Double Checking Logistics-Please Let Me Know if this is Right

We are arriving on a Friday night and thinking of staying at Art of Animation for two nights in a Cars family suite before moving to our week long stay at Bay Lake Tower.

We are military so we are planning on booking the Cars suite room only with a discount. We're going to buy the military special 4 day tickets. We'd like to add the dining plan on our reservation with Bay Lake Tower.

Is that possible?

Will it work like this?
Check in on Friday night to ARt of Animation room only. No dining plan Friday or Saturday. Check out of Art of Animation and check-in to Bay Lake Tower on Sunday morning (Can you do that all at the same place?) Have AoA hold/switch our luggage. Can we start the dining plan Sunday morning then since it's the first day of our reservation at Bay Lake Tower?

I think almost everything will work, but I don't think they will switch your luggage for you. You might have to take a cab after checking out of AoA and take it to Bay Lake, then check in there. They will hold your luggage at Bay Lake if your room isn't ready.

We will have a rental car, but for some reason I thought that they would move the luggage. That was the big reason why we'd stay at AoA and not at Wyndham Bonnet Creek (our home resort).

I have switched resorts before and all we had to do was take our luggage to the checkout desk and it then arrived at our room in the new resort.

Yes you can take your bags to the bell desk and they will transfer your luggage to Bay Lake. But you have to be in the room in order for them to deliver your bags. It will take a few hours for them to transport them but enjoy the day at the park or at the pool and later that afternoon call them and have them deliver your luggage.

Are you staying cash reservation or on points?

If you have a cash reservation, you have to purchase a package, which means a minimum of a one day ticket (but you could not use it and keep it for a future trip).

If you are staying on points, you have to book the dining package through the person you are renting the points from.

Dining plans must be added a minimum of 72 hours before check-in.

We frequently resort hop, but usually just pack our stuff back into our car when we switch resorts and have the bell hop at the new resort hold our bags until our room is ready. Yes, when you check into the new resort on Sun, your DDP will start.

We have a reservation through RCI. We'll just be adding the dining plan to the 7 night BLT stay. We do that through DVC Member Services.

Your DDP credits won't be available until you have checked-in at BLT, though. So if you are thinking of breakfast on Sunday, you need to go to BLT and do an early check-in (room won't be ready but you can get the KTTW card with DDP credits). Then do breakfast.
