Doreen's Fresh Start & Success Story! (Welcome Friends!)

I can feel the weekend coming - hooray!! :sunny:

Yesterday's smilies were for devotions, pills, water and the scale. Total for the month is 83 smilies and $2 reward money. I fell apart on food but that was yesterday and today is brand new.

Today:
1. Devotions - Confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. -James 5:16 (NRSV) I love this verse and it reminds me that God hears not just our own prayers for ourselves but the prayers of others that pray for us. What a blessing to know that other people take time to pray for me and how happy I am to lift others up to God in prayer.
2. Pills - the morning pills have all been taken. My antibiotics will be taken with lunch, when I get home from work and later in the evening. So far I haven't missed a dose!
3. Water - I've started my first of 3 20oz bottles.
4. Healthy eating - B was 1/2 an lc Subway wrap (8g), L will be yogurt w/ walnuts (31g), D??? - will worry about that later.
5. Exercise - I'm going to be honest and admit that teaching yesterday and today will leave me drained of energy and a meeting this evening will take up my time. Exercise is not going to happen today. I'll make up for it at the beach next week with lots of long walks.
6. Scale - 153 and holding steady! :)

I'm tired but I'm not as anxious. My mood seems to be lightening - I'm guessing its a combination of a lighter load at work and the higher dose of my meds. I'm starting to see glimpses of the pre-depression me. I'm hoping time at the beach to recharge my batteries will continue to help me feel better. We'll get to Avalon NJ this Sunday and will come home next Friday. We're staying in a house with my parents and my brother & his family, so realistically there may be some added family stress. No computer access though, so you'll all just have to carry on without me for a few days. :p

Onward into my busy day! :sunny:

You certainly sound like the old Doe that I know! :) You have been doing so great lately with your goals. And the scale is rewarding you! Keep up the hard work sweetie! September is going to be here before we know it!

Hi, Doreen! Some time at the beach will be just what you need to re-charge. Don't let the family stress get to you. You are doing so great and it sounds like now that you've taken control of the work load and have gotten some relief from your meds, you are newly energized. I am so happy to hear that.

I grew up in south jersey, but never made it to avalon. I don't remember where you live, but being in SE PA you are probably pretty close to where I am in Wilmington, DE. Isn't it a gorgeous day? I hope you get to enjoy it.

Have a great day!

It's Friday! :cheer2:
I love Friday's, actually I like Saturday's better but don't tell Friday because it will hurt his feelings ;)

Where are you princess: Doe? My morning doesn't seem as bright without you.

~Amanda

:wave2: Here I am!! :wave2:

Yesterday's smilies were for devotions, all my pills, water and the scale. I just missed the food smilie - wasn't too far off, but I'm not sure the nachos I had for snack last night were really a healthy choice. :p That means I have 87 smilies and $2 reward money so far.

I had a good day at work teaching my class. I went to my depression support group last evening and it was time well spent. We talked about so many interesting thoughts and ideas. One of the key things I learned is that many chronic illnesses, including depression, flare up around the change of seasons. I know the adjustment to the different rhythm of summer life always takes me longer than others. Any disruption to my norm, such as daylight savings time starting or ending, can throw me out of sorts for a bit. I'll try to remember this and be mindful that I may need to have extra rest and expect a little extra anxiety and stress around these times. These are not good times for me to take on extra responsibilities or tasks. It seems I am continually learning new things about me and it's exciting! ::yes::

Today I'm back into the regular office routine and am feeling just a bit stressed and anxious. I liked it when my day of teaching class was laid out for me. Now I have to figure out what tasks need to be done and their priorities, etc. Also I have some of my usual pre-trip anxiety. I haven't even started packing. :teeth: I will get through this, though - it isn't unmanageable.

I just keep picturing long walks on the beach with DH and that calms me immensely. We're both looking forward to lots of walking. I'm hoping to come home thinner (and with a tan!).

I have this evening and all day tomorrow to do laundry and pack. We'll leave early on Sunday for the beach. No worries. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

EDIT: 1 PM
I forgot to list the plan for the day!
1. Devotions - Encourage one another and build up each other. -1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NRSV)
2. Pills - all taken on schedule so far. I still have a pill when I get home and one later this evening.
3. Water - on my 4th of 5 12oz mugs.
4. Healthy eating - AM was not good for me but I'm trying to turn my day around. L = Subway lc wrap
5. Exercise - just walked 15-20 minutes during lunch hour.
6. Scale - 154, not bad.

