Yay!!! Somebody from PA too!!!!

We haven't made our flight reservations yet because we're spending a few days at WDW before the cruise. His DMom, DNana and DBrother I believe are flying down the same day as you.

I'm so excited about the cruise!!!!!! :)

We are also from PA and DE. DH and I live in Upper Chichester, DD and BF live in Phoenxville. Other DD and BF live in Wilmington, DE. The PA end of us have booked our flights on AirTran DH and I leave at 3 PM. DD and BF leave at 5:30

FLtours I just got an online quote from them for a round trip limo and the cost is $305 plus 20% tip AND a $25 grocery stop fee! This was WAY more than I was expecting. Any thoughts?:confused3

How many people? Used Happy Limo for our NY Eve cruise mentioned that I got their name from Mousesavers and received a $10.00 credit. Very pleased with their service both our drivers were great!! We had a mishap with our suitcase and had to make an emergency stop at Walmart for a new suitcase our driver couldn't have been nicer about stopping. Also, tip was up to us we were not given any suggestions.

Hey all,

I've been procrastinating my desire to post this question/thought because I thought the answer might reveal itself over time..but as we get deeper into discussions of secret mickeys (or since we're at sea maybe Secret Ariels? or Nemos? or Flounders? or Pirates?) and fish extenders....it seems a good time to ask the question.

So what exactly does it mean to sign up for "fish extender fun"? On my last cruise where we did fish extenders...it really wasn't that formal...we didn't actually sign up for anything. People who WANTED to bring little gifts just brought enough for everyone on the DIS thread and then went around and put them in people's fish extenders (if they had one...if they didn't they'd often leave them hanging on the doorknob or even ask the housekeeping staff to put it in the room for them). Our group ALSO did a secret mickey which was much more formal. People who wanted to do it signed up and the names got shuffled around by someone who was the coordinator and each participant was assigned a cruiser or cabin (some people did it individually and others as couples) then set a price limit, etc. So here is my question:

1.) Is the list of people signing up for "fish extender fun" with Kimberly people who are just letting her know that we intend to have a fish extender on our door so people know how many gifts to bring if they want to bring little goodies?.....or....

2.) Are these people who sign up committing themselves to not only receive but to also GIVE fish extender gifts?

Also, if it's the former then I wonder do we really need a closed group on the other website? (which I must confess I signed up for but haven't looked at in months....I barely have time to read this thread much less a whole other website with its own sign ups and posts and discussion threads and such! :lmao: .....although I definitely appreciate all the hard work that obviously went into that site!).

Also, if we do end up creating a secret mickey event for this cruise, then Jason and I would happily join that fun (as a couple/cabin)!

Erik - I don't know the answer, but I like what you posted. People could leave their FE's outside the cabin and maybe get some little treats but no pressure on anyone to feel the need to bring something for everyone's FE's. I like the secret Mickey idea if people are game and want to "sign up". Heck, we could even use the FE's to leave little notes! Like, pass out meet times and such? Or leave messages? PLAY TAG?

Oh, and welcome Cheryl! :cheer2:

Lois: please tell me about your excursion to Tulum. My parents really wanted to do an excursion to the ruins, but don't want to travel 2 hours on a bus to get there. How hot is it? My dad is 76 and I am not sure he would want to be in 100 degree heat for a few hours. I did read on the excursion that part of the tour is spent at the small each near Tulum. Let me know your thoughts. They are looking into all of the ruins excursions at both Cozumel and Costa Maya, but are leaning towards Cozumel because of the malaria caution for inland Costa Maya near Belize and Quintanroo (they cannot take any anti-malaria medications).

To begin it will be very hot and it is 45 min from cozumel to the main land then you walk for about 10 min to the bus. Then another hour to Tulum. There is one stop on the way to Tulum to a giftshop with a restroom. Once at Tulum you spend several hours walking around Tulum. It was awesome but very hot. I really enjoyed Tulum but I would recomend that you try the ruines that are closer I think they might enjoy them more. The travel to and from was very tirering. Hope this helps. Lois

I am so sorry to see you are not able to cruise will us. I understand wanting to do what is best for family. Best wishes on the new/different jobs and finding the perfect family vacation.
Lois

Thank you, Lois! I know you will have a great time!

It's always exciting to meet other people from PA! I live in Allentown and my DBF lives in the Horsham area.. I know where Phoenxville is because one of my good friends lives in Pottstown!

Is this your first Disney Cruise? It's our first Disney Cruise so I"m SOOOOO excited to go!

Is there another excursion that goes to closer ruins? I really want to see some ruins in Cozumel but not sure about the long ride. I'll have to talk to my DBF to see what he says. I really want to try to stick to something that is guided if at all possible.

Since this is a "special cruise" do you think the pirate party will be on a different night? Wednesday we are in Cozumel.

So I see MNSSHP is Saturday October 4th.

Tickets go on sale on May 1st.

I am thinking about adding this to my end of cruise activities.

Anyone else throwing this idea around???

They usually let people in at 4pm I have read to the MK for hard ticket events. This will allow myself and kids to sort of relax and perhaps nap after being booted off the ship in the early AM once my credit card clears.

Trick is to get a hotel that has early check in available.
My other issue with this idea is the "Rain" factor.
I gotta pre-pay for the hard event and I would hate to have it be raining.
Those are the risks....

