Totally OT, but this is a GREAT tip (meeting at a police station). I have a police station right down the road from my home, and have been wanting to sell a few things on Craigslist, but was afraid of setting up the meeting/exchange of funds. I think I'd feel safe doing it in the police station parking lot. Great idea!! Thanks!

It goes without saying, if a "buyer" (or seller) has a problem with meeting at the cop shop, it's fairly likely they might not be the ideal person to be doing business with, for whatever reason.

FYI, once I withdraw funds to my bank account, I always remove bank account and credit card information on file. This way, if buyer files a claim, they are SOL.

And when paypal sends you to collections, then what? And they don't need your SSN to send you to collections and ding your credit report.

The tickets I was selling were ones I bought from a ticket broker, already over-priced. I was selling them for much less than I paid because it was only 5 days from concert.

I lost money because she had agreed to a certain price and then couldn't come up with money. I had to find another buyer quickly and had to reduce price.

not through ebay, so that is not an issue.

could not do straight refund because money was already in middle of transfer to bank, and would take 5-7 business days, I had to send money immediately back.

Sorry guys, still won't use paypal again. Way too easy for someone to make a claim or file a dispute.

I am not sure that many users have actually read all the terms and conditions for paypal use.

lesson learned,but I won't get involved again.

couldn't do meet up at safe location because I have 2 kids and life is busy. Paypal seemed like best option at the time.

I like paypal. I am strictly a buyer but I had a seller who kept saying that a bunch of bathroom stuff I had ordered would be sent out the very next day (130.00) and kept saying that for 6 weeks. I filed a dispute. They tried to communicate with her, it failed and I got my money back with little fuss. It was way safer for me as a buyer than to just hand money to some stranger randomly. I prefer to purchase from paypal sellers.
