Some of you who know me know that I have a black lab, Harley, my precious baby, who has been very ill. Well, today I came home from work and found that he had passed away. He was such a good boy and tried to make it outside through his dog door but he didn't make it. I found him with his front legs outside the door and his body inside my porch. I had made an appt. with his vet for tomorrow to have him put down, although I could barely stand the thought, but tonight he decided he had had enough and left me to find a better place. I'm dying inside myself, and I can barely type though the tears but I wanted to post to you all this message because many of you have been so kind to me and have kept me and my precious dog in your thoughts and prayers. I thank you for that from the bottom of my heart! I decided to bury him next to my bedroom window because he always would sleep with me in my room next to my bed which is the very side that window is on. That way he can still be sleeping by my side. Thank you once again to everyone who has been a friend to me during this sad, sad time. I will never ever forget it!!

I am so so sorry about your beloved friend. I did not know about his illness and it really tears at my heart to know you lost such a dear and loving friend.

My thoughts are with you tonight in your most trying time. Peace be with Harley and maybe he has found a friend with my beloved Golden, Mckenna, in the next life.

What very sad news! I'm sorry to hear of your loss.
I hope he is running and playing with our Cheasapeake Retrievers that we lost last year, one we found in her dog house passed, and one we had to have put to sleep due to hip pain. It is hard to go thru.
Thoughts & prayers to you!

Oh I am so sorry. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Harley is now in a better place with no pain and suffering anymore. My baby, Sierra (Austrailian Shepard), passed two years ago and she is still in my heart.

I am so sorry. :grouphug: :grouphug:

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have two elderly cats along with my dog, who have been with me through some of the lightest and darkest times of my life. I pay so much attention to my dog, since she demands it, that sometimes the cats are like ghosts...I need to give them both a hug! My thoughts are with you and I am sure your dog is in a huge field with lots of things to chase!

I heard something a little boy said and it will always stick with me: "I guess animals don't live as long as people because we are sent to earth to learn how to live right and animals already know how to do it."

I just lost an animal not too many weeks ago. Digory was a ferret that was such a lap baby and sweet as sugar, but he had cancer in his abdomen and passed away a very young ferret. Had been in our family for 3 years. His cagemate is still mourning too.

I am sorry for your loss. I really understand...

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. They become a part of us don't they? I think I will go give mine an extra biscuit and rub his belly for a little while...

I am so sorry to hear about your beloved dog. I lost my dog this past April and he was bad for about a little over a year before he finally passed away. I also had an appointment for the vet for the next day to put him down. I had him longer than I had my 4 kids and it was so hard. But, he was kind and died with a smile on his face so that I could remember him by it. It's like he was telling me it was okay- that he was going to be okay. Maybe your dog was giving you a sign like that, too. He was telling you not to worry about him. And he will always remember you and appreciate how well you took care of him. I'm sure he will be very glad to be buried next to your window. I'll say a prayer for you and your friend. It does get better over time and remember- he's at peace now and he's not sick and suffering.

Very sorry to hear.

At least he was able to die on his own terms, though. Not at the hand of a human.

(I have had to have my puppy put down too... so sad :()

I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved Harley. Like 4FosterKids, we lost two Chessapeake Bay Retrievers one this year on Easter and one last year. They had wonderful lives and added so much to our lives. We still miss them. Now we have Nika, a very active Austrailian Shepherd cross, that I named one of my VMK characters after. At home we just call her 'devil dog' because she is so rambunctious.

Thank you for being such a good pet parent to Harley. I'm sure having you in his life made him very happy.

I am so sorry for your loss of Harley. I have been through this myself and know how you must feel. If you have not heard of it, going to www.rainbowbridge helped me a lot.

:sad1: When I have a loss I try to remind myself to think of happy memories and funny things they did. And as said earlier on this post, he is in heaven, and no longer ill. I hope your thoughts will turn to happy memories And I am thankful you had such a great friend. :paw: Poohdent

I am so sorry to hear about your lost. As I read tears welled up in my eyes. For I believe losing a pet is just the same as loosing a love one. I know he has gone to rainbow bridge. That is where are Sparkie went 3 years ago. The first few weeks are the hardest I thought the hurting would never stop. Then is slowly gets better. We have kept her collar a foot print from cement and a few of her favorite toys. We made a little ledge to put them on with photos of her growing up. And the poem rainbow bridge. She is still missed to day but we know she is happy at Rainbow bridge and is waiting for us some day to see her again. I also found petloss.com to be very helpful. You can even write about your pet.

So sorry for your lost.
