Awww, how sweet! I wish my hubby would do that! :flower3:

3.) You find out, if you can, when they're dining at Palo and you drop it at Palo during the day and they will ahve it on their table for them when they arrive. (Actually that is how Jason gave me my present when we were on a cruise for our 3rd anniversary....when we got to the table in Palo, my gift was the centerpiece on the table and everyone around was wondering what it was!!)
.

Maui, how fun!! We are going a week after the cruise. We booked the cruise then my brother told us he is getting marriend in Hawaii a week later  What hotel did you stay at? I am going crazy trying to plan for that and the Disney hotel, flight, etc. Sorry your family was sick on the flight. What airline was it? Do the seats really lay down that flat? I have never been in first class so I have no idea. :confused3
Tonya

We stayed at the Wailea Marriott. Hubby has mega-points at Marriott chains from travelling for years & years. They even upgraded our garden-view reservation to an ocean front suite...LOVED that!

The hotel itself was very nice. There wasn't a beach on property, but it was a short 5 minute walk (at most) to perfect beaches on either side of the hotel with a path that connected everything. The pools were so-so. Definitely not Marriott resort pool standard if you ask me. But DS had fun in the kid pool which was the only pool we visited.

We flew American Airlines (where DH also has mega status from all his work travels!). The first class seats lay almost flat. It seemed like a novel idea, but DH and I could never get comfortable. They were at just enough of an angle that DS kept sliding down & getting frustrated and crying. So I ended up putting the seat back to sitting/recline instead of lay-flat and he slept much better that way.

If you'd like to see a vacation movie that shows the beaches & hotel room (just a bit) visit our blog post with the movie:

Wow, I've been totally MIA this last year. It's been a really bad time for us with sickness, losing a family member, and finding out dh is going to Afghanistan for at least a year. But we did complete our adoption, so there's some good news.

We'll still be on the cruise, but it will be just me and the kids (dd 14, ds 10, dd4, ds 4) and hopefully my sister.

I also volunteered to try and book a room for a tea. Is anyone still interested?

Julie

Aww Im so sorry DH is being sent to Afghan and for a yr at that. Wow! I forget is he in the Army?

Congrats on the adoption cant wait to meet the new member of the family... along with the whole family! :)

We got a dusting last night, but I think like you tomorrow's storm is going to be interesting.

Stay safe.

Yeah...the storm should be interesting. I work at the Lehigh Valley Mall at the Disney Store and I'm on call tomorrow night. Should be interesting to see if I get called in or not! I hope not!

Be careful out there! :)

Noooooooooo!!!!!!! Oh Tammie! I'm so selfishly disappointed. I was looking forward to seeing your new grandkids, too!

I absolutely understand though as I know you wanted all the kids and grandkids with you if at all possible, so you have to do the right thing. I hope you find a great new vacation to start planning for as well. Please check in with us so we know how you're doing and what's going on.

If it cannot be you, I just don't know if anyone can take over the party cabin except Erica and Lionel. I mean they thought they were going to stay there anyways. So they might as well take it over!

Thanks, Kimberly - I'll post some recent pics! I tried to get DCL to keep the cabin open for a lounge, but somehow they didn't agree with me!

Caught up now:thumbsup2
Tammie: I can't remember if I posted to you earlier. I think I did not (blocking out thinking about you being gone!). I am SORRY you have to drop this trip. I was looking forward to meeting you. I hope whatever you and your family does end up doing for vacation makes for some wonderful memories.
Hadley! Thanks I am disappointed, I was looking forward to meeting you and your talented children! We will make memories, whatever we do.

Julie, so sorry for your loss, and that your DH is being deployed. I know you'll have a good time with your little ones - you'll just have to cruise again with DH!

Hi all. I just wanted to say a quick hello and goodbye ;) , as we are leaving disgustingly early tomorrow morning (have to leave for the airport by 4:30 :scared1: ) for our first trip to DisneyWorld :cool1: Talk to you all soon.

