hello everyone,
I posted a few months back, but I thought that I would try again. DH and I are cruising with DD(almost 5) in Sept. We cruised last Sept as well. We had a great time. The one thing that we didn't like was that our tablemates (they were super nice, by the way) were another couple with an adorable baby. We would have much preferred to have someone closer to our daughter's age so that she would have had a friend at dinner. She kept looking around at all of the other tables with little girls her age who were laughing and having fun. So, I am trying to find out whether anyone else is travelling on this cruise with a similarly-aged child(ren) who may want to sit together. We have requested early seating. We live in RI. We are a professional couple (mid 30's), and I like to think that we are pretty fun to hang out with! DD is well behaved and outgoing (why do I feel like I am writing a personal ad?).
I am looking forward to seeing all of you guys on the Magic!

Emily's Mom: you cracked me up with the "personal ad" mention... May I suggest you only link reservations with another family AFTER booking windows open up and you get all the excursions, Palo, etc, you want. Otherwise you can't be in the system at the same time as the other family, which would really stink at midnight! :)

I'm cruising with my 3 year old daughter, my hubby, and my mom, but I want to say we actually have Late Dining, so we wouldn't be a good match.

Thanks for the offer, though! :hippie: Have you also posted on DISdoubledip to see if you can find a "match"? :)

Will you be purchasing the Upgraded Wine Package?

Wow for all you drinkers my tidbits

Drink of Day always fun to try.
At certain clubs you can get pitchers of certain mixed drinks
The refillable mug can be refilled with extra beer or pre-mixed drinks for the six extra ounces
Wine package beware. If you are a white wine drinker you may be paying more.
If you are ordering wine best to always get bottle. It can travel with you from dining room to dining room or you can take it with you so I can try.
Ask room attendant for Large ice container to ice down your frosty in room treats
Those little 6 oz water bottles with sport caps make excllent make shift flasks for carrying.
Always ask at bar if there is a special outside drink of day.
Cozumel will be best port for bringing liquor on board. There is a nice duty free shop at end of ramp. You can even pay the bike carriage guys for a lift. (Duty free modern store and they take credit)
Tequila and magarita tasting are combined event when I did it.
Beware of the souvenir glass. You may pay for one even if you do not want it.
If you plan on buying 5 cans of beer order 6. 6th one free. via room service. Same goes with can soda etc.
This strategy works well at dinner. You can have a cold six pack n a bucket at the table and you carry what is left upopened

Free drinks

Art auction... I love art!!!!
Captains gala
castaway club reception (soft drinks only and rice krispy mickey heads)
If we skip a port Woo Hoo!!!!
shops a cozumel sample tequila

Haha, I love it! :thumbsup2

We will be dressing up. DH will be in jeans and a black T-shirt with a skull & crossbones on it. I also bought him a "Jack Sparrow Kit" (stick on beaded facial hair) but as of now, he is refusing to wear it :lmao:

I will be dressed up too, but neither of us will be going all out like our kids pirate:

Janet and I plan to dress up as well. Just a pirate shirt and head wear, nothing fancy.

Yeah, that's about what we wear. Pirate shirt, bandanas, and Lionel has an eye patch. In the spirit without having to pack too much extra stuff ;)

Kimberly and Arin- Im so in for the beer and martini and margarita/te-kill-ya tasting I say we use that as an excuse to go meet the new occupents of the PARTY room 6080 LOL  Ill put P in charge of being our designate walker and to get us back to our rooms safely... :rotfl2: :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

I saw someone recently posted this about a "dune buggy" excursion through DCL they took and it sounds terrible: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=25585143&postcount=52

Must be this excursion: Dune Buggy & Beach Snorkel Combo ?

Thought I'd link that as a heads up since we're all busy planning our excursions!:thumbsup2

Wow - that's one we were considering, glad we didn't choose it!

Allright, here is a quick Question of the Week I DO realize that those of you who have not cruised DCL cannot answer this one. However, I was still finding palces to get treats on our last cruise (number 5) so I thought you can still enjoy LEARNING about all the great places to grab a bite on the Magic (I hope you'll forgive me for only including you in this way just this once anyway:flower3: ) What is your favourite place to grab a quick between meals snack on the Magic???

