DON'T Read This TRIP REPORT If You're a Princess Hater!

OK, here's where I have to give a shout out to our newest follower........ RinkyTinkyTinky!

So I'm a little slow......... but of course I just figured out where your ID came from! LOL!:rotfl2:

Am I right?

And a rinky tinky tinky! EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE A CAT!

YES! You are correct! No one ever figures it out so don't feel bad. :confused3 I am a HUGE fan of Disney music though, and I probably know more Disney lyrics than any 30 something should ever admit to. I may even listen to it in the car when my DD isn't with me. :rolleyes1

When my DD was about 2 years old, we started watching Disney movies with her. Aristocats was our first one. SHE LOVED IT! One of my fondest memories of those "baby" days was when she ran into the living room in nothing but her underwear b/c she heard that song playing on the movie. She started dancing and singing and when the "oh a rinky tinky tinky" part came on, she stuck out her little hiney and started shaking and singing her lungs out. It was hilarious! (And she would kill me if she knew I had told that story to anyone!) So anyway, that movie started our love for all things Disney, and that song is quite a catchy little tune, so that's where the name came from! Aristocats is really a great movie! I think it gets overlooked.

I love your pictures from the meet with Marie! That outfit is soooo cute! :cutie:

I'm really with you on the Disney music. I have a 5 CD set with various songs and just love to pick one in the car and see what I get. I actually love the music more than anything else Disney (OK, so maybe not the costumes..... :rolleyes1). I was (pathetically!) pretty excited to find Everybody Wants to be a Cat on one of the CD's!

The Rinky Tinky Tinky story is adorable!

My favorite Aristocats memory was in the middle of the night. I had been up with Katie for some time with her crying her way through an ear infection. I had given her pain med and was waiting for it to kick in so we could go back to bed. There's a scene where Toulouse puffs himself up and goes "Meow....pfft....pfft", blowing like a cat does trying to be all tough. So Katie LEAPS down off the couch on all 4's..... then starts doing her OWN Toulouse impersonation......... "MEOW........pfft......pfft". It was a long time ago, but I still laugh.

Yay - updates! I love Marie too - she's just so fluffy and pretty. We haven't watched Aristocats in awhile, I may have to change that, I love that move too.

Great update! Love the back story for Marie being your favorite! My almost 10 year old still gets ear infections in the middle of the night! I agree that Epcot-especially World Showcase- always gets shorted on our trips! But we will be there for Food and Wine this year, so that may change! and it was announced to me this morning that NEITHER of my girls want true customs to wear in October :scared1: I am hoping to start sewing soon, and was verifying what they want, and as of now, they only want store bought shirts with appliqué (by me) on it and NO skirts. only store bought shorts. Sigh. I should be happy they will (hopefully) wear the shirts, but I am still sad! They have agreed to wear a Halloween Vida as a shirt and of course I will sew costumes for MNSSHP. I am disappointed, but I will survive!

Kadence just got excited when she saw your Marie photos.:lmao: On our trip, Marie is the character that snapped her out of a major meltdown:eek:

We love The Aristicats! That movie and the jungle book are high on my favorites list. It's the music!

Katies' outfit is adorable!

I highly recommend it. Can't think of a Disney movie I love more.

I actually thought parts of Princess & the Frog reminded me of The Aristocats.

Thanks!

Shannon (revrob) did the applique of Marie. I knew from the moment I saw that line of pink and black fabric that I would use it for a Marie set. It was really fun that Katie and I both equally loved that set.

Katie has agreed to several new costumes for our next trip. But I'm not sure about the skirt sets. So far she doesn't seem interested in any skirts. I think I'd like to embellish some jeans, but have never done that before. I'll have to play this one by ear.

I think the Halloween Vida as a shirt is a great idea!

Man, I wish I knew how to do applique work!

We haven't watched Jungle Book in FOREVER! In fact, VHS might be the only format we have it in, if that's any indication.....

Regardless, I think there's a VCR left in this woefully out of date house somewhere...... We need to watch it!

And you need to watch the Aristocats!

These outfits are too cute! I love the Belle dress! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you liked Belle. :goodvibes There's actually another Belle dress to come shortly....... Completely new ground for us too!

And thanks for all the comments on the skirt set. I love that she finally got to wear one without all the layers of t-shirts and other stuff underneath! :lmao: Here's my favorite shot:

She is beautiful! princess: Those dimples are too cute! :cutie:

We wanted to find Belle & Beast again, but still had some time to kill. So we went on into the World Showcase. I also wanted to find Santa in America and visit the shop in Japan. Believe it or not….. as we worked our way around the World Showcase…… we actually got a little….. dare I say it……… HOT????? Amazing given how bitter cold it was just a few days earlier. We even stopped for a shaved ice in Japan. The forecast was for a high of 77 that day. It was the only day of the trip I wore shorts.

Katie wanted to visit the shop in Japan to see the Hello Kitty merchandise. I wanted to visit for a different reason. I had read about “Pick a Pearl” on the Disboards but had never noticed it in the parks. Jen had posted a link to an inexpensive carriage pearl cage on Ebay, so I bought one and put it in my camera bag. Once we got to Japan, I showed Katie what they were doing and told her she could pick one. It was really cool and one of the highlights of the trip for both of us. I loved watching her excitement and seeing how she treasured her pearl necklace.

What great timing you have! :)

And many thanks or the well wishes. It really does feel momentus. I don't think I've processed it all yet. I still want to journal my thoughts for the scrapbook pages I will do. But I want to sit with my feelings for a bit first.

OK, that is awesome. I never knew you could pick a pearl... I barely spend any time in Japan... Epcot needs to get more time on the next trip as it takes a long time to get through all the cool stuff.

I love seeing DIS through other people's eyes so I can learn and experience so much more - making the next trip all the better. And you Janet are one of the best at helping with that (as I have mentioned before). Thanks!

That necklace is very nice too - so cute! Can you PM me the web info, I would love to get one for Sydney for next spring?

We loved pick a pearl in Japan last year...we loved it so much we went back and did it again on our (gasp) second Epcot day!

I love how you captured every minute of the experience! :dance3:

We did PAP on our '09 trip and we both made that EXACT same necklace! I wear mine a lot and get so many comments on it. It's fun to tell people the story of how the necklace came to be, and my DD loves that we have matching jewelry!

Oh yeah. And we have fun. But always very quietly, and just to ourselves. Some of those characters have been VERY kind toward us and we would never want to hurt any feelings. There's a thread on the DIS right now where someone was complaining about how terrible their Belle was. And they posted a photo. I don't like that. No need to possibly hurt feelings.

Thank you so much for saying this. It makes me sad when people post mean comments about the face characters. Who among us hasn't had an awful photo taken of them? Since I know there are many CMs on the boards, I can't imagine how devestating it would be to come across a photo of yourself with cruel comments attached. It is as if people forget there is a real person - it's not an animatronic!

Great update on your Epcot day. As always, stunning pictures of your beautiful daughter and the characters. You do a excellent job of capturing the characters love of seeing Katie dressed up. Both Belles and Marie seem very excited to see Katie's outfits.

I love Belle in her blue dress. I finally ran into her at DHS in the Animation Building on our December trip, but she had her cape on because it was so cold! I tried to explain to my husband that I was disappointed because you couldn't see her blue dress in the pictures and he looked at me like I was from another planet. :confused3 The joke was on him a few minutes later when HE was disappointed because Jasmine had on her cape. ;)

Thanks for letting me talk princesses with you! With an all male household except me I have to get my princess fix on the boards.
