I awoke to the sound of someone opening my bedroom door at 6:15am. I looked up and it was Sawyer! I had put him in the portable crib in another room. Apparently, he picked the first day of our vacation to figure out how to climb out of bed. Lovely! He seemed mighty proud of himself and I was glad he came to our room instead of getting into trouble elsewhere.
We got ready and sat down for breakfast, excited to be going to the Magic Kingdom! The kids were positively giddy. Tessa was giggling up a storm because Sawyer kept getting rolls out of a package and giving them to her. Sawyer was giggling because Tessa was giggling. I was giggling because they were giggling. Henry smiled (did you really think I was going to say he giggled?).
I went outside to load some stuff into the van and caught my first glimpse of my sister in Florida. She was renting the house across the street, along with the 11 other members of my family. Look! Teresa and Mom/Dad rented matching vans. Awwww...how cute!
We were all ready around 8:30 and we headed on out to the MAGIC KINGDOM!! I was beside myself with excitement. Henry's eyes were rolling so often, I'm surprised he could see well enough to drive! When we got to 27, Tessa was met with her first trauma. This horrible scene of carnage:
She was so upset! She couldn't believe they chopped down ALL of those trees! She got upset every time we drove by it and she still talks about it.
Moving on, we pulled onto Osceola Parkway and these cones lined the road for miles. Seriously people, could they BE spaced any closer together??
We passed the Pop Century sign and my first tears of the day started welling up.
My mom and I took Tessa to Disney while I was pregnant with Sawyer. We stayed at Pop Century and we had such a magical time. Really, it was such a wonderful time and I will always cherish those memories. More eye rolling from Henry as I wipe my eyes.
Then, I spotted this:
Oh yes, more tears. I'm SUCH a sap! Henry brought my sappiness to an end when he started complaining about the $11 parking fee. Really, that is SO excessive! He asked the parking attendant if they take credit cards and she said "Sure, how else are we going to take all of your money?" This cheered him up, as he had found a "kindred spirit".
We had been following behind Teresa and Mom/Dad until this point. But, we lost them at the toll booth and weren't sure where they were parked. We went and parked the car. I hurried up and dressed the kids. Yes, I brought them to Disney in their undies:
I couldn't have them wrinkling the costumes I'd made them especially for this day!!
We looked up and down the aisle we were parked in and stood there for a few minutes looking for the rest of our family. We didn't see them anywhere, so we assumed they had already got on the tram and we'd meet up with them at the monorail platform. We hopped on the tram (okay, we didn't exactly hop with the diaper bag, my purse, and a double stroller) and were off. I told Tessa that the first one to see the castle "wins", so she was fervently looking for it. Sawyer was excited to be "somewhere" and could see how excited Tessa and I were.
We got to the monorail platform and searched for the family. They were nowhere to be seen. So, we got on the monorail, assuming they were already at MK and we'd meet them at the entrance. Got to the entrance and NO family! I remembered I'd told mom that we planned to ride Dumbo first. That plan wasn't in place anymore because we didn't get there at opening and I'm not going to wait in line for Dumbo. But, I thought we'd look for them there anyway.
But, wait, there's THE CASTLE!!!!!! Tessa won (how could I have missed it?)!! Henry actually told me to stop so he could get our picture. I have to tell you how rare this is. He never takes pictures, and certainly not of the CASTLE, at DISNEY! He is the Disney-HATER!
Can you find us?
The castle was closed, as it was almost every other time we were there for the whole trip. So, we went around to the right and visited the wishing well. Yep, Henry asked to take our picture again! Wow, I think he may actually be enjoying himself! Sawyer wasn't too happy with me plopping him on top of a well. Perhaps he has heard of Baby Jessica.
Next up, we saw...
The castle really close:
I just love this view of the castle!
The carousel was closed while we were there, so we went around to look for the family at Dumbo. They weren't there! I couldn't figure out where in the world they had gone. We were LOST! Okay, we weren't exactly lost. But, I know Teresa had wanted to see Sawyer's first reaction to Disney. So, I was pretty sad that we couldn't find them. But, we had appointments at the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique at 10:45, so I knew we'd see them there.
Sawyer was getting all sorts of attention in his Prince Charming costume.
I could see people nudging each other and pointing at him and saying how cute he was. I was beaming!! Everyone loves to hear how cute their kids are, but it's even better when they love the outfit you've made for them, too.
He was stealing Tessa's thunder, though! Only a few people said anything about her dress. Most of them thought she was Aurora.
We saw that Peter Pan was only a 5 minute wait, so we hopped in line. I was nervous because Sawyer has been a big wimp about riding on anything! It all started last October when I took him on an innocent looking hot air balloon looking ride. Here's Dad enjoying himself on it:
Then, it started spinning REALLY fast. Here's how much Sawyer loved it:
He was also afraid of the lawn mower, the carousel at the mall, Chuck E. Cheese, etc...etc...
To my absolute amazement- he LOVED Peter Pan! Tessa was squealing and pointing to all the cool stuff and Sawyer was pointing right along with her. It was Disney magic, I tell you!! We were positively exhuberant when we got off the ride and went skipping on to see what else we should do (if you really believe that Henry was skipping through Disney, you are delusional).
There was no line for my MOST favoritest ride in the park- It's a Small World! All right, it is SOOO not my favorite ride, but I'll ride anything if it doesn't have a wait (besides Stitch's Great Escape- dumbest attraction EVER!). Besides, I thought the kids would love it. Henry posed for a picture. Sawyer obviously wanted his full attention, though:
Then, we got on the ride. We waved to the guy up in the booth and the people eating in the "Poor Man's Garden Grill" (thanks for the nickname, Corey) and then passed into a world of wonder

. Sawyer was on edge the whole ride. I could see the fear in his eyes as he was waiting for the "other shoe to drop". No ride could be this happy!!! No ride could be this cheerful!!! What horrible fate was going to befall us all???
Three hours later

we got off the ride and Sawyer was relaxed again. I thought we should probably look for the family over by BBB. So, we went and got the stroller.
At the stroller parking, we met Daisy and Donald. Tessa was absolutely thrilled! I believe this is Donald:
This was the most excited she'd been about anything so far. Of course, Henry made the comment that it would have been a lot cheaper to just take her to the park down the road.
Did you see that her finger was RIGHT IN the duck's beak? It didn't bite her, though.
I spotted the Cinderella/Prince Charming topiary and HAD to snap some pictures!
I tried to get them to pretend they were dancing. Sawyer was willing to give it a try, but Tessa just wanted to stand there and look cute:
These are some of my favorite pictures of the whole trip. It was just a fun, special little moment. We were all happy and not TOO hot yet. We were having fun, we hadn't waited in any lines, and there were my kid's doubles- carved into shrubbery.
