Hello all..

Big time reader (read: lurker)...love all the information I get from reading this board.
So..question about breakfast options. My kiddos love those Mickey waffles...will we have to go to the YC to get them? Do I need reservations for Captain's Grill..or can we take a chance and walk over? Long walk?
Any other options for breakfast...we tend to like a bigger breakfast before we start our day.

Thank you!!

I purchased that second picture during our visit a few weeks back.

:goodvibes

It hangs in our bedroom (of course!).

Is the beach club really big and spread out? Are there any not so great rooms that are a hike to the pool or bus stop?

Not as near spread out as the moderates or value and actually not as spread out as some deluxe's. Thinking Poly and GF outer buildings. If being close is a priority just request 'Close to Elevator' Take a look at this (old) map and it will give you an idea of the layouts.

Beach Club Map

Been lurking for awhile, have found lots of great information for our upcoming visit. But still have a couple of questions:

We will be using the DDP with mugs, a previous post said that the "Ale and Compass Lounge in the Yacht Club resort (coffee/tea self-service, juices and soda behind the bar, until 12 Noon for mug refill"

Do you know what kind of juices you can request to fill mug? My kids do not drink soda. What about milk?

Also, we will be stopping at grocery store for some snacks and water before we arrive. I have checked in online already with an estimated arrival time of noon, as we will be arriving before official check in: If my room is ready before 3, will I get a text? Or do I have to check in that I am early? I plan on picking up some refrigerator items and don't want them to spoil waiting for my room.

Thanks!

Welcome Lurkers 3Princesses and Ladybugmum. We were all lurkers once. Family now!

Another tip. Bell Services have refrigerators and can store perishables for you if they have space available. Have a great trip.

I stink at this... def can't figure it out on my iPhone.... trying on computer.

Hi, not sure if I can help or not but I've been practicing so I can put pictures on here next week. Presuming you already have the photo on your iPhone uploaded to photobucket, select the photo you want to post, press the little i info button, then choose the bottom IMG option and it copies the code to clipboard, then just paste the code on here. Hope that helps!

Thanks for slipping out of lurkdom for a few minutes!

I do have you on the Be Our Guest list for December, but I'll add your dates to the listing.

I think the 3 places you can get Mickey Waffles at the Beach & Yacht Club are:

BC: Cape May Café- character buffet breakfast

YC: Captain's Grille- a la carte menu or buffet- I don't think reservations are really necessary in the morning. About a 3 minute walk from BC lobby to YC lobby

Room Service- here is a menu link from the first page of the thread

If you use your imagination, can you picture a Grey Goose Slushie in one of those refillable mugs? Got it? Good! Cuz that's what I used my mug for the following day. Let me tell ya, it kept the rain out of my Slushie! Kudos to the mastermind behind that brilliant idea!

My iPad is on 8% battery life and I'm banned from the family room (where my desktop computer is) since its the season premiere of both Breaking Bad and Dexter. More pics tomorrow.....

Good night!

Live the drink pics :rotfl: I had a Piña Colava at Por and it is so good!

Brill photos everyone, thanks for sharing. Got to love those towel animals and erm, trees :lmao:

I didn't see any, but it sounds like you can. It's a fast slide with a couple of sharp turns towards the bottom. Those waterfalls pouring on your face at two different points are strong too!

Thank you to everyone who responded back about the slide and the life vests. My DS5 will be very excited. Thank you, wlake, for the details about the ride...that was very helpful.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about a reservation- it was nearly empty at around 8AM when we were there. They have a lovely looking buffet (which we didn't have- weren't hungry enough to make it worth while), and DH and I had the to die for Citrus Scented French Toast, and Dark Chocolate Waffles, respectively. It's not a bad walk...depending on what park you're going to. It's actually a little closer to the boat dock (but a longer walk to Epcot) and the bus stops at YC first, if you want to be guaranteed a seat.

Catho!!!!

TY so much for the pics of the non-refillable insulated mugs!!! I have my eyes on the seagull "mine" one...

We are down to "the day after tomorrow"!!!! :thumbsup2

Bags are 90% packed, animals are 90% set...now its just waiting tilll....hey! We can check in for the flight tomorrow!!!! Dang! its right around the corner.:)

I told my family (last night) that I can not wait for the Pina CooLava and Grey Goose Slushie... Guess who is getting a refillable mug that is not for coffee:rolleyes1

Teena: is that sinking resort near you?? Must have been scary to wake up and see that, poor guests!!!!

Looks like we may be planning a Mardi Gras trip :). But unless some really good discount comes along I think we will be giving WL try :(. I'm trying to stay positive about it......it has been on my bucket list.

Its half way in between me and Disney. We're getting ready to leave for the Princess Breakfast at Norway now so we will be driving by the resort. It's pretty well off the road though so I'm not sure what we will see.

Glad you are safe! How scary for those people!!

