Shirley did post the no liquor information on her helpful info. thread, under the shipping boxes section, but I read on another one that she is going to check into more. Hopefully it will change.

Ahoy Mates,

Today I made another payment on my cruise. While my Travel Agent was on the phone with Disney Cruise Line calling in my payment I had her ask about the increase of the port charges. According to DCL, since I booked at the end of Sept. 07 I will not have to pay the added port charge. I also had her ask about Costa Maya and as of today no changes have been made, we're still scheduled to go there. Of course things change, but I thought I would pass on this info.

Hi all. Welcome to any newbie's

Great snow pics Drea!

The liquor rule changes are freakin me out:scared1: Bringing our own liquor onboard was going to be a great way to off-set the cost of being on a DISNEY CRUISE :rolleyes1

To all of you seasoned cruisers: I am going to be booking a Panama Canal cruise for my husband and myself for late 2009. Right now the only cruise line that has PC cruises toward the end of 2009 is Holland. I am leaning more toward Princess or RCCL. (Can't afford Disney for that long of a cruise). Has anyone here ever done a PC cruise with another line? Any advice, opinions, experiences you all could share would be great! Thanks. :worship:

I just read on the other threads:

No more water, soda, or liquor is allowed to be carried on.:sad1: It is also on the helpful info. thread from Shirley.

I also just read that the US Coast Guard will not allow boxes to be shipped and put onboard, either. So IDS (the company who has received packages and got them to the ship), is now rejecting packages. Shirley also mentioned that they've beefed up security for her and Norm to get through checkpoints. Perhaps this will change by Sept, but I would not plan on it. Clearly there's a reason or two for this change, and even though it stinks, it's for our safety.

This certainly changes some of my packing stategies, and no doubt for many of you it will be a challenge as well, especially if you need to pack diapers and liquid formula. So keep in mind that you'll only be allowed to bring 2 pieces of luggage and one carry-on for each passenger.

No liquor? They might as well kill me now!

LMAO Thats what I was thinking too! :scared1:
Im so upset.. really im not an alcoholic, I just play one on vacation LOL:rotfl:
But thats one reason why E and I were ok with going on a Disney Vacation and spending more money for the kids to have there activities and this way we offset the price tag by being able to BYOB'ssss.

Guess Ill just have to try and sneak a few things in our suitcases.

Hopefully this means just shipping stuff on. and not Bringing it on! A girl can hope. If so I need to start up a seperat budget for drinks. OY. will that be a big budget LOL :rolleyes1

Liquid formula is exempted from TSA requirements, so I don't think that will be a problem. I'll go pull up the link from TSA and add it here later.

Here's the TSA link: http://www.tsa.dhs.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/formula.shtm

Also, the water on the ship is filtered via reverse osmosis, so you should feel ok with using it to mix up formula, if necessary. On excursions, I would use bottled water or a bottle of water filled from the ship's tap. As for heating bottles (if necessary), you would not have access to a microwave on the boat, so you would need hot water. The tap can get pretty hot, and you could use a coffee cup to put the bottle in. You could also use room service to get a carafe of hot water delivered. The carafes actually kept hot water hot overnight for me to make morning tea.

Hope that helps someone!

LOL, I already thought of that and made sure to include an electric bottle warmer on my registry! If only I could add a little note next to it "Desperately need for THE CRUISE!"

:rotfl2:

How are you planning on making bottles when you're off the ship?

I just checked www.cruisecal.com to see how many ships would be at Cozumel at the same time as the Magic. I looked up the date of Oct 1,2008 and the Magic was not listed. I thought I had the wrong date so I looked up the entire schedule of the Magic.

Our cruise is completely gone:scared1: . The Magic shows nothing in the calendar from Sept 7 through Oct 3.

I think I had checked a few monts back and our cruise was there, I hope this doesnt have anything to do with the engine problems, I hope they are not thinking they may have to extend dry dock to fix thm:scared1:

I check disneycruise.com and they are showing a Wester October 4, shouldnt that be an Eastern since we would have just gotten back from a Western? Also, our cruise is showing no vacation dates available, that means its sold out, not cancelled right?

I am getting nervous...

I"m not getting email notification of postings again. Anyone else having this problem??

Yes. I am just checking this thread every so often.

I'm not bleeding until I'm hurt; aka, I'm not worrying about any cancelled cruise until I get notification from my TA, Greg.

Ok, well, I should also state I'm not buying my plane tickets just yet, either...

Keep in mind that our cruise is a "special itinerary", so it's not considered "the Western", so that's probably why it appears to be out of synch.

As for "no vacation dates available", you are correct that it's because it is sold out. Like Brandie said, I don't think there's any reason to panic at this point. Besides, I cannot imagine that TA's wouldn't be informed if there was a cancellation after the source for that website was made aware of cancellations. **fingers crossed**

I just checked my reservation on the disneycruise website and its still there so I think were safe and the cruise is still on.

We (6) have all bought our plance tickets. If the cruise is cancelled we will spend the week in Disney and I will book them on the Sept 12, 09 cruise with us. Always have to have a back up plan. :thumbsup2
