Doreen's Fresh Start & Success Story! (Welcome Friends!)

Yesterday was a good day. I took my higher dose of meds and felt no side effects. I met Erin for lunch and some shopping. DH spent time looking for his "dream car". Then DH, DD & I did some more shopping and went to Outback for dinner. It was a full day but fun. I felt more relaxed than I have for a long time. :cloud9:

I earned smilies yesterday for pills, exercise and the scale. Friday's smilies were for devotions, pills, water, exercise and the scale. That brings the month's total to 74 smilies and $2 reward money.

Today's plan - who knows. :p It will be a relaxing day spent with my family, with as little stress as possible. :teeth:

Hi Doe,

I'm glad that your dr appointment went well, and that a full physical is planned for the near future.

Looks like you had a good time with Erin and your family. It is so wonderful that you and Erin can get together occasionally.

Enjoy your relaxing day with the family.
Take care,
Beth

Yesterday was a good day, but not for my goals. :p The only smilie I earned was for taking my pills. Total for the month is 75 smilies and $2 reward money.

The anxiety about the upcoming workweek started in earnest yesterday afternoon and I didn't sleep well last night. I know in my head that my workload has been lightened, but I spent weeks and weeks (more like years) having this anxious reaction to work, and it will take time and many good days until it lessens. I just have to be patient and work through it. I know things at work are on the road to getting better. I'll put on some relaxing music and do some deep breathing and get through the workday step by step.

Today's plan:
1. Devotional - God does not want us to be a fearful and fumbling people. God can make a way when there is no way. No matter what our circumstances, we can remember Jesus' promise in Luke 18:27, "What is impossible for mortals is possible for God." Whatever we face, we can trust that God will not leave us to face it alone. (Upper Room online devotional) I am trusting in God's truth and not in my anxious feelings. Feelings can change but God is faithful and unchanging.
2. Pills - already taken. No side effects from the increased dose of meds but no significant improvement either. It can take time for this med to act though so I'm not too worried about it.
3. Water - on the first of 3 20oz bottles.
4. Healthy eating - UGH  Truth be told I want to forget about this one today. I've already had junky cereal and a pack of crackers. I owe it to myself to have at least one healthy meal today so I'll work on a good lunch.
5. Exercise - yeah, I should. :p
6. Scale - 155 and steady, in spite of all the carbs I ate this weekend.

My main focus today will be on calming my feelings of anxiety and getting some basic tasks finished at work. That will be enough. If I meet the above goals, fine, but if I don't, I'm not going to worry about it.

Onward I go into the day, not running, but peacefully and serenely strolling (or at least trying to be peaceful and serene). :sunny:

Good morning, WISH-sis. :sunny: It's a brand new day and a new situation at work. Too bad your nervous system hasn't caught up with that fact yet, but it will, and you know it will get better. Just as it takes time to get run down and worn to the wire, it takes time to restore and renew. Feed yourself--with sunshine, with quiet walks, with your relaxation music, with scripture and prayer, with extra rest--and the healing will take place. . .and the peace will come. You know you can't chase it down; instead it'll rest lightly on your shoulder while you're not even paying attention. Have faith and keep walking, Doreen.

 ,
Erin

You know what helps lessen anxiety and calm your thoughts - exercise. Go for a quick 30 minute walk when you get home tonight. It gets those endorphins pumping plus is good for you! I know I need to get on some kind of training schedule for September!

~Amanda

Good morning Doe,

Mondays are tough aren't they? I usually don't get into my week until Tuesday. I think weekends should be 3 days long at the very least. ;)

Remember, to take each moment step by step today. Is your WDW marathon medal on your desk? :goodvibes

Have a wonderful day and know that I am praying for you.

:flower: Good morning, dear Doreen, good morning to you. . . :flower: Can you hear my singing the "Morning Song"? :teeth: Just wanted to start your day off on the right note. :p Don't 'cha love musical humor???

I hope that the :sunny: of this day will shine all the way into your cube. Feel it all around you like a big warm  . Then promise yourself to do at least one healthy thing for YOU today. My #1 pick of the day? Drinking the water! Get those mugs started, girl! :)

Know you're in my heart as you go through your day.

Love,
Erin

Erin, thanks for your timely reminder about drinking my water. When I first get to the office, one of the first things I do is get my water and start drinking. Today, for some reason, I forgot it. After reading your post, I jumped right up and headed to the NOT-SO-EVM for a bottle of water. :p I raise my bottle to you and toast to a day filled with :sunny: and refreshing cool water to drink! Cheers! :drinking:

Yesterday's smilies were for devotions, pills, water and scale, bringing me to 79 smilies and $2 reward money. I'm only 11 smilies away from hitting my first milestone of 90 smilies!

