I think it was Nenner1 who asked how you leave a secret mickey gift safely and anonymously as a surprise.......and there are a few good ideas.

1.) You have someone else deliver it for you and tell the person their secret mickey asked them to deliver it (this is a good way to involve other DISer's kids, too.)

2.) You have the dining room staff deliver it to their table for them during a meal.

3.) You find out, if you can, when they're dining at Palo and you drop it at Palo during the day and they will ahve it on their table for them when they arrive. (Actually that is how Jason gave me my present when we were on a cruise for our 3rd anniversary....when we got to the table in Palo, my gift was the centerpiece on the table and everyone around was wondering what it was!!)

4.) You get their stateroom steward to put it in their room on the bed when they make their towel animals.

So I see MNSSHP is Saturday October 4th.

My other issue with this idea is the "Rain" factor.
I gotta pre-pay for the hard event and I would hate to have it be raining.
Those are the risks....

Thoughts?

We went to MNSSHP last year and unfortunately it poured :scared1: . We tried to make the best of it but the kids were really upset since there candy was ruined, and their costumes were hidden by the rain coats.

Heather - Welcome home, sorry to hear you weren't feeling well. Glad to hear your trip was great though, Maui is beautiful. We were there for our honeymoon and loved it.

Erik - Those are great ideas for delivering the SM gifts. Did you do the SM gift exchange on a previous cruise with your Disfriends? We have only done FE gifts, but our last group was smaller than this one.

:sad2: sorry to hear the 10/4 date was for 2007 - still hoping though!!

It's always exciting to meet other people from PA! I live in Allentown and my DBF lives in the Horsham area.. I know where Phoenxville is because one of my good friends lives in Pottstown!

Is this your first Disney Cruise? It's our first Disney Cruise so I"m SOOOOO excited to go!

Ok here is the breakdown of cruises for our family!!
DH and I this will be our 3rd disney cruise. First one was Western Oct 06 and our second one was this past New Years Eve on the Magic.

Wilmington DD this is her second she was with us on the October 06

The other 3 this will be there first. :cool1: :cool1:

Wow! You're a pro! I'm so excited for the cruise and although I want it to get here soon at the same time the anticipation is half of the fun!

Did you get snow tonight? We got a little dusting...just enough to make me slide on my way home with my twin from dinner! I think Friday's storm is going to be bigger, though.

Have a great night! :)

Regarding the FE debate. I had planned to do something for the kids and the adults.. and then well it got to expensive LOL Seeing as thought Im only about 3/4 done with the kids and we still dont have a set in stone list and its months away and Im sure we will get more to join the group LOL. But I still may do something else per cabin, just a lil something.

So the secret mickey sounds good also! Dont you all love how deceisive I am.. Ya E hates it too LOL!

Hello Everyone! I regret to say that we won't be cruising with all of you, after all. :sad2:

2. Someone else will have to take over as the "party cabin" and lounge!

Noooooooooo!!!!!!! Oh Tammie! I'm so selfishly disappointed. I was looking forward to seeing your new grandkids, too!

I absolutely understand though as I know you wanted all the kids and grandkids with you if at all possible, so you have to do the right thing. I hope you find a great new vacation to start planning for as well. Please check in with us so we know how you're doing and what's going on.

If it cannot be you, I just don't know if anyone can take over the party cabin except Erica and Lionel. I mean they thought they were going to stay there anyways. So they might as well take it over!

I have not done FE's on previous cruises...so I was just assuming this is how it goes, but....I thought the list was basically so those who were interested would know the locations of the FE's. I for one plan on hitting everyone but I understand that can be time consuming for some (I have little helpers!)..of course no reciprocation necessary..though I may identify that my gift came from me I do not expect return gifts from everyone....

Yea. What Jen said. :) This is how I envisioned it as well. I personally intend to drop off a little something for everyone, so the list will be essential to know where to deposit little treasures only to our DISers and their extended families and friends who are also participating. If we want/need to split the group up, I'm good with that, too. Those cabins in my group will just get a little something extra from me.

