Don't touch that! I need a picture first! TR - **NEW 04/17 PTR IS UP

Fab update Jen!:goodvibes I love your writing style, it's really fun and sarcastic!

:goodvibes Thanks! I try to make it funny and I'm pretty sarcastic in general so I'm glad it comes out in my writing style.

I'm sorry you're experiencing the Disney blues. That stinks. If it makes you feel any better, I'm feeling kinda blue too! Oh, I'm sure it was difficult that Bubba is going to Disney while you can't, I'd feel the same way! What job is she applying for at Disney? The Haunted Mansion (her costume was amazing!)

We can be blue together  Bubba is applying to for the Cultural Representative Program (same as the one she did before) and would work in Le Cellier. She definitely has the costume already for Haunted Mansion but sadly it's not for that.

We really like the Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Bubba's description is spot on!:thumbsup2

It's is quite the hidden gem. I would've never considered it before until I saw it on Lady Lallie's TRs.

Those churros look delish! Actually, they're making me hungry right now. I like this pic of you and Bubba AND the churro!

Doesn't the Churro just fit in so well? I think so!

Lame CM, making fun of you!:headache: I'd have thrown my churro at him.

I nearly died when I saw this :rotfl2: :lmao: I could just imagine me getting all angry and then throwing this half eaten churro at him :rotfl2: Too funny!

Ugh, Sillybandz! My girls have an obscene amount of them but finally the craze seems to be dying down. But you're right, they're everywhere! When we drove down to Disney, they had them at a nasty gas station we stopped at!

Ew, even nasty gas stations have them? Not sure if I'd get them from there!

A swim in the pool sounds perfect!

It sounds great right about now even!

I don't care for sushi but your pics are gorgeous! And wow, I didn't know that sushi isn't Chinese... The dessert looks scrumptious though! Well, minus the sprinkles, I can't stand them since it feels like I'm chewing tiny rocks.

They really need to actually LOOK at the chopsticks that they're serving there. It was pretty funny. Tiny rocks :rotfl: It's true though I completely agree. Sometimes it makes the whole eating experience so much harder :rotfl: (yes pun intended)

Looking forward to what the two churros do next!:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Hopefully next update will be up sooner than this last one took!

Great Update Jen !!!!Lucky Bubba being in Disney now !!!!I haven't ever eaten sushi and am not sure I would like it !!!But the cheesecake looked yummy!!!

I just knew you had a sarcastic nature Jen!:thumbsup2

Yes, we'll be the blues sisters! I am really campaigning for another trip and DH wants to go back...next January! That's like a year from now.:sad2:

Cool, Bubba will be at Le Cellier! She can teach all those non-Canandian guests how to do a proper thumbs up!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

So glad you loved the Little Mermaid show. We really enjoy it alot, Ariel is my middle DD's favorite princess so it was especially fun for her.:goodvibes

Your churro fit in perfectly! I completely agree. And yes, the idea of throwing my churro and watching it bounce off that CM's head would've crossed my mind! Of course I would NEVER have done it!

I find it hilarious that Kona Island SUSHI served Chinese chopsticks too!:rotfl: And now you'll always think of me when chew those nasty, rock hard sprinkles that Disney insists on putting on all their desserts!

Yikes. Just keep watching those Disney planner DVDs to get him in the mood so he'll want to go back sooner ;)

Most definitely!

I really liked Ariel growing up. I still wish I could like her in that pretty dress she's wearing at the end of the movie

No of course you wouldn't have! :rotfl:

Now I will notice how many desserts they put those things on thanks to you! It'll be interesting to see how often they are put on.

That shrimp tempura roll looks yummy!

I have about 1000 silly bandz that I can send you that my kids collected & refuse to wear now. :headache:

Hello everyone! Before I get to my next update, I wanted to tell you about my little trip to Buffalo to pick up Bubba on Saturday. The weather called for 3-5cm of snow which I thought wasn't a big deal. A light dusting of snow and it would pass on. Bubba's flight was scheduled to land in Buffalo at just after 9pm. About 45 minutes after I left, I got a text from her saying the flight had been delayed and wouldn't be leaving until 7:15pm. I couldn't imagine a flight being delayed that long for a minor snowfall so I kept on driving and came to a rest stop to grab some dinner. I checked her flight status one more time before I'd be across the border without access to the internet. It had been delayed AGAIN and wouldn't be leaving until 8pm. At this point it was only 6pm so I had loads of time to kill. Since I'd be going by Niagara Falls I thought why not pay a visit to the outlet mall?! Rosie (englishrose47) had graciously showed myself and Yuki around in January so I at least knew where I was going. The daylight was quickly fading so navigating around at night was much more difficult. My trusty GPS found the way and I was able to get to the mall without too much stress. The snow was starting to fall as I parked my car and it was at this point that I realized it was going to be a much worse storm than anticipated.