Today:
1. Devotions - Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. -Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)
2. Pills - just took them.
3. Water - just started on my first of 3 20oz bottles.
4. Healthy eating - B was a banana (16g), L = yogurt w/ almonds (31g), PM snack will be peanuts, D will be a lc Subway wrap (around 10-15g - have to look it up). I should be able to stay under 100g today.
5. Exercise - I WILL walk today.
6. Scale - can you believe I forgot to get on this morning????

Tonight I'll head to the doctor's for some antibiotics - I have an infected cut on my finger that refuses to get better on its own. I'll also take a walk with DH and start working on a packing list for our trip to the shore next week.

I'm feeling a bit more positive today. Life doesn't seem quite so unmanageable at the moment. Does this mean my anxiety and depression are lifting???? I sincerely hope so, because I truly am a positive, upbeat and optimistic person by nature. I've been missing that part of me. Maybe the new dose of medicine is kicking in, maybe work is getting better - whatever it is I want to continue on this upward trend. ::yes::

I think today will be a good day! :sunny:

Good morning Doe!!

I love Bon Jovi! :)

I hope you have a great day today. Know that I am sending you :goodvibes and :wizard: to lighten your load!

~Amanda

Thanks for the party!! :goodvibes :cool1: :goodvibes

The day is going well but slow.

3. On my 2nd 20oz bottle of H2O.
4. B was my banana (16g), AM snack was yogurt w/ almonds (31g), L was a burger, no bun, w/ mayo (2g?). That brings me to 49g for the day and I will not be hungry for quite a while! All I have to do is eat an lc Subway wrap for dinner and I'll be all set! Could I possibly earn this smilie today??!!! :cheer2:

Hey there Doe!!

I haven't checked in on you in ages it seems. I just wanted to pop in and say hello!

:sunny: Good morning, all! :sunny:

Yesterday I earned smilies for devotions, pills and water. I was doing great on food until I had some Wendy's Frosty. I just checked and it was about 50g carbs! Lesson learned.

Today I'm feeling upbeat and sunny for a change - a NICE change!! I teach today and tomorrow, which makes me a bit anxious but also feels good to help others learn. I go home tired but very satisfied.

1. Devotions - God gives to us in good measure -- and more. God's forgiveness and mercy are given to us abundantly, and God expects us to treat others with goodness and generosity. Since I accepted the fact that God forgives me, I have found it easier to refrain from anger, defensiveness, and resentment when someone treats me badly. I cannot hope to match God's compassion, which is immeasurable, but God has extended toward me unlimited, "running over" mercy -- more than I deserve or expect. Knowing this keeps me from being judgmental or critical and allows me to forgive others, offering them encouragement and nurture instead. (Upper Room online devotional)
2. Pills - took them all including the antibiotic for my infected finger. I still have 3 more doses of Keflex to take today so no smilie until I take them all.
3. Water - on the first of 4 16oz Coronado Springs mugs
4. Healthy eating - B = yogurt w/ almonds, L will be a burger / no bun, D will be an lc Subway wrap (never made it there last night).
5. Exercise - Didn't get to it yesterday. I truly hope that DH and I can get a walk in this evening.
6. Scale - down 2 pounds to 153 :)

The pressure seems to have lifted a bit and I'm feeling better! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: I bet it was because of that party in my journal yesterday - thanks Amanda!! :cloud9:

Good Morning princess: Doe you sound nice and :sunny: this morning. Your menu also looks very yummy! Don't sweat the Frosty yesterday - it is hard to turn down that yummy treat!

Great job on the 2 lb loss - hold on to that for inspiration when those high carb foods start to look appealing. Ya kow what sounds good? Tuna Salad! Didn't you use to make a whole bunch at once and eat it at lunch? Also Chicken Waldorf salad sounds yummy too!

~Amanda

Oh yeah, I'm voting for the Chicken Waldorf Salad! That sounds so good on a warm and :sunny: day like today. Make up a batch of that, would you, Doreen? I'll be right over! :teeth:

It sounds like you've outlined a great day. Enjoy that 2 lb. loss! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Sending :goodvibes your way--
Erin

Congrats Doreen o the 2 pound loss. You are doing really well. I agree the WAldorf sounds yummy. I am glad you are feeling sunny again.

Enjoy your day,
Beth

:sunny: Just stopping by to wish you well this Thursday morning. So I never did hear the final story--is that DH of yours in a "new ride"? :moped:

Take care, WISH-sis--
Erin