Welcome back! Sounds like Erik's house inspired you the way a trip to IKEA always inspires me. I get home and I look around and think how can I make this more EFFICIENT? :rotfl:

I'm going to say this is a toss-up between room service, for the whole milk and cookies or cheese plate thing any time you want it, and Cove Cafe for the lovely pastries. Also, Cove Cafe makes a mean mochaccino. :hyper:

Emilysmom, lemme introduce you to the head lush around these parts... :rotfl2:

No offense, zweihund, but Fatcat knocked you out of contention with his list of alcohol tips! And yes, Fatcat, I'm taking careful notes.

Okay - I'm sure this is somewhere in the multitude of posts but I'm really new at booking excursions (two 4-day's and I never booked an excursion) and I want to look at booking a dolphin encounter possibly through an independent.

I may need to go this way as the second cabin in my group are newbies and can't book until 75 days.

I guess I have a couple of questions:

1) Is it possible for me to book them with me at the 90-day mark (we are linked - meaning I booked both cabins together at the same time but with different people obviously!!)?

2) I realize that I can save some $$$ by booking independent and was wondering who everyone is using. I saw something called Dolphin Discovery. Is that who I book through? If I book with them, how do we get there?

Okay, any info to start would be helpful.

Thanks.

Couple more questions (not related to excursions):

We don't plan on booking dinner at Palo this trip around, but I was wondering what is offered at tea and/or brunch? And is the fee the same for tea and/or brunch?

Thanks - just trying to get my plans ready for the 90-day mark (I know I still have 1-1/2 weeks but you can never plan too much).

MagicMe - If they do not have anyone in their cabin who is not a returning cruiser, that cabin cannot book until 75 days out from the cruise.

Dinner at Palo is easier to book than brunch or tea. The prices for each meal are also different. Figure on Brunch and Tea and most dinner appointments to be booked by the time their booking window opens up.

I'm not booking independently, so I'm no help there, sorry!

Hi All -

Just wondering how many of the adults get dressed up for Pirate night and if so, what do you wear?

I would like to but not sure what I can throw together.

Thanks,
Crissi

I'm wearing a Disney Pirate T-shirt I bought on board last year, alomg with a Goofy pirate head scarf with ears.

Erik, I just wanted to congratulate you and Jason on achieving your fundraising goal for the AIDS Walk! I had your page bookmarked, and I was looking for something, running across yours. So I took a peek!

Hi MagicMe -

We booked with Dolphin Discovery directly in Cozumel. It was around $78 per adult for the dolphin encounter. Website is www.dolphindiscovery.com. If you have 4 paying people, they pay for your taxi also. The price also includes admission to the Chanukkaab Park (spelling is probably wrong) where there is a pool, resturant and beach. Small children were free (5 and under I believe). Let me know if you have any other questions and I will try to help you out! I really checked into this one before booking!

Question of the week....

:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: Thank you for booking it!!!! I'm so excited to go!!!!! :)

Let's see...

On pirate night, we'll wear what we wore last year:
Picture133.jpg

I had fun searching second hand clothes stores for our costume parts. Reese's costume was all girls' clothing (black satin cargo pants, a white "puffy" shirt & brown vest with gold pin stripes), but as a pirate costume, it was perfect and cheap! And actually, Jeff's shirt was a women's maroon puffy shirt, and my vest was a men's black leather vest. All second had stuff for cheap (my vest was $1 on sale at Goodwill!). I picked up all our jewelery trinkets either at WalMart/Target when they put out the Halloween stuff around our cruise date, and we found some other costume jewelery at Goodwill that looked pirateish. The hats came from Oriental Trading Company and fold flat for travel so they worked perfect!

Favorite place to eat on board:

Our original favorite as a family is the soft serve machine. Hubby would get two styrofoam cups from the drink station & fill them up with soft serve and bring them back to the room for us. Um, YUM!

After reading Passporter today though, I see that at the Lumiere's for breakfast you can get bagels & lox, so THAT is my new favorite place!

Ohhh...and the roomservice cheese plate is my favorite thing to eat in the room. MMMMM...
