Don't understand savings of DDP

I respectfullly disagree, and here's one scenario. Assuming a party of 2 adults at a value resort, the loss of the 40% discount is only about $40 a day, at the most. One dinner for 2 at Le Cellier (most expensive items) runs about $120 + tax + tip = $150. Add in 2 CS meals from Cosmic Ray's (most expensive items) at $38 + $2.50 tax and 2 $4 snacks and your total food bill for that one day is $198.50. Your cost for the DDP plus your "loss in discount" for that one day is about $118--a savings of more than $80.

I just wanted 2nd this.

My GF and I just did a 7 day trip to Pop a few weeks ago and did an AP discount saving us $23/night on the room. (This was before the 40% code fiasco!) We then spent in the $70-80 range per day for food--exactly the price of DDP for the two of us. This was doing one TS and one CS meal everyday plus some snacks, but we were trying to eat cheaply--no dessert, sharing appetizers instead of entrees, getting water instread of soft drinks, etc. So the only price difference was the $161 for the room, which is really just a little more than $20/day. If we had splurged a little more on food--picked more expensive restaurants or each ordered entrees or gotten appetizers and dessert we could easily have spent another $20/day.

What really made the difference for us was that we were hoping to get free dining in August (if it's offered) so we thought that could be our big eating trip, and this one we could tone the eating down a little and save a bit of money.

40% discount off room and DDP! That's a deal. When and for where did you get that? I was under the impression from these boards that you either got; 1. a room only discount, 2. package that included room at rack plus dining plan or 3. package that included room at rack rate plus free dining (when available) Has anyone else got room discount and DDP?

Whenever those little specials are offered on the website to book the discounted times or even the family of four for $1600 thing you can add dining to them of course the price is higher than $1600 since that is for the room and tickets, but you can add the DDP to that with no problem. I did it in December 2005, October 2006 and December 2006.