I think the "adopt-a-family" Secret Mickey/Nemo/Ariel is a very nice idea. Since I've already made several FE gift purchases, that isn't in *my* personal plan. By ALL means, I think we should get that organized as I know it would be a more fitting alternative to FE fun for many. I love the delivery ideas Erik mentioned, too!

Again, I guess I see it as do what you want to do so it's fun and virtually stress-free. If we have various ways of playing, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I would be more than happy to volunteer assistance for any versions of the "fun" that the group has suggested that require some coordination or organization like gathering cabin numbers for those who need them, splitting the list, or making assignments for the Secret Mickey/Nemo/Ariel.

...took the Munchkin to Maui. The weather rocked, he had a blast in the ocean.....Sure enough, he sat up many times crying, & when I finally put him on my lap I saw that tell tale "mouthing" of someone who's about to lose it. Bag was handy. Four year old ROCKS at aiming his ick & made it all into the bag....My stomach still isn't right--I tell DH this and he says "I bet you're pregnant." WAIT a minute...I haven't been downing ANY strawberries folks! :)

Heather! Welcome home, and I'm glad you had a great mini vacation!! On the flip side, I'm sorry about the conclusion. That really stinks. I hope you'll all feel better today!

You probably should stay away from those strawberries just a little bit longer :rolleyes1 You may at least want the cruise date to get a little bit closer. BTW, Brandie's introduction to the show "You are What You Eat" on BBC America has also taught me that seeds, like pumpkin and sunflower, up the zink, too!! ;)

Good morning everyone. Got up and discovered that we are encased in an ice cube here in the midwest. Have a meeting at 8 AM at work but really amy not sure I want to venture out. I will just wait and see.

Well I have a hot shower in my future then a decision to make. Lois

Erik - I don't know the answer, but I like what you posted. People could leave their FE's outside the cabin and maybe get some little treats but no pressure on anyone to feel the need to bring something for everyone's FE's. I like the secret Mickey idea if people are game and want to "sign up". Heck, we could even use the FE's to leave little notes! Like, pass out meet times and such? Or leave messages? PLAY TAG?

Oh, and welcome Cheryl! :cheer2:

Ditto Erik and Erica:) (oh and good to see some posts from you recently Erica)

More to post later when I finish catching up I am sure:upsidedow

Oh yuck, Lois! I'm watching the news right now, and it sounds like that's suppose to reach us at 3:00 am. There's a winter storm warning in Columbus from 7pm Thurs to 7pm Friday. It's 4 degrees right now, too! So I'm already planning to work from home on Friday. I hope you have that option as well.

Be safe!!!

Caught up now:thumbsup2

Secret Mickey: We had a blast with that on the Transatlantic cruise. We used the
"get the stateroom host to deliver it" method (as Erik mentioned). My secret Mickey (hi Scoobypop;) )used one Erik did not mention--the watch us go in the cabin (therefore knowing we are "home") and then dropping it in front of the door, knocking and running:rotfl2: I  LOVE:love: my Secret Mickey gift--it's a Disney cookbook that was signed by most of the characters on board! FABULOUS idea--and I use it all the time. One thing to decide is if we want to reveal who the secret Mickeys are at some point. No one decided that before the last cruise and no one was sure what to do. Most of us did reveal ourselves near the end of the trip--which I like. I wanted to know who was so thoughtful (and I then insisted HE sign my cookbook also).

So things to decide:
*who will coordinate setting everyone up? (person needs to collect names/cabin #s of interested parties) Also needs to be able to pass along the the Mickey if the person has allergies.
*We will allow the kids to partake in this (I don't think any of the kids did on our other cruise, but they had a whole network of things going just for them because of all the sea days). If so, are kids only to be grouped with other kids or is everyone mixed up?
*Price Range of Gift? I like the $20-$30 range suggested already.
*Delivery deadline
*If/when to reveal who you are to your deliveree

Tammie: I can't remember if I posted to you earlier. I think I did not (blocking out thinking about you being gone!). I am SORRY you have to drop this trip. I was looking forward to meeting you. I hope whatever you and your family does end up doing for vacation makes for some wonderful memories.

