 635-3739.

Wow!!! That sounds sooooooooo cool!!! I might have to look into that for our church to do next year. We could 'taylor' it to our needs. Very neat. I hope you guys have a ton of fun.

We've never been home on Halloween. We *always* go off. In fact, we've not been home for the entire time we've been married. We sure wouldn't have much for the kids to do here if we did stay home. Not too many folks around me.

It was a nasty night and I think its gonig to be nasty until Friday, I hope thats the case, if they win tonight, the parade will be Thurs and I have to work Thurs night, if they win Wed night the parade will be Fri, I have to work Fri night, if they play Fri and win, the parade will be Monday or Tuesday and I have off :woohoo:
Or...if they play and the Rays win tonight (or tomorrow) then they come back down here and the Rays win then, and then the Rays win again, then the parade will be down here, and....;) :rolleyes1
(just saaaayin'!):lmao:

I do have to say, that the Rays ya'll are seeing are NOT the Rays that blew away the Sox, not the Rays that we have seen all this year, right now they look more like the Rays of old. I don't know what's up with them, but this is not their normal caliber of play. Plus they are just not getting the calls (the butt tag at third, seriously, even the umps are admitting they blew that one, and that call (and that run) were eventually the difference in that game.) Even the Ray-natic that I am, I have to admit the Phillies are the better team right now. However...we've managed to get rid of Hamels until (possibly game 7), next on the list to pwn: Victorino. But it ain't over till the fat lady sings....I have faith still:thumbsup2

NO snow down here, but it sure is cold. High in the 60's! Funny how fast we went from in a bathingsuit on CC to bundled up in sweats!

I keep forgetting to mention to you guys that one woman who was our dining tablemate works right at the DCL port terminal. In fact, she had to get off the ship at 6:00 am to go to work the day we got off. (She greeted us at Customs....she was such a joy and had so much excitement in her voice in regards to her job. She said she just loves sharing in everyone's excitement to get onboard.)

Anywhoooo......I'm sure some may KNOW this or others may HOPE for this, but I thought I would mention that she validated that there are indeed DCL CMs whose only job is to monitor the DISboards specifically. So know that if you want your voice to be heard, it's quite likely it really is being seen here! (Now hopefully the monitors won't have this deleted!). I think it's a great thing to know that they really do get out and research what people are feeling, receiving, and wanting from their DCL experience. (So hi and thank you, DCL CM!)

ok since it was driving me crazy not knowing for sure.. I Winkipedia'd it LOL

Disneyana is a term for toys, books, animation celluloids, theme-park souvenirs, and other collectibles produced by The Walt Disney Company....

Thank you! I was trying to resist that temptation of looking it up!

...There are 50 of us from all parts of the US that will be gathering at WDW (in mostly DVC resorts) starting tomorrow....
Lots of fun.......

Your agenda sounds like lots of fun!! Enjoy!

That's so neat!! He still talks about the cruise everyday and is already excited about next Septembers cruise!

Isn't that a great feeling to have given him such a special memory?!

... I've got yet ANOTHER sinus infection and just want to go home and curl up in bed. .....Friday night we are just taking him to a local plantation that has an 1800 style halloween program.

Oh you sound miserable! So sorry!! Hopefully you CAN curl up soon! It's encouraging to know those antibotics will be working soon. Hang in there!

Okay...the plantation's Halloween event sounds so cool!

....We are hoping to go back Jan or Feb 2010 and take Steves dad with us, maybe add on a 3 night cruise????

... I have a viewing:( a girl I work with her nephew, age 18 died last thurs of a brain tumor, so sad!!!!

YOU ARE CONSIDERING ONE THAT SOON?!!! WOO HOO!!! I thought for certain you wouldn't look into something like that for more than 2 years. Keep us posted on those plans!!

As for your friend's nephew, that is such a tragedy. That's going to be a very tough showing to go to.

I just had a cavity filled and my mouth is SOOOOO numb! I feel like a chipmunk!!

Awe! First, wipe that slobber off your chin, then have some good, real mashed potatoes for dinner!

...Okay - the "rain" we were supposed to have all day is big fat fluffy flakes!!! It wasn't so bad earlier but now it's beginning to stick to the cars!!!...

Oh I LOVE the big fluffy flakes! I heard that yesterday there were some of those just a little bit north of Colulmbus. Apparently it was snowing in pocketed areas of Columbus yesterday morning because the radio DJs were saying it was snowing outside the studio, but it wasn't where I was. :sad1: As always, I honestly can't wait for that first snow! :goodvibes

Whoa, nenner1 Jen!

What is that in your ticker? I'm specifically looking at 1 year, 11 months, and 19 days until "We Bring Back the Magic". I thought for a moment that maybe you're on the WB TA, however, I just created a calendar countdown, and that's 1 yr, 10 months, and 21 days. Are you referring to the Magic ship or just good old fashioned magic at Disney?