Doe:

Enjoy your family beach time. It sounds like a lovely week. Even with a little family stress--a long walk on the sand sounds so heavenly.

Sunshine is good for the soul. I hope you and your family have a wonderful break.

hi doreen--
just wanted to come and say hi-=-thank you for posting on the community board about my mom--it means alot..i have missed you and hope to be coming back to the wish journals soon!

Good morning Doe!

I wanted to stop by and WISH you a wonderful vacation filled with rest, relaxation, :cloud9: , :sunny: , :rotfl: , and  . I hope you have a wonderful week at the beach! :Pinkbounc

:sunny: Good morning, Doreen! :sunny: Are you home getting ready for vacation? I think you're going to have a really good time. Really, I do. :) When I was at the shore yesterday, I was reminded of the healing powers of the ocean and the sunshine and how they can make even blended family vacations tolerable! :p Just make sure you prioritize that walking time with Todd (or by yourself).

Last year, when we went with my in-laws, I got up early every day (before anyone else). I'd go get my coffee and then spend an hour or so sitting and walking on the beach right after sunrise. It was so beautiful and the time alone was so important for me; I know it helped center me for the day ahead.

I'll miss you while you're gone. Have a great time and make some special memories.

Love,
Erin

P.S. Thanks for sharing what you learned at your meeting. ::yes::

I was busy yesterday getting ready for our vacation. We are headed out this morning. Thank you all for the well wishes. :grouphug: I'll miss all my WISH friends while I'm away but you'll all be with me in spirit.

I love your idea about getting up early, Erin, and spending some time strolling on the beach!

I'll be back on Friday! :wave2:

Hi Doe! :wave2:

I hope your return home from your vacation finds you rested, relaxed, and feeling wonderful! :cloud9:

Have a safe, happy, healthy, and wonderful 4th of July weekend! :flower:

:sunny: Good morning, World!! :sunny:

I'm back from the beach and feeling good. The trip turned out very nice! All of the extended family got along. We enjoyed good food, good fun, lots of walks, plenty of relax time - truly a nice vacation. :cloud9:

I haven't weighed yet this morning but I FEEL thinner. I ate on plan most of the time and just wasn't hungry for too much junkie food. However, last night, when we came home to a house devoid of food and the boys (DH & DS) went to the store, I foolishly asked for ice cream. A pint of Ben & Jerry's later..... :( I felt physically sick which is a good thing because I'll remember that the next time I look at Ben & Jerry. ::yes::

Today I'm ready for some healthy living structure.
1. Devotions - Because God holds our hand, we can walk through life with confidence and peace. (Upper Room online devotional)
2. Pills - not yet but I'll take them soon.
3. Water - not yet but I'll start soon on at least 60oz.
4. Healthy eating - not much in the house yet but a trip to the store is imminent. Breakfast will be off plan but the rest of the day will be back to lc basics.
5. Exercise - I've grown accustomed to lots of walking and it feels good!! I'll be walking today - at least a mile.
6. Scale - haven't gotten on yet.

It will be a busy day, getting unpacked and doing LOTS of laundry, but I'm feeling good and am up to the challenge. :p I'll be making journal rounds throughout today and tomorrow to see what all my WISH friends have been up to! :wave2:

Good morning Doe and Welcome Back!! :Pinkbounc

I'm glad to hear that your vacation went well. :goodvibes That is great news!! :cool1:

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! :flower:

Good morning, WISH-sis! I'm happy to know you're back and so glad you had a good time. Now you have a long weekend to enjoy! :) I must say: you planned it well!

You sound focused and ready to take on the healthy living challenge. Go for it! :Pinkbounc

Erin

Just stopping by to say :wave2: "hi" and wish you a happy 4th. What's your plan for today? Any exercise? It should be nice out and comfortable all day--try to do something nice for yourself!

Talk to you tomorrow--
Erin

Good Morning princess: Doe! I'm glad to hear you had a nice family vacation. And yea for you eating on program! That is awesome! Keep up the great work and you'll be out of the 150's in no time!

~Amanda

Good morning, WISH-sis. Are you at work today? If so, hang in there--only a few more days 'til Friday! :p

How'd the healthy living go over the weekend? Did you stay on track and treat yourself right? If not, try to pick one specific thing to work on to get yourself back on the path and just keep walking toward it.

Everyone OK at your house? I must say, I love the more relaxed pace of summer. Too bad it doesn't last all year long!

Love ya,
Erin