Welcome back Heather. I wouldn't mind going somewhere nice and warm for a few days to thaw myself:rolleyes: Sorry you had such a rough flight back.

I can work from home but have issues getting motivated. Not to mention I left most of my stuff at the office. I may just take it easy today and work a little move over the weekend. We will see. Hope everyone else is warm, happy and safe. Lois

Wow, I've been totally MIA this last year. It's been a really bad time for us with sickness, losing a family member, and finding out dh is going to Afghanistan for at least a year. But we did complete our adoption, so there's some good news.

We'll still be on the cruise, but it will be just me and the kids (dd 14, ds 10, dd4, ds 4) and hopefully my sister.

I also volunteered to try and book a room for a tea. Is anyone still interested?

Julie

Janet and I would be interested. Any idea on when you wanted to try to do this? That way I can be sure I do not have any conflict with activities I like to do when on board. Lois

We got a dusting last night, but I think like you tomorrow's storm is going to be interesting.

Stay safe.

Hi all. I just wanted to say a quick hello and goodbye ;) , as we are leaving disgustingly early tomorrow morning (have to leave for the airport by 4:30 :scared1: ) for our first trip to DisneyWorld :cool1: Talk to you all soon.

Welcome back:goodvibes I'm thinking we would like to do the tea.

Maui, how fun!! We are going a week after the cruise. We booked the cruise then my brother told us he is getting marriend in Hawaii a week later  What hotel did you stay at? I am going crazy trying to plan for that and the Disney hotel, flight, etc. Sorry your family was sick on the flight. What airline was it? Do the seats really lay down that flat? I have never been in first class so I have no idea. :confused3
Tonya

Popping back in to say hi! We've been out of pocket for the past week...took the Munchkin to Maui. The weather rocked, he had a blast in the ocean. The flight there was a breeze (he's an amazing traveler!)

The trip home last night was ROUGH. I thought we'd be good to go since we were in first class & they had "lay flat" seats...but it was at a slight angle & DS kept sliding down the seat. A 4 year old who is sleepy does not have patience for such hassles :) Add to that the meal on board was making people sick. After eating it, DH & myself didn't feel well and DS said his tummy hurt.

So I asked for a barf bag from the flight attendant **just in case**, figuring we wouldn't need it but I didn't want to be fishing around in the middle of the night for something for DS to barf in.

Sure enough, he sat up many times crying, & when I finally put him on my lap I saw that tell tale "mouthing" of someone who's about to lose it. Bag was handy. Four year old ROCKS at aiming his ick & made it all into the bag. NO mess at all. Was I relieved or WHAT? Poor baby. Luckily, after that episode, he fell alseep upright-ish instead of flat and slept the rest of the flight. DH slept.

Me? I was terrified if I fell asleep that I'd miss DS waking up to puke again! So I stayed awake the entire flight. All night. Watching my family sleep. Oh well...when we arrived home this morning, I took DS to our bed and the two of us slept until about 1:00 this afternoon. Wowza!!

My stomach still isn't right--I tell DH this and he says "I bet you're pregnant." WAIT a minute...I haven't been downing ANY strawberries folks! :) He was kidding (let's hope) but boy we both feel gross.

I've caught up on the pages I missed I think... Love all the FE debates. I'm good with WHATEVER...and I say it's all about having fun together & seeing little surprises is awesome. So any way it goes, we're all good!

When we got in this morning, our housesitter had left a special package on top of our mail pile--my FE came in the mail!! It's beyond cute & personalized with "The Williams Family" and I can't wait to use it.

Hope everyone is warm & having a good week. We're trying to catch up on sleep around here!
