Hi all!
I just wanted to thank you all for (1) being so very nice. I constantly see people freaking out around here about some strange things. I appreciate you putting up with us newbies! (2) Thank for you for all the time you have spent putting together theses FAQ and threads. Mother and I are off on a girl's week Sept. 13-21 with our very first stay at BC... or any Deluxe for that matter! I am so excited!!!!

Now, I have to ask, what exactly is in a Sunken Treasure? I saw a photo and decided that is the beginning of my vacation. :worship:

Sunken Treasure is a journey to a bygone era. A time when men were men, women were women, and small furry creatures from Alpha Centuri were small furry creatures from Alpha Centuri.

But I digress

It is a drink no Longer on the menu but the bartenders know how to make them it has Midori rum in it and it is very tasty

I got one at 'Ohana as well but not as good

Do they usually cancel the friendship boats if the weather forecast predicts rain? We are quite used to swift walks going for miles at a time so walking to DHS wouldn't bother us but it might be an inconvenience to others.
I sat on a parked boat for a while at DHS last month during some rain. The captain had received orders to park it, and several of us decided to wait out the rain rather than walk back to the bus stop. My feet hurt so I was with the waiters. It was a pleasant break, watching the clouds and rain from the water, but I had to meet DD at a particular time so after my feet stopped aching so much I slogged off to the bus stop.
I think it was a lake wind advisory (or possibly t-storms in the area) that shut it down though, rather than the rain itself.
Also, it was my understanding that the bus was "called" to DHS specifically to operate in place of the boat. They probably do that whenever the boats are shut down? By the way, the captain was wonderful. He made sure everyone knew where to find the bus and that the bus actually came.

...Waiting for the experts to chime in....

I could swear it was on the menu on the Disney Cruise Line too...on Pirate's Night!

Friendship boats cancel if there is lightning in the area

And SAB had plenty of swim vests, but they seemed a bit large.

Hello all..

Big time reader (read: lurker)...love all the information I get from reading this board.
So..question about breakfast options. My kiddos love those Mickey waffles...will we have to go to the YC to get them? Do I need reservations for Captain's Grill..or can we take a chance and walk over? Long walk?
Any other options for breakfast...we tend to like a bigger breakfast before we start our day.

Thank you!!

I asked this on the resturant boards b/c my DD Loves mickey waffles and isn't a huge of of eggs (actually she hates them lol). A father told me he walks over to Captain's Grille and (this is where I am a bit confused) and does he pay a buffet price? And then asks for a carry out container and he just throws a half dozen mickey waffles in the bag for his family and brings it up to their room. And he said he wasn't the only person doing this?

So I guess the question is...is it ok to do this ? On one hand you are paying one price for "buffet" but feeding your family with mickey waffles, but you are only taking a few? Not even sure how much the buffet is. Anyone ever heard/done this?

We are also bringing cereal and bagels for DD b/c our food options are pretty limited she doesn't like eggs and has a peanut/tree nut allergy so breakfast over at the boardwalk bakery probably wouldn't be safe for her.

Also anyone know how much mickey waffles are from room service? And how long does it usually take for them to bring it up?

My opinion, take that for what it is worth.

Disney is not losing money, but what he is doing is wrong

Wow, busy weekend since I didn't get on my computer much at all!

I'm sitting here this morning paying down my balance with gift cards. Under $1000 left. Hoping a large portion of that will be taken care of with a RO discount when time rolls around! :goodvibes

I thought I asked this question before, but I can't seem to find it, so I'll try again...

In the AM, if DH and I want to make it over to DHS for rope drop, are we better off walking or taking Friendship boats? Do the boats even run that early? (Non EMH day).

I haven't read the next few pages yet, but we walked to HS for rope drop and it wasn't an EMH day. Not a single boat passed us, which I thought was odd, but I don't know if they were running or not. I don't remember how long it took, but we might not be a good group to ask because I tend to walk very quickly when I want to get somewhere and you better keep up with me! :)

The countdown for this vacation seemed to be dragging, but now we are 6 days out and I feel like there's not enough time! So much to do at work, shopping, packing, and getting ready for back to school...phew!

But now, I'm mostly nervous hoping my family love the YC! We usually stay at, and love, POR. My family loves the peaceful tranquility and walks around the resort.

I'm really hoping everyone likes my decision to stay here this year- we got a deal that made the YC cheaper than POR...how could I say no to that?

Maybe I should be more worried that they're really going to like it and want us to stay there next time! ;)

That's what's happening to us! We adore POR and used to always stay there until we spent two days at YC and SAB (no park tickets even). Now that we've stayed at YC for a week and seen just how easy the transportation is, well.... I do miss the quiet at POR and walking around Alligator Bayou though. If your family loves Ol' Man Island they'll really love the slide at SAB. Have a great trip!

I am going to attempt uploading from my brand new photobucket app... Thanks to very detailed instructions from a few of you! Thanks for the help! Hoping it works!

Managed to pick up sone spending money today for our son and found a cute little candy store in town that stock american candies and sodas, what a nice surprise for our son to see those sweets!

Been cleaning the house today ready for the weekend, I know it's daft but I hate to come home to housework. Must pack the cases soon too and pick up the last bits and pieces. Checked the train lines there are no scheduled maintenance work plans to disrupt our journey to the airport and no changes to our flights either which is good.
Loving the photos of the merchandise so thanks to those of you who took the time to post them.

Got to get some repair work done on our chimney when we get back ( long story) trying not to think about it ,we have a builder organised to start work once we return but the neighbours and their housing association don't want to talk about the situation so ... It will have to be done no matter what.

