It's been a while since I've posted, though I've been reading right along. Turns out I misspelled my screen name and couldn't log on. So I've created a new name spelled correctly.

This topic finally piqued my interest enough to figure out my logon problem. We are certainly dressing up for pirate night (myself, DW, and 3 DKs). We've been gathering costume parts one at a time since we put down our deposit last July. Got a PoTC Asian pirate captain from the Disney Store on clearance for DD. The rest of us are creating ours from scratch. The reason I came out of lurking was to ask if anyone knows of a pattern that I can use to make boot covers for myself. Since I'll have black shoes for formal night, I'm hoping that I can use those and make some vinyl covers to turn them into boots for a night (it will also cut down on packing, as boots my size would take up a considerable amount of space in a suitcase). Any suggestions?

Welcome back to the boards! :thumbsup2

Jason and I both wear boot covers over our shoes, too, for that reason. Mine are black and his are brown. I bought mine but made his (using the pair I had bought for myself as a pattern). I am sure there is a pattern out there to make boot covers----check the pattern books at JoAnn's in the halloween costume section. I would also check on Ebay for black boot covers. I got mine pretty inexpensively on there and they're pretty nice.

Welcome to the world, Sarah!!! What a beautiful little girl :thumbsup2 Congrats & hope you're feeling better today :lovestruc

Jen and Family - Sarah is beautiful!!! princess: Congratulations :cool1:

I can't wait to meet her on the cruise!

Thanks for the link to the Kona Cafe! I think we will have to hop on the Monorail bright and early Saturday morning for breakfast before heading to the port! I was trying to think of somewhere yummy to eat before leaving WDW and that is perfect! I brought a couple of pounds of 100% Kona coffee home with me and the thought of having a cup or two or three with breakfast sounds great to me. Although I almost fell off my chair when I looked at the menu and a pound of 100% Kona coffee was $40.00!!!! :scared1: I certainly did't pay that much for mine!

Changing the subject - As we are getting closer to our cruise I was wondering if we could start getting some final or near-final numbers for the FE exchange. I'm getting ready to order some goody bag items, but am not sure how many to order. Also, about when will we find out who our Secret Mickey family will be? I'm a planner (I know there are no other planners on here :rotfl: ) and need time to find just the right items!

Thanks for the feedback about dressing up for Pirate Night. pirate: I forgot that I purchased Grady's outfit from Disney.com and only need to make 2 pirate outfits for Doug and myself and one Wendy costume for Megan! Doug and my costumes will be pretty simple. I think we will have black pants, white shirts, red vests and a different colored sash. I'm not sure about our shoes, but I like the boot cover idea.

Tiffany

Sarah is absolutely beautiful! Her pictures made my difficult day all the better, I couldn't stop smiling- Thank you!!! Jen, hope you are doing well. Kona Cafe is great! Their desserts are wonderful and you can eat just the desserts there!!! I am also a planner and would like to know about the FE and Secret Mickey. I don't even know if I am on the Secret Mickey list - I think I am!

How soon should we decide to buy tickets? :surfweb:

What happens if it rains?

How soon to buy your tickets really depends on what night you're going. If you're going to go to a mid-week party in September I think you'd be pretty safe waiting and getting the tickets closer to the date of the party...maybe even getting same day tickets. I have heard, however, that if you are planning on going to a weekend party date OR any of the parties in the week or two prior to Halloween itself that the sooner you get your tickets the better...because they do sell out. WDW sells only a controlled number of tickets for each party....in order to make sure hte parks aren't too, too crowded (which makes the parties more enjoyable).

What if it rains? You get wet!! :rotfl: .....and sometimes VERY wet!!:lmao: The last time Jason and I went...it POURED on us....we did very easy, low-key costumes and went as animals by just painting our faces (Jason a lizard and me a lion)....and as part of my costume I teased the HECK out of my hair (which at the time was pretty long) and stood it up all over my head and plastered it with hairspray like a huge lion's mane. (It looked VERY cool!:thumbsup2 ) By about halfway through the party, after the rain started and we stood out in it to see the (AMAZING) parade....my hair was as flat as a pancake and our faces were running right down our shirts!! :rotfl2: HOWEVER.....we STILL had a fantastic time....and maybe even better than if it hadn't rained because lots of people who couldn't handle the rain either left really early OR spent the whole night huddled under canopies or in shelters hoping the rain would let up---which it never did----but jason and I were already as wet as we were gonna get so we just kept partying and we walked onto tons of rides, got great spots for the fireworks (which they did DESPITE the rain) and did TONS of trick or treating at the candy spots!! :cool1:

Awwwwww, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sarah! Congratulations on your newest little blessing, Jen! :goodvibes

Congrats Jen & welcome baby Sarah! :flower3:

I went ahead and booked the Nachi Cocom Beach Break as our Cozumel excursion thru Island Marketing. What really sold me on it was the fact that they only allow a certain # of people per day to limit crowding, oh, and I guess the open bar is a bonus as well  :drinking1

Have any of you made any door magnets yet? I thought it might be fun to share some of them if any of you are up for it: All I have right now is one that Kristine personalized for my daughter for the cruise we were supposed to go on in 2007, now that she is almost 10, she probably won't let me put it up though, she isn't really into the princesses so much anymore, now it is just Tink..........:rolleyes1

Tiffany we might be doing Kona for breakfast that morning before leaving for Port as well. LOL I almost fell out of my chair when they told me the price of it last fall needless to say I got some of the cheaper Kona blend for my mom she really enjoyed it.

You should be fine to wait and buy tickets they are non-refundable IIRC. The past two years I have not bought tickets until end of August/early September. Last year for the last Friday party in September I bought my ticket 2 days in advance at DTD. They sell around 25,000 tickets for each party. I'm planning on Sept 23 & 26th parties and will get tickets closer to the dates.