I spent at least 2 hours in the mall looking for any bargains. My first stop was Coach (of course!) which had a 30% off sale going on. I picked up another wristlet for my step-sis birthday and another purse for me at 50% off.... It can't be helped!!!! Love that place! Then I went to Old Navy and got DBF a zip-up hoodie for his birthday for $16. He's been wanting one for when he goes to work. I made a quick stop in B&BW but no good deals to be had there. I checked Aeropostale which still had $10 jeans but the ones I liked were too long and they didn't have them in short length. The girls working weren't very helpful either so I left empty handed. Then I found the Skechers store. Another dangerous one! They had a 40% off winter boots sale. At first I didn't think it was actually 40% off the last ticketed price until I asked one of the guys working there and he said it was. I was jubilant! I picked up a pair of Shapeup winter boots for $30! The guy working even told me they were originally $100+ at the beginning of the season. Feeling very accomplished, I texted Bubba to see what her status was. It was after 8pm now and she said the flight was only just leaving the gate but she ended up sitting on the tarmac for another half an hour.

The snow was really coming down by this point so I decided it best to head to the airport because it would take me twice as long to get there. This is where it got a bit scary. I was all by myself, driving in a place I'm not very familiar with, in the dark, in the middle of a blizzard! I was terrified but drove slowly along the highway basically following the car ahead of me. If they swerved off the road I made sure not to follow them in that case! What would've taken me half an hour took me over an hour to get to the airport. Then I had the task of finding the cell phone parking lot which had the SMALLEST signs in the world directing you there. First I went through the parking lot of the airport only to be spit back out on the same road I came in from. I had to drive down the road and turn onto another dark scary road (keep in mind it was snowing like a banjee) and then passed the cell phone lot by mistake (again worst signage ever!) but thankfully there was a roundabout at the end of the road. Now I know WHY they put that there because there'd be so many people making U-turns because they'd miss the bloody entrance! So I circled back and turned into the driveway of where the sign was pointing. You'd think a sign pointing right would be telling you to turn at your next right, right? Well, I ended up at the Airport Control Tower. :faint: This was going well! So I made yet another U-turn and finally found the parking lot covered in at least 2 feet of snow. I hunkered down and watched Inception on my iPhone for another hour and half until finally at 10:45pm I got a text from Bubba saying she had landed safely.

The drive home was no picnic either. The roads were a mess. I tried taking this highway that normally is plowed and well maintained but guess not on a weekend! The snowplows were only just getting out at 1am and we got stuck behind them. I got so frustrated at driving 40km/h (this is slow!!) so I tried getting on another highway which is normally busier and less well maintained but I thought at 1am it wouldn't be too bad. After 5 min on this highway, we hit a road block! The entire highway had been closed and was forcing everyone off the highway. URGH! :headache: :headache: So I ended up getting us back on the original highway but at least I wasn't behind those darn snowplows anymore. The entire drive home was super stressful. Bubba was in no shape to drive either because she felt really woozy from the turbulence on the flight. I don't blame her whatsoever! After a long journey all I would want to do is sleep! We finally pulled into our driveway at 3am and I slept for 11 hours that night. I was pooped! Next time I'll think twice about volunteering to pick someone up in Buffalo in the middle of winter! But honestly, Bubba would've been stranded and I know she would've done the same for me....

Bubba brought me back some really nice things. Even a sandwich from Earl of Sandwich that she had bought that day. I will post pictures as soon as the chaos at my house gets back to normal. My basement flooded yesterday so all my stuff and Bubba's stuff (we share a room in the basement) has been moved around and I don't know where anything is because my grandma did all the moving of my stuff since I was at work when all this was going on. Yeah, I'm a little stressed!

Sorry to read about your stressful, blizzard-filled drive Jenbear. And the flooded basement too!

The drive into the blizzard was obviously Bubba's fault, but can we find a way to pin the flooded basement on her too? ;)

I would have been a total basket case too, IF I had even gone at all. I'm really bummed for you that they missed the forecast so badly- if you had known, maybe you could have encouraged Bubba to get a hotel until the morning.

I'm just glad you're both safe and sound!

I love finding a good bargain- sounds like you scored on some nice things.

She brought you a sannie?? She is SO nice!! Does she want to come to our DISMeet?? I've been craving a few things.

The Buffalo weather has just been awful recently. :sad2: My mom and grandma were supposed to come visit me in Geneseo on Friday evening. It was snowing here all day, but around 5pm it stopped and the sun came out. It never stopped at home, it just kept blizzarding. So they couldn't make it. Hopefully the weather will cooperate in two weeks when I have to go home for spring break!

