Doreen's Fresh Start & Success Story! (Welcome Friends!)

hope you are enjoying your weekend!!

:sunny: Hello there, WISH-sis! How's your weekend going? Read any good books lately? :) Enjoy your day. I'm sending this little prayer your way as you get mentally ready for work tomorrow:

St. Theresa's Prayer:
"May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly
where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities
that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and
pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow your soul the freedom to
sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of you."

 and  ,
Erin

I took the weekend off. :p

Erin, thank you for the copy of St. Theresa's prayer. I'm going to write it down and keep it at my desk where I can re-read it often. It brings such a sense of peace when I meditate on it.

I've been reading "Potatoes, Not Prozac" and am enjoying this book a lot! Step One involves keeping a detailed food journal for a week, writing down not just the foods you eat and when you eat them, but also noting how you're feeling and what is triggering you to eat (hunger, emotional eating, etc.). I'm starting that food journal right now. I've got a small notebook that will stay with me everywhere I go.

I'm having a real pain in the neck this morning. It feels like a pinched nerve and is causing me quite a bit of discomfort and loss of strength in my right arm. Just picking up my 14 pound dog brought on a wave of pain. I think I'll be visiting the chiropractor this evening, hoping for some relief.

I'll follow my usual plan for the day. :sunny:

:grouphug: to all my WISH friends, who make my days brighter just by sharing them with me. :grouphug:

:sunny: Good Monday morning, Dear Doreen! :sunny: I'm sorry that you're hurting this morning :guilty: . I hope you've made that appointment with the chiropractor.

You know what I like about Kathleen Desmaisons two books that I've read? She encourages us to take it all very slowly. I like that. . .I guess because it appeals to that part of me that feels overwhelmed by the "trying and failing" cycle. To me, it all sounds very nurturing. Plus, I like her writing style and her sense of humor. If you get a chance, try "Your Last Diet." It was great--it didn't make me want to diet at all! :p She did talk a lot about "moderate protein" and getting enough in at every meal--it made me think of you and how you like to eat.

Good luck with your food journal; I'm finding mine to be helpful.

 for your day,
Erin

P.S. I'm glad you liked the prayer. :goodvibes

So were we right on the Algebra Question?

Morning Sweetie! I am getting so excited about your trip. It is truly lifting me up out of my funk! I need to get back to writing in my food journal - I think I need to switch out purses so that I can carry it with me. That might be a project for tonight!

~Amanda

Hi Doe!

I hope your arm and your neck feel better soon. :goodvibes Did you have a chance to make an appointment with the chiropractor?

Hope you are having a great Monday! :sunny:

I did get to the chiropractor and he was able to put my spine back in place. Unfortunately, my muscles are putting up a fight - I have quite a stiff neck this morning. I may leave work early because working on the computer is NOT comfortable. I'm sorry I won't be getting around to any other journals unless I'm feeling loads better later in the day.

Food journaling went well at work but it's hard to remember to do it at home. I'm sure in time it will become second nature.

Tomorrow AM the whole family heads out to the dentist for our regular cleanings so I won't be on the DIS until later in the afternoon.

:grouphug: to all!

, Doreen. I hope you feel better soon. Go home and rest if you can.

Love,
Erin

Good Morning Doe! Sorry to hear you are having neck pain - there is nothing worse! I think you should head home and get some rest - I'll need you nice and healthy for your St. Louis visit! :)

~Amanda

I'm headed home in half an hour. Warm moist heat seems to be helping the most so I'll spend the afternoon propped up in bed with lots of pillows and keeping warm moist heat on my neck and shoulder, with the puppy cuddled up beside me. Gee, sounds like a real hardship, huh? :teeth:

Leave it to me to make the best of a bad situation. :p

Hi Doe,

I hope your neck feels better. Maybe a long hot shower might help?
:wizard: for the dentist tomorrow.

Take cre of yourself,
Beth

Hey, how are you feeling this morning? I hope there's some :sunny: over your way today. Hopefully that dentist chair will be nice and comfy on your neck.

Have a good day and do something nice for yourself. . .maybe a nice cup of tea at 4:00?

,
Erin

Good Morning Doe! Great news we had a huge storm and a cold front move through here yesterday so the weather has cooled down about 10 degrees or so! :cool1:

~Amanda

Hi all!! :wave2:

The dental visits all went well this morning! No cavities for any of the 4 of us!! The kids and I ended up taking the rest of the day off. They've both got the cold that's going around. I needed to rehab my neck, which is starting to loosen up finally.

I've really fallen off the wagon with my food journal. It's still so new that it isn't a regular habit yet. That's ok though, because I can start again.

Glad to hear the weather has cooled, Amanda. It's time for me to check the forecast and pack my bags!!! I'll be there in less than 48 hours!! :Pinkbounc

Just a little warning...sometimes a bug will bring on swollen glands that make your neck stiffen up too. Vitamin C!

I have a question from my DH. You took a Crystal Reports class last year. Do you remember which organization it was through? I just knew it--he needs to use this product to pull student assessment data from their really mixed up system. (I helped him go through over 28,000 student records last week to make sure there were no duplicates--there were!) I'm sure he could get up to speed quickly with a little training and perhaps a book on this product. Help!

On the lighter side, I sure wish I had your son and daughter around to coach me on high school students. My do I remember my high school experience differently than I'm finding to be reality! And the issues these young adults have with their families! I'm trying not to be shocked--just supportive.

Have a great time this weekend!

-Laurie :sunny:

I'm back at work but I have a sweater on and another one wrapped around my neck to keep the muscles warm. I must look like quite a sight :rotfl: but it does help. The range of motion in my neck is better and the weakness in my arm is almost gone. I have another visit to the chiropractor this evening and then I'll have the hot tub in the hotel in St. Louis to use for rehab all weekend. :cloud9:

I'm glad for my workday routine. I realized this morning that I forgot yesterday's meds. Amanda, you'd better remind me while I'm in St. Louis. :rotfl2:

I've got tons to do at work so I'm off into the day. Tonight I'll pick up DD at tennis, go to the chiropractor and pack my suitcase. We leave the house tomorrow at 5 AM so I won't be checking in again until Tuesday morning. Maybe Amanda will keep everyone updated. ;)

:grouphug:

Hi Doe,

I hope you are tucked into bed seeing as you need to get up before dawn!

Have a fantastic and safe trip. Don't get into too much trouble. Hope you neck feels better.

Beth