Holy Moly, now THAT is the job for me!:thumbsup2
Where do I send my resume?:rotfl2:

No, seriously!!!!;)

LOL, you aren't the first to ask.
I know our cruise title is confusing.
It is actually 10/16/10 Western, the first cruise after the TA , and after the dry dock following it. Hence..."Bring back the Magic" , as in bring it back to us....not we are bringing it back! Its a Jimmy Buffett song, too!;)
If I were on the TA...trust me, you'd know it!:lmao:

I did have to wipe the slobber off my chin because when they told me to rinse out my mouth (when they were done working) it dribbled down my chin! I couldn't help but laugh!

Sadly, my tooth is killing me right now. I couldn't even eat lunch. We are having mashed potatoes for dinner - my mom is making a turkey dinner! Hopefully I can eat at least the potatoes!

Hopefully someone "listening" will slip you the application form!

OH DARN! I was hoping that maybe you errantly put in the month of October in your ticker. You Parrotheads!

if you do any one thing from this I would suggest the pumpkin carving (its actually spaghetti squash). They have several adults helping the kids to draw out the faces and carve them (the squash are already cleaned with holes drilled about an inch down from where the top was cut off to put a string through). Once the face is put on they drop a light stick into it and run a string through the top. The field is so pretty with all the little 'faces' floating around and its very safe for the kids. For my little guy (and the two other older kids we were with) this was the best part. The eldest of the 3 helped the two little ones to carve theres and somewhere there is a photo of the three of them with heads bent over the table working on the master pieces.

So your tablemate works with my friend, who also works at DCL and was on the cruise - they are our dear cruising buddies (see TR for details). So that was another reason we kept hovering around your dinner table every once in a while, he was checking in on her. Such a small world at Disney (no pun intended) :lmao:

Yeah, it's even going to be in the low 30s or upper 20s tonight here. That's *crazy* for Georgia in October.

That sounds so cool. I wonder if I can get that together for next year .... or if I need to make someone ELSE get it together for next year. LOL!

Well I met the Mrs. of the DCB couple when she was with you for lunch on Grand Cayman day. Is Mr. DCB the handsome guy in the uniform on formal night?!?!?!? If so, no kidding it's a small world!! I can't say I noticed you lingering around our table, but he indeed did visit our tablemates many times!

LOL - yep thats the Mr....I tried not to hang too much but I know he was visiting quite a bit. The have become very dear friends of ours - we met them on a cruise 3 cruises ago and love cruising together.

Same here - it was 34 this morning at about 10am - crazy for TX

That's awesome! Obviously you noticed me. You should have said something!!!! I truly don't remember seeing you stop by, otherwise I would have chatted up a storm with you!

I know my DM exchanged email addys with your DCB's co-worker ("A"), but I haven't asked if they've kept in touch with one another yet. Next time you talk to them, you have to tell them about the small world and ask them to tell "A" and her daugher "S" hello from me!!! :goodvibes

LOL - will do. I should have said more! But DCB was always talking LOL :lmao:

Okay - first things first - it started snowing intermixed among the rain as early as 7 AM this morning. As the morning went on (say by 10) it was all snow. It stayed snow until about 2PM. Now early on it just melted away but it finally started sticking a little later. Then it turned over to freezing rain! That managed to take some trees out in various areas which then took out power. I went to stop at the store on the way home (needed to pick up a few things along with a birthday card - seems like when I wasn't looking my oldest -you know him as Amy's fiance - is adding another whole year to his age. Not like it adds anything to my age :rolleyes1 - that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!) Well the entire strip mall was closed since they apparently lost power this afternoon. I also heard that an area in Richboro was out. (Of course nothing like your experience Kimberly - I'm sure they all have their power back by now).

As a result of the above-mentioned weather, they decided to re-schedule the World Series game to tomorrow night at the very earliest (where exactly was this logic last night when they had these poor guys playing in a monsoon!! - personally I felt they should have never started the game last night or at the very least, suspended it by the second or third inning!!!! It was ridiculous playing such an important game - and that's for both teams - in that kind of weather).

So - the weather doesn't look that great for tomorrow either. They're calling for more showers in the evening, 15-25 mph winds and temperatures in the low 40's, high 30's!! Still not ideal weather. And since it doesn't look like the sun is going to make a prolonged appearance - not sure if the field will be ready especially if we get additional rain (although they insist that they have a state of the art system to deal with this).

Now the sun comes back on Thursday with temps in the 50's and going higher on Friday so it will be interesting to see what they decide! Waiting until Thursday or Friday - you just might see Cole Hamels back in!!! You never know!?!

Anyway - GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sadly, we never got snow up here. :sad1: I was really hoping to see some flakes, but nope...nothing.

Attention Vera Bradley Fans:

I know several of you were talking about VB bags a couple of months ago. I just saw that QVC will have handbags and accessories featured on Monday, November 3. At midnight ET, they will have a "Today's Special Value" that will be a VB product. So you might want to check it out. :)