Have a GREAT trip! :dance3:

Happy Friday!! :goodvibes

Well, our weather isn't too bad this morning. They're still expecting a little more freezing rain, but not bad. Now other counties around us have a different story. Nonetheless, even my suburb's schools are closed. They rarely call off school. I'm sure the concern is that the freezing rain may be here off and on all day today, then turning into snow late this afternoon.

Julie, it's great to hear that Zhi's adoption is finalized! Congratulations! I'ts unfortunate that your DH can't be with all of you for the cruise, but I'm glad you and the kids are still coming to have some fun! I really appreciate what your family sacrifices for us.

To help you catch up on the "big" things we've all be talking about, check out Post 6 (link in my siggy or go to Page 1). Don't miss some of the links to other threads that will more extensively provide information

We (3) would be interested in tea, too! So it sounds like we can easily get a DIS Tea Party going!

Arin, since you likely won't see this until you return, I hope you found your first trip to WDW even more special than you imagined! I cannot wait to hear how it went!

Heather, I watched your recent video before I went to bed last night. I was completely relaxed just watching and listening to it! Looks like you had a nice variety of things you did. The whale watching must have been breathtaking.

You have quite a talent to pull a video montage together that really tells a touching story. Your January Disney video was really good too! Are those the tie-dye shirts you made for all of you?

Sorry for your loss and for you needing to cruise without your lifemate. However I am glad that you and the kids will still be joining us. I will keep DH in my prayer that he comes home safe at the end of his tour. I hope everyone is feeling better.

The weather is yucky here! Sure wish I were on the Magic cruising! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We have a bunch of snow here...probably the most we've had all winter. It's exciting, but I'm at work...so not so much!

Hope everybody is doing well today!

:)

Let me know if you like them or if I messed them up....

Have a great cruise,
gg

Thanks for the good thoughts and well wishes.

I'll call DCL about the room and see if they'll do tea there. We did brunch as a group in an extra room at Palo, but not sure if they'll do tea. When I find out, I'll start getting names and cabin numbers via PM.

Hopefully dh will get home early from his deployment. Our last friend who went over did, his tour was cut short by a few months, but I doubt it.

Yes! I made the tie dye shirts with instructions from a thread on th DISboard. They were really easy & for our upcoming April trip I'm making two more sets so we have one for every day in different colors!

The whale watch was our 3rd time to go in our various Maui visits & the whales were more active than we've ever seen. There was a competition pod right in front of the boat & we had to sit and wait for them to move...took about 15 minutes...because they just kept doing all sorts of stuff about 40 yds away from the boat!

DS (4) wasn't happy about the watch because he was bored, but when it was time to drop the hydrophone in the water & listen to the sounds they invited him to come to the bow & help with it. That's what you see in the video at first with the microphone & later the small, yellow thing he's talking into.

They let him talk into the hydrophone first before putting it into the water & he went on and on with some story. It was really funny...He's such a performance ham!

Grumpy-gramps, there's a typo in the second mickey head... "Shipemates"

Okay, before anything else, I have to say:

Here is groupie Marika with Simon LeBon (the lead singer of Duran Duran, they sing RIO, get it???)

My Duran Duran OBSESSED husband bows down to you! You'll see him on the cruise - he'll be the one trying to find some rigging to hang on so he can sing "Her name is Rio, and she dances on the saaaaaand..." - just like he's done every time we've been on anything remotely resembling a boat for the past ten years. He even plays the air sax. :rotfl2:

In other news - hi everybody! I'm fully caught up, now that I've found our Version 2.0 thread. :) My sister and I are heading out on a quickie weekend Royal Caribbean cruise in two weeks, so I've been in "cruise mode" and thinking of our Double Dip - I really can't wait. :goodvibes

Sorry didn't catch at first. On the second magnet "shipmates" is misspelled.

:confused3 fixing it now:lmao: :thumbsup2

I won't be going on the cruise this year, our son will be returning from Baghdad sometimes between the end of September and the middle of October. We will be there for when he returns , so at least he'll know he was parents that care.:grouphug:

Oh John, I know you must be terribly excited to get your DS back safe at home! I'm so sorry you won't be joining us, but happier that you have his homecoming to look forward to :goodvibes :goodvibes
