I really have to read through this thread. I'm so behind.

Anyway, bad news. DCL says you can't book the private dining room for tea, only brunch and dinner. So that's out. When we went in 2004, one of our lot was at the front of the line to board, and rushed to Palo and just reserved spaces for everyone she knew who wanted to do tea on one of the sea days. I guess that's an additional option, but we'll be traveling with my sister (maybe) and even if not, relying on hotel shuttle to get us to the port, so we might not be as early as we usually are when dh drives.

Just curious. I suppose the first time I could have a Konc Kooler and the 2nd time have a Miami Vice.

Anyhow, as soon as this message was released all the marines in E's shop said well we know when Gunny wants to go on leave in Sept to go to play with Mickey Mouse LOL So if it sticks he will get a big whopping 20days leave of which he has already put in for it around our cruise time. We have come to accept it if it does stick, but are still hoping for a lil magic that it gets changed back.

Sorry to hear about the extension. My husband's deployment is 400 days. All of his unit's deployments are well over a year, we were happy he got such a short one. My nephew (Army) had 14 and 16 months with two different units. This will be our first so hopefully I won't go nuts.

OMG that is just ridiculous that they have people over there for that long of a time frame. I hope it goes quick for you, and I will definatly keep my b*tching, whining, and complaining to a minimum. What we women put up with for love and that *HUGE* military paycheck LMAO please note my sarcasim

I know I'm not sailing anymore, but I still like to pop in and say hi - I can't cut the ropes.... anyway I had a thought - what if everyone who wants to meet for tea shows up en mass at Lumiere's on a day when it is open for lunch, ask for a large table, order tea and finger sandwiches and desserts. would they say no????

I hate to see people gone from their families for so long. The AF is usually 6 months, or a little less - cuz then they don't have to pay PCS $$$ - always the bottom line, you know. My prayers are with them!

It is. He originally volunteered (before we adopted Madalyn) to go for an 18 month deployment. But they didn't want to pay the BAH and took only single/non dependent shackled sailors for that one.

Complain all you want. I hear Marines deploy shorter but more often, so which is better? Short of all out catastrophe, dh won't go again before he's out. And he's in the Navy, and they're sending him to a landlocked country. People keep asking, "why are you going there". He's being lent to the Army. So I guess he's really in the "Narmy" or something.

So now it'll be me and 4 kids, one who doesn't speak English, and needs major surgery on his palate and major speech therapy. Plus we homeschool, so that's another issue. I'm so going to need this vacation when it comes.

I made my reservation back on Sept 23, 2007 for our stay on Friday, September 26, 2008. I just checked their on-line site, and I found that they currently have a "Hot Deal" rate on the Sleep Number rooms that reduced my rate $30 taking it down to $99 for one room plus tax ($109.89 total).

The only "catch" is that you will be billed immediately. She also said they cannot guarantee the number of beds in a room (we have 3 people) when you book a Hot Deal. So of course my immediate response was "So you're saying that you would put 3 or 4 people in one bed???" I'm not really concerned about that being an issue, so I went ahead and made the adjustment on my reservation for the Hot Deal.

As for the cancellation policy, here's what is quoted from the email confirmation I received:

"The following is a brief description of the rate features for your convenience:** Full payment due at time of booking ** Cancellations made within 3 days of arrival will be charged 1 night plus tax. Cancellations made 4 or more days prior to arrival will be charged $25.00."

From what I remember from my D.D in 2006, the food at Cookies BBQ was the same, but it's soooo good.

Wow you guys have pre night hotel booked already.

I guess I do it later because it often depends how many points I have from which hotel chain from work.

I was thinking about booking the airfare to lock myself into going on the cruise. I still technically can cancel for full refund.

We have stayed at Country Inn and Suites both time pre-cruise. We found it satisfactory and the free breakfast in the morning was just enough to give us some fuel before Parrot Cay.

We are planning on getting there late on Friday nite so it really will not matter which hotel as long as it is "clean"

I thought once you paid for the cruise you can book things ahead of time? I was looking around, but it looks like you can't until right before the cruise. Is that right? I just wanted to make sure I am not looking at the wrong thing. I just paid it off with our tax money and now I wanted to book some things ahead of time.

As a first time cruiser, you either have to wait until 75 days before we set sail, or pay for concierge (or Romance Experience at Sea - $359) to be able to book in the first booking window at 105 days before we set sail.

Hi All,

I have been absent for a bit. Just had a lot going on and tired and having a hard time getting myself to sit down and type a post--sorry to disapear like that.

GOOD NEWS: Thanks for all the pixie dust. Our entire family is cast in Peter Pan. Marika and I are Indians, Dave is Cecco the pirate (he gets killed ) and Rio is Nibs the lost boy. We are so excited and it is so much fun to do theatre together. Bonus, this is a free activity and is close to home meaning we do not spend very much on gas. This is especially important because of the . . .

BAD NEWS: Dave's new position in the company is at a plant about 20 miles form home (increasing his commute by 30 miles total per day) and pays substantially less than his old position. Sigh But, the econmomy is not good at all at the momnet, especially for manufacturing jobs and many, many people wre flat out let go. So, we are trying to count our blesssings and get through this until the economy turns around. We have decided we WILL take this vacation (we LOVE our Disney fix) and will make it work one way or another. So, now knowing I will not lose the cruise it is easier to post over here again I think I am much better off than those of you who have to wonder if your spouse will even be home from deployments to cruise with you I don't know how you do it.

I will be starting to PM people who have not sent me lanyard info here in the next week or so. PLEASE check post 6 and send the lanyard info in before you get a PM--it will cut my workload in half Many, many thanks to those of you who have already done so. Did anyone else receive the email from DreamsUnlimited about the port fee increase in Mexico? Here is the main message. I wish I could pay mine off already but I am still waiting for my tax refund.

We have been informed by Disney Cruise Line that effective tomorrow, March 5, 2008 for sailings commencing 7/1/08 and beyond that include a Mexican port of call, the Government Taxes and Fees are increasing $5.00 per Mexican port, per person. The sailings affected are: 15-Night Eastbound Panama Canal, 7-Night Mexican Riviera, 7-Night Western Caribbean, 7-Night Western Caribbean with 2 calls at Castaway Cay and Costa Maya.

For existing reservations that are not paid-in-full, the Government Taxes and Fees will be adjusted however for reservations paid in full by today, March 4, 2008 by 8:00 PM Eastern Time the taxes will not be added unless a modification is made to your reservation. A modification that results in a price change would apply to changes in transfers, vacation protection insurance, sail date, etc.
