Which one? I work at the Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown, PA.

We are members of the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, CA (aka The Cube). We also spend lots of time at the CA Science Center in Los Angeles, which is actually closer to us. :)

Re packing: I will absolutely be overpacking. I always do. I am of the "I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it" camp, whatever "it" may be. :) I am, however, an excellent packer. :thumbsup2

I guess I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. Nor will it be the last. I guess we should all just take a credit card just in case. If you don't use a card I would guess having the cash in your on board account would work. Anyone know for sure one way or the other? Lois

I am 100% positive that on our last cruise we were allowed to book our deposits for onboard booking to our stateroom account because we got a substantial credit on that cruise because we bought DVC ownership aboard the ship and the credit we got for doing so basically paid the deposit for one of us to book the Double Dip.

That said, however, I would still suggest having another credit card handy to pay the fee if you have to....and, if possible, make it your Chase Disney Visa card because i believe there is often an ADDITIONAL bonus or stateroom credit if you book using your Disney Visa card.

If anyone out there doesn't have a Chase Disney card....go get one now!!! A year ago Jason and I didn't have one either because we didn't see the need or benefit to have yet ANOTHER credit card....but Hadley convinced us that it was worthwhile because of the opportunity to earn Disney Reward dollars back for every $100 you spend on the card...so as soon as we got home we applied and got a Disney Visa. We have since paid off all our other credit cards and use the Disney card almost exclusively and as often as we possibly can. We even use it now when we have cash available and just send a payment immediately to cover the new charges. In the less than year that we've had the Chase card we've already earned nearly $350 Disney Reward dollars----which will come in handy aboard the ship to pay for excursions and spa treatments!!! :goodvibes

I agree 10000% on the Disney Visa, I plan to pay my tips with the reward dollars:dance3:

I also agree 10000% about the Disney Visa! My DBF and I just bought a new bed today and it went on my Disney Visa so we can get points for our vacations this year (we're going twice, once with my family in July and then to WDW before the cruise and then the cruise!).

The only thing I can say is to try to pay it off every month because I believe the interest rates maybe high. I pay mine off every month, but somebody I know didn't and she said it was pretty high. I don't know if it is that way now though.

We Disney Visa for everything but gas and groceries (we get 2% cash back on those with MasterCard :thumbsup2 )

Speaking of Disney Visa, when we booked through Sam's Club we tried to get the $50 OBC by using the DV. They would not give it to us (something about getting a group rate already, so no more discounts). But when we go to pay it off next month, I would think we might stand a chance then. Anyone else trying to get the DV OBC? Thanks

I might have to look into this Disney Visa thing......

Guess what I got in the mail today? An explanation of how much we were getting for the economic stimulus plan! Of course, we already knew how much it would be, as it had been put into our account three days ago.

Gotta love the government. :rotfl: But hey, it's paying for new carpet, so I'm not complaining!

Hadley, great pics!

When we booked a future cruise on board, they said we were eligible for the $200 OBC, but not the Disney Visa OBC.. I did get the 6 months financing option on my deposit....

Ok, guys, my family and allllll our dirty laundry are back.

Short summary: Beaaaaautiful weather, little to no waves, Key West is like New Orleans without the "smell", Grand Cayman's Pirate Encounter was a horrible choice for my princess: , Cozumel was really sunny, and Castaway Cay is where I hope to be reincarnated. Oh, and yes, you can throw your DCL deposit on your on-board account. :rolleyes1 Yes, Greg, you were right about prices--they're higher without a group cruise rate. Fiona refused to take a nap most days, so by about 6 pm she turned into a holy terror who demanded DESSERT and CLUB!!!