Well we are all packed up!!! :thumbsup2
While packing noticed that we needed a charger for DD's DS for the car
AND a charger for our DVD player (a regular charger, we have the car one) anyone know if they sell replacements for them? And under such short notice?

I am missing a whole bunch of chargers apparently.

I don't know about the DVD charger, but we just got DS a new charger for his DS last week at Target. I think it was $11.99. Good luck!

We stayed at the WL for the first time last Feb and we really liked the resort. After twenty years of staying at Epcot resorts we really missed not being able to walk into Epcot during our stay. But we loved having a real counter service restaurant, Roaring Forks. And it was really easy to go the MK from there.

We are going back to the WL in Dec but will return to the BC at the end of April. It is the best of both worlds. :)

Anyone know if the new mugs have made it over the BC/YC yet.

The new machines have been installed. But I haven't heard anything about them getting the new mugs yet.

I have been trying to read up on this on other threads- it sounds like they are still working out the kinks at the All Stars. With the new machines installed, that is probably an indication that the mugs are coming soon, but if I had to guess, I would say it will be a few weeks at least.

:)

OK- I'll never get caught up on this thread after a week of radio silence at WDW.
Just back from Yacht Club, all was well with only a few minor issues. We stayed in room 3237, which was a standard view- lovely view of a roof, but it also looked Stormalong bay. We were right by an emergency exit, and SOOOOO wished we could use those stairs...it was a long hike to the elevator! Our room had 2 beds and a daybed. Fridge was NOT switched out. Our safe held an ipad and 2 kindle fires. I have pictures of the room/view somewhere but haven't got around to looking through/ uploading pictures yet.
Got Pinacolavas and Sunken Treasures at SAB, and Grand Marnier slushies at Epcot (yum!!!). Used String Bags, and while we ended up actually putting our stuff in them (first try, the security person made DH empty his pockets because they were so stuffed :lmao: ) it was a great thing because it kept me from my usual sherpa tendencies, which made my neck and shoulders so much happier.
Great trip overall. Sad because it will probably be a long time until our next trip to the World :(

Thanks so much for your detailed report. I'm glad you had a great trip.

:goodvibes

Random question. Will the rehab extend to the BC Villas or is it just in the main hotel portion? I realize they have different decorating schemes but just hoping the villas can get a facelift too... seems about time. 67 days til I go back!! :yay:

The villas are separate from the BC, so the rehab at the resort will not impact the villas at all. I think I keep reading that all of the DVC rooms will be undergoing at least a soft rehab (bedding and such) soon, but I have seen no firm details.

:)

Our last day here at YC. Checked out and sitting by the pool. Thanks to all who have suggested the locker rooms for changing! With a 7:15 flight, this has been great!

Had a Sunken Treasure today. It was mighty yummy!

We have enjoyed our stay very much. Mousekeeping was terrific, and the CL staff very nice. We were less than thrilled with the behavior of many of the other guests both in the lounge and at the pool. Let's just say the 'it is all about me' mentality abounds. Today we sat next to a table that someone raced in to claim at 10:00 and, 4 hours later, they have not been back. There must be a better way.

It has been 6 years since our last WDW trip and will probably be that long again. Until then, thanks for the memories YC!

Glad you had a nice trip. Thanks for sharing your input.

I agree, the behavior from fellow guests can be really tough to take. Courtesy, folks!

:thumbsup2

We're home now, and I must admit I'm glad to be back in my own house. I'm going to be changing my tune when dinner time rolls around and I have to think of something and then cook it! :rotfl: By tomorrow morning when I realize I have to start the housework again, I'll be completely ready to be back at YC.

I was back on pg. 174 and have skimmed through so please forgive me if I missed something or am repeating something:

- there were 10 hangers (some with clips) in our room plus 2 with the robes.
- only the regular pink, blue, and black mugs were available but I saw people in the parks with orange, green, and purple ones. I wanted to ask them if we could trade, just like pins! :)
- the soda machines seemed to be set up for RDIF with two little video screens.
- we were in room 5218 (YC) and did not have a daybed.

As to the bad reviews, here is my critical no-holds-barred review of YC CL:
- the shower curtains in the room don't stretch far enough across and one of the rings was broken.
- they need more rolls and chocolate chip cookies. (Then again, some people need to tell their children not to take 6 rolls that they then do not eat because their brother touches them.)
- our room didn't get turned down the first night.
- and my one halfway serious thing, the person who took us up to CL when we checked in was one of the least friendly CMs we've ever encountered. It wasn't a big deal, but if it had been our first YC CL stay, it wouldn't have been a good first impression at all. As it was, it did stick with me.

We often stay at higher end Marriotts (not trying to be snobby here, just trying to make a point) when we travel, and YC blows them away for friendliness, cleanliness, and service. I'm sure BC is much the same.

Now off to read that thread for some entertainment while I avoid laundry!popcorn::

We appreciate all of your live check-ins and info-gathering. Thanks!

Well, just knowing that you tried it once AND are going back has me feeling more comfortable about it!!! If you didn't like it you'd never go back, right?
