Okay my disbuddies, I need some prayers for a family who lives around the corner from us....their 18 year old son, who just graduated from my DD's high school in June, died yesterday morning while at college from bacterial meningitis. I am heartbroken for his parents and his friends. The teens in the neighborhood held a candle ceremony in front of his house yesterday. It was very sad and very moving. My DD knew him, but was not close since she was in 9th grade and he was in 12th, although a good friend of hers had a huge crush on him. Thanks for letting me share and make sure you give all your children an extra hug tonight.

That is so sad. I will keep them in my prayers.:grouphug:

Hi gang,

I was reading another thread on the main board and noticed that DCL seems to have shaken up the dining rotations on the Western cruises. According to some who posted this is in anticipation of the Mexican Riviera cruises this summer, but the new rotation has already been implemented. Supposedly not only new rotations, but new menus as well (those haven't been implemented yet). Nobody really seems to know much about it as far as if it is permanent and will be in place for our cruise...:confused3
Just when I thought I had the other one "down pat"....now I will have to really go back to the drawing board as far as determining when to make Palo reservations, etc. Anyway, here is an example of how they are doing it now...

APLAPLA is now APPLAPL 5:45/8:15
PLAPLAP is now PLLAPLA 6:00/8:30
LAPLAPL is now LAAPLAP 5:30/8:00
Saturday - Cruise Casual, All Aboard Show
Sunday - Cruise Casual, Walt Disney Theatre Showtime with Alfred and Seymour
Monday - Formal Attire, The Golden Mickeys
Tuesday - Cruise Casual - Twice Charmed
Wednesday - Pirate or Cruise Casual - Movie in the Walt Disney Theatre
Thursday - Semi-Formal, Disney Dreams
Friday - Cruise Casual - Remember the Magic Show

Don't know which days are which menus, nor can I say for sure if this is only for the WEST COAST (aka Mexican Riviera) or WESTERNS (of which our cruise is an alternate variety of)....its not really clear in the thread. We do know they're already doing it in the current WestERNS. Something for all of us to think about anyway.....right around the time as we are counting down to the 90 day mark to make the reservations!

Hope everyone is well....haven't said too much on here lately but I haven't been the only one. I know we have a lot of scrappers on this cruise and I am proud to announce I just completed my very first digital scrap layout!! Actually I just discovered digital scrapping about two weeks ago, downloaded PSE6 trial, watched a few you tube tutorials and SNAP...I created a L/O! Woo hoo! (It's actually a program ad for Savannah's dance recital program) Tell me what you think....

I can't even imagine.

You know, every day at work I see tragedies happen, especially to young men. After three years of working on a rehab unit attached to the trauma center, it still breaks my heart every single time.

Oh how sad. I can only imagine what that family is going through. How very sweet of the kids to do a candle light vigil. My thought will be with them!

I want to welcome "Tumbleweeds" to our group! She and her family will be joining their friends on our cruise. Tumbleweed's family of four has two DDs. So, in our tradition............ :)

The youngest, DD10, will have eight other princesses her age, and the oldest, DD12, will run into five other ladies her age from our DISboard family.

Again, welcome to the fun!!

Hi buddies! I seem to go in fits & spurts checking in here.

Let's see...last week we had about 6 inches of snow here in northern TX. That was neat & it lasted for 1 day and then it was gone. Perfect to play in, but nothing to get messy!

I'm really curious about all the "riots" because of skipped ports of whatever. I'll have to go find those threads! Like the Captain REALLY wants to piss off customers? It's for your SAFETY people! Act like adults. Come on!

All is well here. Just checking in & saying hi. Hope everyone is well!

Lee Ann, that's such heartbreaking news. I cannot even begin to imagine. It's so touching that there were all of those young kids who honored him with the candlelight ceremony. I'll certainly keep everyone who is impacted, especially his family, in my prayers.

Hi, Jen! Nice to see you pop in! How are you and Sarah feeling? Your digital scrapbook page is great! You're going to be addicted to capturing memories this way!

Speaking of scrapbooking...early this evening, I got back from a 3-day girls' retreat to Amish Country (Berlin, Ohio) to scrapbook. I went with my best friend since Kindergarten (who lives up near Cleveland) and her two college roommates. As for the crop, there were nearly 65 of us in total, and we had a blast! To keep me in the cruising state-of-mind, I decided to take pictures to scrap from my southern Caribbean cruise in 2000. It made me so excited to think about scrapping our DDD cruise next winter when it's cold and snowy out and in need of warm happy memories!