So roll on one week's time we will be on our way to some relaxation and good times.

Friendship boats go down when lightning is within a certain distance away. At that time, buses are dispatched to Hollywood Studios.

I don't know how CG normally handles this, but I've eaten at many places not at Disney that are normally all you can eat buffets, but you can get a "to go" container and stuff it as you would like if you are not going to eat there. I used to do that more often when I was single, because I might like the food, but not want to eat alone at the restaurant. If that's the policy at CG, then why not? One "to go" container's worth of food is no more than some people eat if they dine in. :confused3

I am new to this site so sorry if this question has been asked before- what are the building numbers that are closest to the Epcot walkway? I have looked at the resort map but it doesn't have any numbers. Please help!! Thanks.:cheer2:

Just from that post, I have located my towel. Thanks for the heads up on that! :goodvibes

I don't believe the buildings are numbered because it is all one building. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That's so good to know thank you! I would not be happy to walk back at night if the boats were not operating, I am very cautious about where I go if I'm not familiar with an area to begin with. I'm so pleased they called a bus around for you and the other guests and that the captain made sure it turned up to take the passengers that's good service. I guess the winds and possible thunderstorms do have a huge impact on the transport services there.

For us Brits who are used to walking everywhere in all weathers at home it probably wouldn't bother us much to see the wet weather and strong winds (only floods ice and snow slow us down on English road systems and councils can't manage it) however I understand that from a public health and safety POV it makes sense to be careful especially for a company like WDW. We did check out the walkway on the resort maps and have seen a couple of great videos of both the friendship boat journeys and the alternative of walking along the paths going to and from DHS from the resort and even checked out the route to the Hess station ( you never know we might require some items there) and how to get around the Boardwalk areas walkways. We also intend to use another hotel as a hub to get to DTD by bus and boat from other parks if needed, ah the joys of understanding the Disney Transportation System and all the possible combinations of routes to and from locations DH understands now how to use it to work for us so we are prepared to get from AK to WL/ FW for Hoop-De-Doo you get the idea.

We like the bus services but sometimes it's quite a pleasant change to escape the crowds and take a walk and go at our own pace for once, now don't misunderstand me I love the parks though it can get frustrating when you are trying to navigate around other guests at bottleneck locations.... You know the ones often where construction work is going on and suddenly people don't quite know where they want to be and cannot find their way around. I do realise that this problem is down to lack of communication and not the fault of other guests it can't be that hard to reassign and open other footpaths around areas where the work is still ongoing. I'm all for the work being done I just wish that they would hurry the heck up with it all it's distracting us from our enjoyment of the parks. Surely they can speed it up it's poor compared to other parks attractions being built these days.

I really don't want to get stuck on a monorail though those guests that were unfortunate recently must have been very unhappy and it's not the first time that it's had issues... it's a shame they stopped guests riding up front I understand that it was a safety thing after that awful crash a while back. We were were once lucky enough to be "co-pilots" one day and the driver was awesome and showed us lots of wildlife we just waited and took some quick snaps from up there watching the deer and fawns in the woodland nibbling the green foliage and spotting the turkeys and alligators and he shared with us his passion for walking holidays in the UK a really genuinely lovely guy but it's important to think about health safety too not just for guests but also for the staff operating them.

Ok, dilemma time.

It's not really a bad thing...in fact it's a nice problem to have. ;)

I have an AP that is set to expire on 8/22, or rather, that is my "Anniversary Date."

We currently have 2 WDW trips planned for the upcoming year. :lovestruc

We'll be at YC from Dec 4-8.
Then we'll be at BC from 8/17/14-8/23/14.

Perhaps in looking at all the dates, you've figured out my problem.

I can renew my current AP at a discounted rate ($95 back in my pocket), if I do it within 30 days of my anniversary date (8/22). The "problem" is, my trip next year is scheduled to run until 8/23...leaving me with one day with no park tickets. I'm trying to decide if it's worth $95 to not go to a park on my last day. I'm a big fan of flying out late on my last day, sooooo...I'd have to busy myself in SAB, or going to DTD etc. all day. It will be so hard not to sneak back into Epcot for a Grey Goose or a German wine flight! The 23rd next year is also a Saturday, so there's the smallest chance we may extend as I won't need to be back to work until Tuesday......meaning we could possibly stay until Monday.

Argh...decisions...decisions....

Thoughts?

Ahhhh, thought I was the only fan here!! Reading the second book to my son now...

So, FOUR more sleeps and the other mom texted me and said her DH sent his passport to Ottawa TODAY so he could get a visa for his China trip (he leaves 4 days after they come back) and he may not get his passport back in time for our trip!!!! My friend is pissed and my DH is disappointed - the wife and kids are going regardless but it takes the fun out of it for him!!!

:welcome: ThumpersMommy.

I'll be coming through in a bit to officially welcome all of our new friends.

:goodvibes

You are correct- all one building, so no building numbers. Just Yacht Club, Beach Club or Beach Club Villas.

The number of the room closet to the EPCOT walkway is Room 1501. If you go to the Beach Club Room post, there is a description and pictures of the "Super Secret Beach Club Entrance/Exit"

:thumbsup2

Thank you Teena I'm so glad that you had a lovely time with your family recently they are beautiful and it's wonderful that you and Bob celebrated your anniversary, sorry I missed it at the time, he is looking great. I don't know where this thread would be without your expertise and you put all our worries away with all your friendly up to date info.
Good to know that the fridge swaps are done too that's a relief our son snacks constantly at home we may well have to stock up on food in the room once we get settled in, this teen must have hollow legs because I cannot see where else he puts it away.
