Dopey 2015 Official Thread

I am signed up to do the Dopey challenge in 2015. I have been doing triathlons for the last 10 years. I need to do a 1/2 marathon this Sept. for a proof of time. Calling all last years runners. I'm trying to get an idea of what time I may need to get into certain corrals. I know this year corrals set ups won't be the same as last year, but I would like to know what time I'm looking at. Or all of the dopey challenger place in one corral ?
Thank you for any help..

Here's last year's chart. It's not a perfect science. I was in H (the time on this chart approximates a 4:20 finish. My PR is 5:10 and I ran a 5:42 that day.)

Five day celebration. You forgot DATW on Monday. :)

Remind me, please! I am walking off my lunch, using a tiny phone screen, can't review past posts easily, know I read about doing more miles on Monday, but can't grasp the acronym!!

Thank you so much... that chart is great.. now I just need to start my training for this... I have one more triathlon this summer then I will move to running only. This Dopey challenge looks like a fun run but I have seen it's been hot the last 2 years. I don't do well in the heat..

I'm in Louisiana and summer is solely for maintenance here. Light runs, easy speed work, etc. Max mileage is 6-8 here. I do 5Ks here and there.

My last race was a half in Little Rock in March. Doing a half in September, then a full in late November before my taper all through December.

This is my first Dopey but 3rd Disney World Marathon. Rooms are booked; park passes purchased; waiting on flights...

Getting excited!!!

I'm getting excited, too!

What was the Little Rock race like?

It was cold and wet! But actually a good race for me. PR'd!!!

There were a few hills. But overall pretty easy and the support along the course was great.

Congrats on your PR!!! That's super!! :) And thanks for the info on the run!

I'm in!

Did the Dopey last year, but arrived after the 5k due to weather delays.... was lucky to get there that day: others from here arrived after the 10k.
I absolutely loved doing the Dopey!
It was my first Marathon, but I followed the runDisney Dopey Challenge training plan AND slowed down my pace.
I had no problems at all, either before, during or after.
A lot of the credit goes to my bottled water, my yoga mat, my Epsom Salt baths, my wroller stick, my calf compression sleeves, the ice machine at BLT, and the hot tub.

It was so amazing, I loved every minute of it, even when my arm was chafing so badly that I had to hold it out like a broken wing as I ran!

So folks from home signed up for 2015 Dopey soon as they could.
I thought about it, but decided, nope, I did my Dopey.
But dang, I thought about it, and thought about it.....and a couple weeks ago, decided to go for it! If I could manage to get a Dopey registration at this stage, it would be because it was meant to be!
And, Yahoo!!!! I'm here. And my gut tells me it was the right thing to do!

Might be training & doing it alone, not sure if the others from home will be in my pace group or not (I think they are faster), but that's just one more thing on my bucket list anyway : "Be able to go the distance alone"

Woo hoo!!! I'm iin!

Yahoo, I need a new ticker!

How did you get a registration this late?

I was lucky enough to get in with a tour operator (don't know if it's because they had a cancellation or why)

But take a look at the registration pages: there are travel providers and charity groups that have/had spots. The charity groups, of course, require that you do some fund raising, some more so than others, but if it's a charity you want to support, then you double win!
(I went looking to see if Give Kids The World was one, but they are not)

GKTW had a marathon team last year. Not sure what happened to it.

Just booked our ADRs this morning. 16 of them!!! We'll be there for 10 nights, so that's 5 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 9 dinners.:goodvibes

Cool!! That sounds like a lot of good, fun eating! I want to make a few ADR's for my trip, but I can't yet decide on locations... so many choices!!

Solo trip this time around, so only booking a few ADRs. Kona breakfast, Via Napoli, and Raglan Road for my post-Dopey celebratory meal! I guess I will finally get to try all the CS locations I've missed out on in the past!

I booked my ADRs on Friday. Had to fight with the system a little bit, but I ended up getting what I wanted. :)

Less than 6 months to go!!

OK, I give up...what's an ADR? Is that a meal plan thing for DVC members?

Thanks.

No. If you want to eat on Disney property, in many cases you need to book your advance dining reservation 180 days out. Last week.