Oh! I have to tell you all about the YUM-MY dinner we had Friday night. The organizer of our crop made arrangements for about 24 of us to eat dinner on the farm of a local Amish family...truly....we parked the mini-van right between barns. The food was so amazing. My mouth is watering thinking about it. We had homemade bread with the famous Amish peanut butter spread or fresh butter, chicken that melted off your fork that was initially fried and then oven baked, homemade creamy noodles, tender roast beef that disintegrated in your mouth in a thick gravy, mashed potatoes and chicken gravy, and delicious green beans with a mild amount of bacon for flavor.

Now picture The Waltons. We were all seated in one loonnngggg table and served family style. The hostess and her daughter would pass a bowl of the same food to each side of the table, and you passed it down the table to your neighbor to serve herself. It was so nice to have this Walton's family moment with near strangers. We were all commenting on that.

Well, since I went to bed last "night" at 4:30 am getting only 4 hours of sleep after only 5 hours the night before, I need to take care of some things, eat dinner, and collapse in bed.

Have a great week everyone!

Jen the page is adorable. I want to get into digi scrapping also. But Need to use all my paper good I have 1st LOL. Congrats to Savannah also!

Kimberly, how fun on the crop. That food sounds amazing! You will have to share your layouts to give me some ideas for the cruise E and I took in July. I still havent scrapped those.. Heck I havent scrapped for the family since J was 1 LMAO. He's now 5 going on 6... I best get a move on.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I went to a friends house last night and we had girls night in. Played some poker (I actually won $15) and drank, and eat lots of good but bad for you food! So I will be hitting the rack early also!

Happy St Paddy's Day to all

Thanks everyone for your prayers and thoughts! It's nice to be able to turn to you folks when life seems to overwhelm. :lovestruc

Jen I absolutely love your scrapbook page. Your DD is beautiful. Enjoy your scrapbooking adventures. I am envious....I am happy that I can get my DCL pictures in the DCL photo album that I buy onboard. I used to be creative, but never seem to be able to find the time now....or more accurately, never make the time now.

Kimberly, sounds like a great weekend. We have met some very nice, friendly Amish families during our trips to Lancaster, PA. The food is awesome!!

Welcome aboard tumbleweeds. This is a great group you are joining.

I read the thread about the dining rotation changes and the new menus. We should get alot more information within the next few months. I was wondering if this would impact our cruise dining as well. At least we have a few months till we can make our Palo reservtions.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

nenner1, from the update to my thread about the port times getting shorter on the Western, I think the rotations are for Mexican cruises. I say that because Formal Night hasn't changed from Monday on that cruise. Oh, and great job on your scrapbook page! :thumbsup2

Donald & Daisy Duck:

Welcome aboard, tumbleweeds!

ETA: Well, now I'm confused again. Here's from my May 3, 2008 cruise thread, from the March 8th travel reports: "Yes, the dining rotations have changed. Our rotation was APPLAPL at 5:45 PM. It looks like you repeat your restaurant on your second and third nights, third night being formal night on the Western."

Oh no! I'm so sorry. I will pray for him and the family. A couple people we know need prayers too. They found out they have Cancer.

I'll do the brunch, but I seem to remember that you can't do it until a month out. I'll double check on that. You can have reservations for the private room and regular reservations, but not on the same day.

I also remember I'll need names, number of people, and stateroom number. You can PM me the info.

I got my passporters guide book in the mail today.:yay:

Ken

:goodvibes Oh!!! I'm so jealous! I was thinking about arriving soon just last night as I picked up my previous edition. Glad to hear that they are "in the mail"!!

Is it worth getting the new passporter if you already have one of the earlier editions? We have been on four DCL cruises and have the 4th edition DCL passporter and were wondering if we should purchase the new edition - is the information on the ports we are visiting worth it?

Kimberly - love your avatar

I just read on the other threads:

No more water, soda, or liquor is allowed to be carried on.:sad1: It is also on the helpful info. thread from Shirley.

I got my new Passporter today also, I bought it basically for the information on the new ports.
