I read on another forum that Disney is now deleting all ADR's of people who have double booked ADR's for the same day. Has anyone else heard that? I think it's great because it will keep people from double booking and allowing more room for others to book.

I have to say, I was a little worried because I had booked a dinner for us & a dinner for my parents at a different place the day that they fly down, so I called and changed their reservation over to their name. I didn't want to take a chance. While I was on the phone, I asked the CM about it and she had not heard that. Has anyone else?

There was already a 8-9 page thread on this very topic posted a couple of days ago.

The person who started the thread on the "other board" (which I am also a member of) got the story from here. The original post says.. "I was reading another Disney forum, and.." They meant THIS forum, lol.

As the "travel agent" for our family trips I always make all the dining ressies...often we tour and dine in smaller groups so we will always have multiple ressies at the same time during our trip.

The CM's told me that this is not a problem and ressies would never be cancelled...They know many families travel together but dine apart.

Why would they cancel ressies?

Can anyone link this post?

Why would they cancel ressies?

Because even though some people like you have valid reasons to book more than one reservation at the same day & time, there are also a lot of rude people who book 2 or 3 reservations for the same meal just so they can decide that day what they feel like eating.

good but I'm sure the people who would double book will find another way to still do it.
I can think of one way off the top of my head, but why post it and help them.

what they need to do is hold ADR's with a credit card, if you don't show you get charged a small fee.
or charge for an ADR and when you pay for your meal the cost of the ADR is deducted from your bill.

The post the pp was talking about I think is this.

From what I can gather is that an adr is linked to your name/phone, so say for a ressie w/ 4 people in a room: 2 people can have an adr for 2 at one restaurant linked to their name/phone, then mom and pop can have an adr for 2 at another restaurant linked to their name/phone. I *think* this way they don't get cancelled, only if same person is booking adr for full room at same times.

the one reason I thought of to make multiple ADRS is the Aloha Luau.(at the polynesian resort) I always wanted to try it, but it can be cancelled due to inclement weather. DH and I thought, "what if it's cancelled? and it's a signature. so now, at the last minute, we need to book either another signature, or 2 regular TS meals. what would be open during free dining at that late date?"
so, for that reason, we did not book the luau.
any thoughts? anyone ever book the luau and get cancelled? what did you do? I know it can be easier to get ressies at Germany, china, or morocco, but we don't care to eat at any of those again. and those restaurants need park admission. what if we planned the luau for a non-park day?:confused3

We were planning on the luau on our May trip (that never came to be)....had booked the meal for our last evening. But our plan was to order room service if it was canceled. That also takes 2 TS....and if it was raining or cold enough to cancel....it's nice to stay "in" and eat anyway. :goodvibes

... there are also a lot of rude people who book 2 or 3 reservations for the same meal just so they can decide that day what they feel like eating.

^^^ This is exactly the reason why Disney's ADR system (both on-line and for those making phone ressies) should be set up as follows. If a party is double booking dining ressies on the same day for the same meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner), then the system will automatically recognize the double booking. It would avoid the problem of getting both ressies cancelled as I hear this is what's happening to some folks.

We visited the World at the tail end of Tropical Storm Fay last August so needless to say, rain (at least at some point) every day. Great trip though! :goodvibes We had booked the Luau and found that they do not officially cancel until about 15-20 minutes prior to Luau time. So you are expected to go to the Poly and see what the skies foretell at that hour... if the luau is cancelled, you then need to wait in line to get your credits put back onto your card. (If it's early in your trip, you could do ask your resort concierge to do this later on, but it's near the end you'll need them to eat!) So a double booking wouldn't really help you unless you allow time to do all of this and then proceed to the next restaurant before your second ADR time... and if you've got kids with you... :rotfl:

We were very fortunate and the clouds parted just long enough on our Luau evening that we were not cancelled - what a fun night! (and no, we had not double booked :cutie:)

Rumors, speculations, not sure how this started as we have NO real proof yet of this happening, by mistake I had a so called DBL booking and it was NOT deleted! As a matter of fact the CM asked if I still wanted that ADR. I have heard that they are "flagging" and had a CM tell me they do that but thats it......

It would end up costing all of us a lot if they actually put a charge on your CC for every ADR. Anybody who keeps any balance will be paying interest on the charge for months before it gets removed.
Plus, with all the issues they have with the system already, how many people would cancel an ADR and not be able to get the charge off? How many people with free dining would use dining credits AND still have a charge left? How many times would they pre-charge you and then not use your dining credits? Way too many ways to mess that up.

I think a $5 or $10 credit card charge would be great (depending on the dining establishment) NOT to be charged at the time of reservation but at the time of the meal....for no shows.....would prevent alot of empty tables. SOO many times we were having our dinner with empty tables during free dining.....

lol that's funny. I have been out of town so I am a little behind right now. :)

I suspect this topic of double booked cancellations may have been created by the "Dining Police". ;) The officers are on every board..... sharing their voices of moral authority.

It just isn't a practical idea at all. If the charge is large enough to deter people from no-showing, it will also be large enough to deter some people from eating TS on site. I know it would make a difference to us. We have 6 people and 17 TS meals for our next trip. On another thread, someone suggested a $5 or $10 upfront charge per person, to secure ADRs. That would be $500 or $1000 we'd have to fork out (out of our checking account, because we don't use credit cards) on top of pre-paying our dining as part of the package cost. No thank you. And that's why Disney will never do something like that - too much lost business.

The DISer who started the thread linked in post 7 has no reason to lie - apparently it DID happen to them.

Not a charge - just take the card information and charge it only if the Guest doesn't show, or doesn't cancel before the required time. Disney already does this with several locations (CRT, Akershus...). The card ISN'T charged at the time the reservation is made.
