ohhhh see now i have a problem.

do i buy the bag now and have it for our trip or do i wait until july when we get there and pick my own placement??

decisions decisions

Just my personal opinion but I'd wait and pick your own placement. I have seen some really odd looking placements when looking through them at the parks. I'd say it's worth waiting until July so that you can find your "perfect" one. July will be here before you know it:goodvibes

Of course now they sell them online, but they don't have the one I want LOL.

Hi
there goes a stupid question I am sure but I also know you can order by phone so here goes my question can you ask for special placements ex : castle ...???
where can I find phone # ??
thanks

The phone number for Disney merchandise is 407-363-6200. I haven't ordered one through mail order, but since no one else has answered, I'll say that I doubt you can request special placement, but I could be wrong.

True...I still feel that my white sketch is special though, since I have the first edition med tote and wristlet, and now they're only selling the second edition online. :goodvibes

My thoughts exactly, except that I got a tassel and my daughter got me a clutch for Mothers day!:goodvibes OT: My daughter and I went to the Coach outlet today, as she wanted to get her cousin a Coach bag for graduation. She got an original, not an outlet for 50% off retail price!:goodvibes We both had our Disney Dooneys and people were going ga-ga over them! It was a lot of fun!

:confused3
ok I'm lost here wht is the difference between 1st and 2 nd edition and why would one prefer let's say 1st over 2nd:confused3
I'm looking for the big tote ( larger bag white ) any pictures of 1st and 2ns edition so I can see the differences ??
thanks

There are differences between 1st and 2nd besides Minnie. 1st edition has banners that read: Disneyland, Walt Disney World, as well as Dooney and Bourke. There is no leather piece on the front of the bag that says "Dooney and Bourke".

2nd edition has a banner that reads Walt Disney World on the top and Disneyland on the bottom. It has Minnies as well as the leather Dooney patch.

I wanted the 1st edition due to the separate banners. I also felt the Dooney patch could distract from the design. I  my Dooney!!

So now that the sketch 2 is being sold online, would you say the 1st edition was a smaller production to test the market? Or is 2 just too similar to 1 so there are a lot left?

Sketch 1 actually was discontinued because of the D&B banner. Disney doesn't license any logos with it's characters, so the D&B banner as part of the pattern had to be changed. That's why they have the separate tag now. At least that's what my sister was told.

you would have thought that the person who approved the design at Disney wouldn't have noticed and had it changed before it went into production

strange that they let it go and sell hundreds before they realized the banner shouldn't be there

That is correct and that is what I have been told by many people. So that actually makes the version 1 bags even more rare. :goodvibes

I had the same feeling too.

Part of me wonders whether they're doing this to try to unload the older styles to make way for new ones...
they seem to only stock the vinylmation that aren't flying off the shelves, maybe it's their way of moving the merchandise quicker.

I understand what you mean. At first, I was upset that they weren't sold online...then I thought about it & realized that by NOT being sold online, there were advantages!

I heard that maybe new designs were coming out in May or June. And now that they're selling them online, I'm wondering if I can still get a sketch tote in December??? Do you think they will sell out of them or keep making more to keep up with demand? I've been so tempted to buy one online, but can't see paying the extra money on ebay & want to choose my own placement. Also, my husband is buying me one as a birthday/Christmas present in December so I don't want to ruin "his surprise" for me. lol

Too many choices...

I completely agree...although I have been tempted to buy one online many times, I'd much rather purchase it at the parks & choose my own placement. Definitely worth waiting!!!

Well, if you aren't particular on placement and order from the Disney Store on line, shipping is currently $5.00 on orders of $89 or more, so that is WAY cheaper than through merchandising !

I would keep an eye on this board. We should hear from someone if they are indeed retiring the sketch and black wonder. Also check ebay when the new patterns are released. Last time there were some sweet deals on the older patterns because people were going crazy for the new ones. Ebay can be a good deal, if the shipping is right. Ordering on-line they still add tax and you have no control over placement. Hope this helps, we're going in December too and I'm hoping that they'll have something new by then :).

Just saw on ebay that a cindy cruise tote sold for $360!! That's $35 more than the first one sold for!

i would think because the cruise ones will be even harder to get because you actually have to be on a cruise instead of just driving by dtd and stopping in. you don't have to stay at wdw to get one

i'm hoping that they will stay popular enough to keep them until 2012 :) wishfull thinking i know but one can hope

I think this is a bad sign. I think they ordered way to many and now cannot sell them so this is why we see them online. Granted the DIS has two threads dedicated soley to this purse for months now but this is repeat message board users chatting. It will be interesting to see if down the road they will go on sale for a deep discount. Then we shall see how PO'ED some may get. I see there are already those not "feeling" special anymore.
The average shopper online is not concerned with placement. and If they were a true placement type person they would already be in the know so I dont think Disney not disclosing the placement will be an issue... that is until someone not in the know finds this good ole thread lol

I'll be ticked if they discount them to clear them out. But I had someone comment on my bag today and was thrilled when I told her she could get them online.

I'm torn between wanting them to be exclusive and wanting them to not be so hard to come by. We only get down once a year. I would hate for this constant frenzy every time they release a new design thinking there are only going to be so many available

As with most things Disney it's a fine line. I think what Disney has done lately though is saturate the market with what they see as popular items. I hope that they can find a balance between making items available and making them so commonplace they need to heavily discount to move the merchandise.

I'm still hooked and look forward to a new design.

I searched high and low in Disneyland this past February... I tried to wait until my trip in October so I could choose my placement but now that they are online I couldn't resist the urge another second!!!!!!!!

I don't need perfect placement but DO hope for decent placement. Will report back when it arrives!!!

maybe it's because Canada has about 15% of the population of the states but 1 i never see anyone with the same Disey stuff as I have and 2 don't think i'd care since it wouldn't be very often so even if they weren't

i think running into someone else who has the same one as me or at least the same patter on a different style i'd be thrilled. it would give us something to talk about since it's out there that we're both disney fans.

i fell as long as it's special to me that's all that counts - it can be special to others too
