Maybe this will make some of you feel a little better ( I hope). I did Costa Maya in 2006 DD. It really wasn't different then Cozumel. The only bad part other then the landyards and stuff, Cozumel is a very popular port for other cruise lines. I guess of the 3 (or 4) ports we are doing this is the best one to change.

The Grand Cayman excursions do not seem as interesting to me the only ones that we are considering are the Grand Cayman Island Tour and the Rum Point Beach Adventure.

The only disappointment I have in not going to Costa Maya (not counting already having my shirts with our current logo) is that I was looking forward to seeing the ruins. Plus we lose the opportunity to help their economy (knowing they could really use it) and to help the schools. I know that Cozumel has a riuns tour but we want to try for the dolphin encounter so can't do ruins there. I agree that it doesn't seem that there are that many excursions at GC that look as interesting. Might be saving some $$$'s and staying on board - unless I go for the spa instead (the excursions might be cheaper!!!:rotfl: ).

I can't remember what the excursions were on Costa Maya, when I went in 2006, but I guess this explains why we where not getting a Costa Maya excursion list.

Well, I'm bummed but what I keep telling myself is that I'd rather have the people who live there have homes than me having a port to dock at while on a cruise. Like MagicMe said (btw, it was your son who told me about this change!) I'm sad we can't take school supplies and help their economy. Well...I guess it's another excuse to go on another cruise!!!! And then I'll be a CC member!!!!! :)

And MagicMe...I'm still soooo excited to wear our shirts even if the port changed! Thank you so much for getting them made!!! :)

I have to agree with you on the opportunity of hepling out their economy, but unfortunately what's done is done. We really can't blame DCL. Of the two excursions I would do the Dolphin Encounter, I did it and it was breath taking out of this world.

I was going to call you and let you know but I found out just before I went out to dinner and my ride was blowing the horn in the parking lot so I had to go:rotfl2: Regardless, we're going to be sailing for 7-days and since I've only ever done a 4-day - I'm still excited to go!:cool1:

That's ok! I hope you had a nice dinner!!!!!!

I'm still excited too!!!! It's something new and different and maybe instead of doing an excursion, maybe we'll just get off the boat and explore for a bit on our own. I read in the PassPorter that there is a museum close to the pier...that would be interesting. :)

Paul2003 - thanks for the advise. I think we will be sticking with the dolphins - my Mom was looking forward to it and since she's never done anything like that, I really want to make that happen for her.

Dinner was fun and of course I brought stuff home for tomorrow's lunch (not to mention something for Dave:rotfl2: ).

Since Mom isn't into snorkeling, about the only thing I see that might be of interest is the tour that includes the butterfly farm but I'm on the fence with that. Well, since I couldn't book the REAS package that everyone has been booking (doesn't quite work for singles:rotfl: ), I have until the 90-day mark to make up my mind.

I'm sure he was happy that you brought something home for him! :)

The butterfly farm one sounded interesting too as well as the island tour. There's a pirate tour too. I think it's new, but I'll be bringing down my PassPorter this weekend so I can show it to you. We'll see...we have a bit of time to decide. :)

One plus side of all this, at least we found out now and not when we got on board. It's still to bad our logos are messed up.

:worried: I was VERY much looking forward to CM since we got bumped out of it last time... :(

But, on the Polly-anna side.. I am happy they chose GC instead of Nassau :thumbsup2

That is 18 names. Hopefully I will hear soon that a nineteenth person has stepped up to fill in for Stargater. I bet I do--this is such a fabulous group of people:thumbsup2

Indeed a 19th member has joined us.....a big huge thank you to MagicMe!!

(and actually.....now you've made me worried that I should try to figure out capitalization of everyone's name....I better check and make sure I have it right!!)

great - we just ordered the T-shirts on Sunday!!!! AND, I was coming on here to let everyone know that I actually received them today!!!! Four T-shirts and now we can't wear them?????

Well - I logged onto my reservation and just like everyone else, my itinerary shows Grand Cayman. I don't really have a problem with it, just that since I already spent $75 on T-shirts - we're going to be wearing the Costa Maya ones!!!!

Who says you can't wear them? Jason and I are going to get sharpies and cross out "Costa Maya" and put in "Grand Cayman!!" I think it'll be funny....or just leave it the way it is.......nobody will even notice I promise!!

That's such a bummer to hear about the change to GC. I was so looking forward to going to CM & doing the ruins tour. <sigh> It will be a mental adjustment for us.....

As others have said, I'm sure the folks in CM are more disappointed about this than we are - their livelihoods depend upon the travel industry.

So now have to do quick research on GC.............:surfweb:

I'll just along with anc22 that Jason and I have never been to Grand Cayman either so we actually don't care one way or the other about this change....and the boat is the draw for us anyway...We'd go on a cruise that made NO stops and just floated around in the ocean (actually we told the captain on the TransAtlantic that they should do a the Castaway Cay & Cruise to Nowhere trip...just one trip to Castaway and then 6 days at sea!!)

In fact we're kind of happy about the change in our itinerary because now at least I can start reading about the excursions and picking what we're doing before teh 29th!!....and i haven't started looking yet but if there's still an excursion where we can see live Sea Turtles then we might be doing that!!! hadley can tell you that I almost ALWAYS do any excursion that involves animals of any kind!!! :lmao:

Thank you MagicMe!!!!!!!!!!

crissi- we're all booked. I couldn't even add my mother in law! I asked for the first sea day, but said we'd take the other if it's taken. They review and approve requests between 30 and 25 days out, but I faxed all the info in a few weeks back.

I asked about tea, but they don't do the private room for tea.

Julie

Hi Julie,

Is there anything stopping us from trying to book another group?

TIA,
Crissi
