You win the ebay auction!!! It gets tense when you are down to the final few minutes, and you just don't know if some one will over bid you. You have to think quick. Decide if you are willing to go higher and then make your move! Of course it is funny when you sit there with different screens open trying to win watever it is you're trying to win, all energized by it, and then nothing, no one else bids, and it ends and you've won. Then you feel a little silly for being so worked up!

Thank goodness it is over! And I won!!! Yeah!!!

What did you win/buy? :)

Well it really isn't anything to be especially worked up about, but I collect Disney license plates. As I mentioned on the collecting things thread there are about 400 known official Disney license plates. This one is one that I did not yet have, and it went for a fairly good price. At the parks the license plates can go any where from $5-8 dollars depending on plastic/metal and then there are special plates (mirrored finishes, etc...) that can retail for about $20. When you start buying them on the internet though you have to take into consideration many things.

1. can this still be obtained at any of the Disney properties? (this is hard because unlike much of disney's merchandise, the way the license plates are catalogued (the numbers on the stickers) makes them almost impossible to obtain through the Disney merchandising departments, so you have to actually go to every place you want to buy them from)
2. is it plastic or metal
3. what condition is it in?
4. how rare is it to find through the second hand market (ebay, private trading)?
5. how rare is the plate in general (limited editions, cast member exclusives, free gifts to certain people)?

Of course there are other considerations, such as your own personal tastes. Do you collect from all parks/resorts or limit to specific areas? I do collect from all parks/resorts. I hope to one day have them all. I have a way to go, since there are currently approximately 400. This number is approximate because traders/collectors have to rely on information from other collectors. Unfortunately Disney keeps no records (available to the collecting public at least) of how many there are. The best and most reliable site out there is

Anyways. This is the plate I got today.