Thoughts?

So far our plan it to do Epcot, but We did LOVE MNSSHP so it may be an option for us!!!!!

I am so excited to hear that the MNSSHP is on Saturday. We had thought it was going to be on the Friday before the cruise so it was not an option for us - our children are already missing three days of school, so missing Friday was not a good idea.

Now that it is on Saturday though, I think I can convince my DH to go for it!!!!

Thanks for the good news. We went to the Pirate & Princess Party this past summer and really enjoyed it. I will keep you posted as to what we decide.

I have not done FE's on previous cruises...so I was just assuming this is how it goes, but....I thought the list was basically so those who were interested would know the locations of the FE's. I for one plan on hitting everyone but I understand that can be time consuming for some (I have little helpers!)..of course no reciprocation necessary..though I may identify that my gift came from me I do not expect return gifts from everyone. I know someone mentioned earlier splitting the list in half since it is a large group (maybe by location). That is fine by me....but like I said I want to hit everyone at least once. My plan was actually to do two separate drops...one at the beginning of the cruise...one towards the end. However we do it.....it should stay FUN. If we have to break it up by deck even so nobody is overwhelmed...so be it. I'm sure with this group of great minds we can work out a good plan.:thumbsup2

As far as secret Mickey goes....it sounds like a great idea, I just wonder how it is implemented. Not the picking part, but when you actually "deliver" the gift. I'm assuming the value of secret mickey items is much higher than FE items.....that the point behind SM is to spend a little more time, money and thought into a gift that is more personal to the recipient. So I personally assumed the gift would have value of $20-30 (correct me if I'm wrong!:rolleyes1 ) If that's the case, I would not feel comfortable just "leaving" a gift of that caliber in a FE or at a stateroom doorstep (lots of threads lately about stolen magnets, FE's etc.). So maybe some of you who have done this before can enlighten me. How do you leave the gift and keep it anonymous yet be sure it will not be pilfered or molested!:confused3

Either way, we're in for both!!!:cool1:

I went to MVMCP in November...they do let you in early. In fact we got in well before 4 pm....it was closer to 3pm (between 3:15 and 3:30). We've only stayed on-property one time before (Contemporary) but check in time was late afternoon. Later than it was supposed to be in fact. You may have better luck getting early check in if you look off property!

I got my money yeasterday........ Those happy little buggers at DCL are getting most of it..LOL:scared:

Where are you seeing the dates for MNSSHP 2008? I remember last year a lot of sites had dates down as parties and some of them were wrong on their dates once Disney officially released them.

ETA: I'm wondering if you are looking at the 2007 dates which did have a Oct 4th party? I would be really surprised if they had MNSSHP on a Saturday night. Last years dates were released around April 27th from Disney although there was a lot of speculation happening before then.

ArghHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I saw the Dates on Deb Wills site who is very dependable.

Of course I just noticed that the link brought you to the 2007 page.
I guess 2008 has not been released yet.

Doh!!!!

You got me all excited about a Sat night MNSSHP:goodvibes thats OK, less money we have to put out since we have days left on our hoppers, Epcot for us to enjoy the Food and Wine Festiveal YUMMY

Popping back in to say hi! We've been out of pocket for the past week...took the Munchkin to Maui. The weather rocked, he had a blast in the ocean. The flight there was a breeze (he's an amazing traveler!)

The trip home last night was ROUGH. I thought we'd be good to go since we were in first class & they had "lay flat" seats...but it was at a slight angle & DS kept sliding down the seat. A 4 year old who is sleepy does not have patience for such hassles :) Add to that the meal on board was making people sick. After eating it, DH & myself didn't feel well and DS said his tummy hurt.

So I asked for a barf bag from the flight attendant **just in case**, figuring we wouldn't need it but I didn't want to be fishing around in the middle of the night for something for DS to barf in.

Sure enough, he sat up many times crying, & when I finally put him on my lap I saw that tell tale "mouthing" of someone who's about to lose it. Bag was handy. Four year old ROCKS at aiming his ick & made it all into the bag. NO mess at all. Was I relieved or WHAT? Poor baby. Luckily, after that episode, he fell alseep upright-ish instead of flat and slept the rest of the flight. DH slept.

Me? I was terrified if I fell asleep that I'd miss DS waking up to puke again! So I stayed awake the entire flight. All night. Watching my family sleep. Oh well...when we arrived home this morning, I took DS to our bed and the two of us slept until about 1:00 this afternoon. Wowza!!

My stomach still isn't right--I tell DH this and he says "I bet you're pregnant." WAIT a minute...I haven't been downing ANY strawberries folks! :) He was kidding (let's hope) but boy we both feel gross.

I've caught up on the pages I missed I think... Love all the FE debates. I'm good with WHATEVER...and I say it's all about having fun together & seeing little surprises is awesome. So any way it goes, we're all good!

When we got in this morning, our housesitter had left a special package on top of our mail pile--my FE came in the mail!! It's beyond cute & personalized with "The Williams Family" and I can't wait to use it.

Hope everyone is warm & having a good week. We're trying to catch up on sleep around here!

Welcome back, Heather...sorry to hear the trip back was so bad!!! :sad2:
As I was reading your post all I could think of was the movie "Airplane"....:rotfl: No eggs were coming out of anyone's mouth, were there??? (Sorry!)
