Doorway to Dreams member receptions, Feb 10-12.

I can't imagine DVC giving incentives on small contracts. It would be nice, though. I just did a 25 point AKV add on. It did hurt a bit to pay the $104 per pt but the process was easy. It would have been even easier with a little incentive.

We're really excited about the new restaurant. It's filling an obvious gap in the ethnic fare that is available on property. Here is a list of the items that they served:
-Potato Samosa (the deep-fried pyramid pastry)
-Chicken Satay with a lime-based sauce and only a hint of peanut (chicken on a stick)
-Kefta (meatloaf on a stick -- this was a lamb dish, well spiced and prepared)
-Cucumber yogurt salad
-Crisped bread
-Two chutneys - mango and a red one that I can't remember the name of
For the type of event it was, we were really pleased with how well the food was prepared.

The imagineering talk spent quite a bit of time on the new restaurant as well. It will have savanah views and should make you feel like you're in an open-air African market.

Although it was one giant sales pitch, which was completely expected, the event was well done.

After reading the above, I would like to warn anyone who wants to add on at OKW that after February 29th the price of an OKW2057 contact might go up $8/pt to match the price of this AKV contract. It is $96 /pt now.

Here's the picture of the food

my daughter (5) was very bored. She didn't like the food either. I gave her the pen and the information they gave us and she colored in it.

She knew Mickey and Minnie were there so that was the only thing I could use to keep her calm.

My son (11) liked the food but didn't like sitting for so long.

The ears were nice. I liked them better then the ones from the grand opening and the ice scraper will come in handy. I loved the H2O samples. I always stop there when I go to the mall.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: That doesn't bode well for my crew. How long will we be sitting there? Do we see Mickey AFTERwards?

We had fun - I was with a group that had a 2, 4 and 5 year old. Now, keep in mind these kids are "trained" WDW experts (fine training by their parents, me included ;) )They gave the kids coloring books and crayons and were really attentive to the kids on the same level of service as the CMs at WDW. My daughter had a minnie ears hat on and got lots of comments. The 4 and 5 year old girls paid attention, but we were sitting right up front. Even today my 5 year old was telling me about the "new food at Sanaa" and the "indian spices".

All the kids liked the food as there was a variety to choose from.

We saw Mickey and all his friends afterwards for a picture. The kids were really excited about that.

Afterwards we took the tour of the model and the kids blew off some steam in the "kids room" at the store.

The presentation was only about an hour long and they broke it up with giveaways inbetween.

OH and before we went we had a fun meal at the Rainforest cafe. SO it made for a funfilled afternoon.

For those of you who attended the presentations please help
My DW and I are not members (yet?) but did receive the email about signing
up for a presentation and the event this past Saturday. Two emails actually.
I rsvp'd for our family of 4, DW, DD (almost 4) DS (alomst 2) and I.
I have read that my kids should be able to handle it but overall is it for exisitng members or potential members too??????
We are really interested but want to make sure we should go....
I think the fact that there is food and the potential of M & M will keep the kids at bay but in case of a meltdown could my wife go for a walk or something????
Just asking for advice really. My DS and I went Saturday for the characters and he loved it so there's hope.
Please help...should we go for it or cancel???
Thanks
Marc
:confused3

We were there last night, as potential members. We left as (almost) members; just need to finish signing the paperwork.
DS 9 was with us, and he did great. IMO, really little ones might get bored, but you can walk out to the lobby area to let them run off a little steam.
The characters come out at the very end of the presentation (60 minutes or so).
We had a great time and are really glad we attended.

Anyone going tonight???

We just got back last night...DCL and AKV...wow..loved AKV!!!! Not sure I could talk Dh into another 110 pts since we jsut bought:( lol

me and my husband are going tonight.. we are going to be leaving soon cause of the snow!!! We are going to add on 110 pts !!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Is that official? I was considering an add on there, but not if it's costing the same as the shiny new AKV.

Were they offering any incentives for new members????
Talked to my wife and we are most likely going tonight.
Still would like a little more info on those who attended.
Thanks

DBf and I are going tonight. :) I know for sure we won't be buying tonight but we are renting points for a trip in October. And in the next couple of years we will definitely be buying in. I think this will be an interesting evening. :) :)

We attended the presentation last night and had a good time. The kids behaved pretty well for the most part and the food was good too. Just a tad spicy but interesting.
Seems like the incentives may push us towards purchasing.....Were there any other takers????
Anyone?

Well, we went to the 4pm presentation. DBf loved the food...but I agree with you, a bit too spicy for me. :P The whole thing was interesting and we took a look at the Villa upstairs. We were surprised at how large the studio was!

We definitely will be buying in the future but I am just not into the financing. If I'm going to buy in, I don't want to have to finance. We are renting points for our trip this October to try out the whole DVC experience~which I'm sure we'll love. :) Then I think we will be buying a smaller amount of points through resale. I understand why they want you to buy in with at least 160 points...but I would love if it could be less. :P If I could afford it, I would have definitely bought last night!! :) lol!

Well we are meeting with a rep on Saturday that we met last night for a final presentation. It sounds and looks like a good deal and the Villa's were really nice. With all the material we receive I'm going to scour the books/boards/etc... to make sure we know what we may be getting into.
The CM's were so nice!!!