Hadley: Whispering Canyon and All-Star Movies were a bust! Where do I trade in the family and get a new one??? :rotfl: All-Star Movies reaked of cigarette smoke, and the pools had no shade. Whispering Canyon was just way too loud for DH's delicate sensibilities. On the other hand, Movies' Food court was great, and Fiona loved the toddler pool, though I couldn't stay too long due to the lack of shade. Beach Club for Mother's Day was the BOMB, though, so I saved my skin! DH has me checking into buying DVC for Beach Club, he enjoyed the pool so much! :thumbsup2 I'm scorched, they're tanned. :sad2: And yes, I reapplied the mama jama sunscreen, it just didn't work.

Ok, now I'm really off to do laundry. Gimme a call if you want more details, 'cause I'll be chained to the washer for the next 4 days, probably! :laundy: :rotfl:

Hadley, great pics!

Jason got his stimulus deposit last Friday and got his letter about it today, too. I still haven't gotten a thing and it's making me crazy....because that whole stimulus check is going to the Disney Visa!! :)

Glad you cruise was fun

We own DVC at the Beach Club and LOVE IT, we bought resale ( I think its the only way to get Beach club these days) we got a 100 point contract and its truly the best purchase we have ever made!!!! We stayed there in 2006 in a 2 bedroom, Crissichef, here dh, dd and ds joined us. Steve and the kids and I went Dec 2007 and stayed in a studio, My kids LOVED the pool and enjoyed leaving the parks to go back and swim. I highly recommend BCV. We also LOVE the Boardwalk and hope to stay there in 2010 when we go back:)

I just checked our cruise again and there are cat 4 and cat 9's available to book as of today.

Hi all. So, how do the Disney Reward dollars work with the Visa? Do you get a certain $$ amount per $100 you put on the card?? Thanks.

Yes, you basically get 1% back on all your charges. So for every $100 that you spend you get 1 point....the points then accrue and you redeem them as Disney Reward Dollars which you can spend like credit/cash basically using the special Disney Rewards Card that they give you. The Reward Dollars are basically good everywhere Disney. As you accrue more points over time you have them transferred over to you Rewards Card so that you can spend them.

Enjoy spending those stimulus checks & I hope they're for something "stimulating!" hehehehee We don't get any...so I'll have to find other ways to stimu....oh never mind ;)

We're all here recovering from food poisoning (we think) on Mother's Day. Today Hubby & I are finally back to semi-normal. Luckily, Reese (4) won't eat the same thing we eat from Panda Express so he didn't share in our misery. Ugh.

Fizz--glad you're back safely & isn't the laundry always a bummer to come back to? I could sort & wash for days & days, it's the folding & putting away that I loathe.

Actually, I loathe it SO much, that as we design our new home, our laundry room connects to a FAMILY CLOSET! That way, everything gets put away in one place...no more hauling laundry all over the house to put it back. BEFORE you shower, you go grab your clothes to wear.

Hope everyone is having a nice week! Hubby showed me how to set my blogs as a tab in Mozilla, so now I have the tab as a reminder to check here more often! :)

Glad you're feeling a least a little better. That really stinks that you got sick on Mother's Day - of all days! I hope the rest of your day was nice!

It was interesting...the symptoms I had & Hubby had came on exactly the same time. So we were both really, really ragged towards the evening. We ate the bad food for a late lunch...

But he pulled a Mother's Day favor and even though HE felt like h*ll, he took over with Reese and I just laid on the couch and watched Jon & Kate Plus 8 while trying not to vomit. We all went to bed at 8:00, and Reese was a trooper and watched Star Trek while I shivered with a fever in bed (Reese sleps in our room) & Hubby slept upright on the couch.

What fun! Like I said though, I'm just glad Reese didn't eat the same thing we ate because I'd rather feel horrible instead of him

You get 1% back on all the purschases you make. Then when you are ready to spend it you request a rewards card and the balance is put on the card and it is used much like a credit or gift card.

We use the card for all of our monthly expenses that we can. The key is to pay it off each month because if you are paying interest on a balance you lose any benefit of the 1% back.

Hope this info helps. Lois