Now that you mention it, Bubba had suggested about half way home that we find a hotel somewhere. I really didn't want to spend $100+ for one night when I had already driven so much. I really should've suggested her getting hotel room. I'll remember that for next time, especially travelling in winter!

I'm just glad you're both safe and sound!

Thanks Liesa. It was a stressful evening to say the least.

It was great!

 I'll start taking orders

This was on Saturday night. I'm not sure if it was worse in Buffalo but when we got back home it looked like our neighbourhood had gotten quite a bit of snow as well. I hope the weather cooperates for you too! March is a bit harder to predict. It could rain one day and snow the next :scared1:

Oh Jen! What a crappy bunch of events! Sheesh, like you weren't already feeling the Disney blues but let's throw in blizzard driving conditions and flooded basements!:headache: Ack! I swear, sometimes getting to the airport is ridiculous even in fair weather! I can't tell you how many times I've done something quite similar to you...following the miniscule signs, thinking I was heading toward the arrival gate and then spit back out onto the main road?:confused3 (DH got me a GPS, I think that was probably a smart move!)

I think you need to book a trip ASAP then. Really, isn't that the only thing that will make this all better? Maybe you can get a doctors note too so that you won't have to use vacation time at work!

I don't mind driving in snow, regular snow that is. But blizzard conditions? Nope, no thanks. I recall one winter I was driving my dad's truck up an impossible hill on the main road during crazy snow and I fish tailed it all the way to top while crying! When I got home my dad was like, why are you crying?

I hope at the very least Bubba was glad to see ya!:goodvibes And she brought you stuff too so I guess you can't really be mad at her then, right?

I used to have a horrible sense of direction.... until I got a compass built-in with my car and a GPS  You're right about the airport...any airport for that matter! There is enough signage but I swear it's still a complicated mess and nobody knows where they're going!

You hit the nail right on the head. I swear there's something wrong with society and working for money. It should all just grow on trees and then people could focus their time and energy on having fun instead!

I would've freaked if that had been me :scared1: As soon as my car does anything but go in a straight line when I want it to, I panic :rotfl: Poor thing! How old were you when that happen....or maybe I shouldn't ask :rolleyes1

I hope at the very least Bubba was glad to see ya!:goodvibes And she brought you stuff too so I guess you can't really be mad at her then, right?

Yes, she was definitely happy to see me and I was glad to see her! I told her she had to pay me back by getting me a present. I think she outdid herself this time though! I'll post pictures soon!

That does not sound like a fun drive at all. Glad you made it back safely.

I wish I had brought my camera just to show how crazy the snow was. Hopefully never have to go through that again.

Oh Jen what a stressful time !!!

It would've been tons more fun with you there Rosie!

I promised pictures of my loot and Bubba's gift to me so here you go!

First my new prized possession:

k04qwl.jpg

The strap isn't quite as long as I'd like it to be but I love finally having a cross-body type purse.

The Skechers boots:

These are fabulously warm and amazing to walk in. They are the "Shape-Up" style which claims you tone muscle, etc while you walk. I'm not as concerned with that as much as it is supposed to improve your posture. Hopefully it helps with that!

Coach Wristlet I got for my step-sis:

She likes purple so hopefully this will suit her

Zip-up Hoodie for DBF:

Nothing special here but that's what he's been wanting :confused3

And now.... the present from Bubba. It came in this:

At first I wondered, is it just a fancy box? Honestly, I loved the box! I was going on and on how I loved the decoration and how detailed it was until Bubba asked "Well aren't you going to open it?!"

So I did. Here's what was inside:

Isn't it lovely?! I know, you're probably thinking "Ears? What's so great about ears?!" But these are not the cheap plastic $8 ones you get off the shelf in stores. Oh no. These are hefty, felt covered 40th anniversary edition! It came with those pack of patches too which I haven't opened. I'm not sure if I should in case it decreases the value of the whole thing  I absolutely adored this gift from Bubba. I had told her I wanted something that had to do with the 40th anniversary going on but this I did not expect. She could've got me a pin and I would've been happy. This was truly special.

And one last thing. I got my hair cut a few weeks back to give myself a refresh. Here's a shot from the day I got it done :goodvibes

I hate traveling in snow, whether by car, by train, by bus, or by plane. Glad you made it safely back.

Awesome pictures, and I like your new haircut. I need to get mine cut!

Love the gift from Bubba!! What a nice nice box!!! Is that an original ticket?? IF only they did 40th anny prices like that this year......$7.25.....wow!!! :lmao:
