Doorway to Dreams member receptions, Feb 10-12.

from what I understand the incentives are the same with a couple of exceptions...

the same $8 off AKV $10 SSR
developers points

if you buy 110 get 100 DP
160 160
200 270

deal includes APs or gift card...not sure how many or how much....
<edited>...it is 2 APs or 1 $500 gift card....these incentives do not change the more points you buy.

I won't be there since we are heading to WDW tomorrow...but I will be interested in hearing if this info is on target.

This is what I was told as well, good through February 29th.

with all the talk a few posts ago..I was somewhat expecting a little better

Thanks for the info. Glad we didn't get too worked up about coming down. While still nice, those are resistable incentives.

We're going for good old friendship of fellow DVC-ers. Also, this is as close as we will get to Disney for the next 4 months. Any freebie would be a bonus too. Considering we have never been pressured into purchasing anything, if their main reason is to sell me something, that's OK. I'll enjoy listening.

I am going Monday if weather is ok. I was hoping for a return to the 15% off incentinve from a few years ago, but I guess this is comparable at the 110 point level for SSR ($10 off + $500 gift card + dev points) total cost $89.45 per point versus (15% off) $88.40.

Yup, KristineN who said it was 2 APs or a $500 Disney gift card was exactly right! There was the usual developer points and 8 or 10 dollars off per point purchase also.

I thought the event was a lot of fun!! I hope everyone else who went enjoyed it too :D

I really enjoyed listening to the Imagineer talk about Kidani and show the models and drawings and talk about why they are building it the way they are. Very interesting stuffs! :thumbsup2

Also, getting to hear about Sanaa from the creative food guy was very cool!! Then when he was like, oh I wish you could all have some ... ! Yum :D Okay it turns out I don't really like Indian food that much but it was still really cool and very well done I thought :D

Now I can't wait for the member event when they announce CRV :rotfl:

just curious...could you tell if lots of people were adding on? I would have liked to attend...but we just arrived at the Boardwalk! :)

Just back from the member's reception. It was similar to the grand opening celebration just without the trivia game giveaways of DVC merchandise and the organized tours of the DTD store. The giveaways were way fewer, but way better (25-75 one time points, a nice piece of artwork from AKV, Toy Story toys). We just came back from AKV and enjoyed the Imagineer talk and the chef describing the new restaurant. It was a nice surprise to have cast members come parading out with samples for each table of foods from the new AKV restaurant proposed menu, and exciting when the characters came out for professionally taken family pictures to be downloaded from the web. That is a really nice touch. Our gift bags had additional Dream Book copies, some H2O samples, and an ice scraper (someone had a sense of humor). And we all got cute new DTD Mickey ears hats (different from the ones at the grand opening.

I did voice my wish to one of the DTD cast that add ons be offered at lower point numbers with a proportionate (small) incentive. I think 110 was the lowest add on for this event. That's A LOT. The second tier add on was 160 points--the same as a new member buy-in price. Maybe small add ons just mess them up when trying to sell out properties. Still...it would be nice just once!

A very nice event, nonetheless. I hope these member events continue. They are really appreciated...especially on a zero degree day.

Just got back! The best thing was a sampler plate of food from the new AKV restuarant that will be in the Kidani Village. Dieter Hannig (VP of Food and Beverage New concepts) explained the African/Indian menu. It was yummy!

Incentives (iirc):
110 add on
$8 off at AKV, $10 at SSR
100 incentive points
$500 gift card or 2 AP's

160 - don't recall how many points.

200 add on
$8 off at AKV, $10 at SSR
270 incentive points
$500 gift card or 2 AP's

does anyone know what the incentives are for new members?? I have a friend who would like to join and I want to pass on the info:cheer2:

THey are the same - but starting at the 160 level.

We had a nice time. Yes, the food was the highlight. I just wished they explained exactly what we were eating. Also, I would have liked to know there was going to be THAT much food. I ate before we came at the rainforest cafe and was already full. My DH took a picture of the food. I'll post it if the pic turns out.

I agree, an incentive at the 25 or 50 point level would be great. Even something small like dinner vouchers at a TS. I believe if they offered an incentie for that they could have sold 8 -- 25 point add ons (200 points sold total) for every ONE 200 point add on.

I'd have to agree with the PP about the smaller add-ons. We would jump at a 25-50 add-on much more quickly than doing a 100 - 200 add-on.

The food was great too. Such a surprise since we were expecting to have some sort of snackage during the pitch but that was a special Disney touch to the presentation. We would've liked to know what the 'meatloaf on a stick' consisted of. It was tasty.

DH says he bets dollars to doughnuts that they will do another member event in July and the incentives will be better with the economy going in the toilet like it is.

Oh....has anyone been able to pull up their photos from the 1pm session?

Can anyone give some more detail on this?

I also complained about the lack of incentives for smaller add ons. We only want to add 60 points, but there was no reason to do it right now.

Agree. We'd do a smaller add on at AKV but not 110 pts. If we could add a small amt. of pts. at AKV, we'd buy there and CRV if it is announced......definitely won't do a big add on at AKV at this stage of the game though.
