For the photoshoot, has anyone made an appointment upon arrival @ WDW? I am still unsure how we will fit it in the schedule and what time we would like to do it, morning, noon, nite? if it rains I would be disappointed .

Less than 3 weeks out.....the wait is killing me, I kinda feel like I need this vacation this year more than any of our previous vacations...I really need to get away lol.

o and this is going to sound like a "duh" question but this is my first time staying at a deluxe as an adult and we are driving down. So when we drive in do we park our car at front and a bellman will come and grab our luggage, or do we have to park and then carry everything to the front?

I know what you are all thinking....I sound like a ditz, but we aren't world class travelers, the only get away we do is our Disney vacation and its been @ CBR and AS, I guess I just want to know where to unload our stuff...which will be a lot after a 18+ hour drive haha.

I had drinks tonight with two guys I met on the internet!

Guess who!!!

Johnny Depp and Matthew McConaughey!!!

The carousel (gingerbread/chocolate) is on a timer. It goes around for four hours, then off for one, on for four, etc. The piped in music in the lobby never shuts off as far as I know. I've never been there at midnight. The carousel very well may shut off all night (maybe midnight to five or something like that) but I have no idea. I just know during the day it is on a timer. One year we shut it off all night and ran it all day and after a few days the motor burned up.

I know the train running at the Yacht Club is off and on too ... mostly off as far as what guests tell me.

The motor burned out because of all those people LICKING the Gingerbread! The motor couldn't take the increased coefficient of friction. (I know this because I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express recently....)

Yup! ScottMC and his partner JNPants:

Scott, Dee, Tom

So my guess was correct!

I've seen shoots all times of day. You make the appointment and they meet you there. Some people actually have a shoot taken with me ... and I'm sure the other greeters.

Pull up to the front of the resort and tell the valet you need to unpack. They will assist you and store your bags. Then leave and park your car, come back and check in. Or have one adult park and the other one check in.

Hi everyone!

My mom and I returned from our trip over a week ago...we had a great stay at the Yacht Club, and I was super impressed with the Conference Center! I wrote a blog post about our thoughts, but the summary is we absolutely loved it!

We've previously stayed at Coronado, and the rooms themselves were very similar (of course the YC rooms are bigger). We booked a Standard with the conference rate, and when checking in we noticed it said Pool/Lagoon View. We had room 1079, and it gave us a great side view of the Lighthouse out on the lagoon. Check in was a breeze, our KTTW cards worked perfectly with tap to pay, and all the cast members we encountered were great. We really enjoyed Beaches & Cream and Yachtsman (and I thought the conference food was unbelievable...I was really blown away)!

Of course what can't be beat is the location. Epcot is our favorite park, and it was great to be a short walk away. We had no issues with long waits for busses when we went to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom (from the Yacht Club anyway. We waited nearly 45 minutes for an AK bus from AKL after breakfast one morning, for the 3rd year in a row).

We loved the resort, and if budget allowed we'd be there for all of our trips. As an educator in NC..that just isn't going to happen all the time for me though :) I can't complain though, because I will be at the BC for the TOT 10 Miler in October, so I can't wait to compare the two!

Thank you all for this informative thread! It really helped us not feel "lost" while figuring out a new resort!

All, just want to say thanks to all of the useful information on this board. We will be at the Yacht Club CL from 8/17-8/25.

We are participating in the Magic Bands and Fast Pass+ trial as well. For those in the trial right now, the one tip I would offer if you are making changes to existing Fast Pass+, try both options: Change all (start from scratch) and Change existing (when you change either one experience or time), I have found out that different choices come up for the same day and same park. I was finally able to get FP+ to Illuminations and Fantasmic, which seem to be the hardest ones to get on a daily basis.

Thanks for posting your information about the Magic Bands and FP+ tests. I have a feeling they might be up and running by the time we return to WDW in December, so I want to get ready for the big change.

I have mostly avoided reading any of the threads about the new Magic Bands, but I did find one that was rather interesting, since it claimed to be from a true designer. This is the first post in that thread:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=49062690#post49062690
Just what you wanted - another thread on FP+. (But let's face it, a guaranteed way to get your thread read is to say you have some information.)

On Monday, I got the following from a long-time WDI staffer who participates in a different online community, and who has been involved at the deepest levels of designing how the new MM+ system will be designed, deployed, tested, and, eventually, fully implemented. Not just someone who's been given a fact sheet to respond to phone calls and emails. I have no reason to believe she's blowing smoke or saying anything just to cover her own bases.

Yes, we are in trial runs of several new ways to exploit the newer and
better electronics. Yes, some of these trials have limits (like 3
advance passes per park per day, no park hopping). These limits are
based on actual guest usage patterns. These are trial runs and meant to
help us understand how the general guest uses the FP - while at the same
time making sure we don't get in the way of other guests, using the
older methods.

The premise is that we can take some <percentage> of the FPs available
in the parks and turn them over to the vacation planners, to be used as
a perk for pre-planning one's stay (and/or for staying on property). The
goal is to minimize the impact of doing that to the already successful,
current program.

In the end, one will still be able to walk into a park and get FPs, just
like we can today. In the end, using pre-arranged FPs will only affect
one's usage in that one park (park hopping allowed). In the end there
will be ways to cancel and rearrange <some> pre-arranged FPs, to go
along with one's change in plans.

The FP is not a reservation. It does not hold up other guests or
contribute to attraction loading unless it is used. The new "system"
allows us to dynamically modify an attraction's loading pattern, right
up to the last second. This will take some getting used to (for us) but
it in no way means that we want to change the rules.

BTW, we don't expect pre-arranged FPs to be a major item. Studies have
shown us that the majority of our guests don't want to pre-plan their
vacations to that level. On the other hand, and for a while, it might
seem different, as we test out all the new capabilities of the system
(and by "system" I mean the whole new core operations system, not just
the FP part of it).

This may change a few perspectives. (Then again, probably not . . . ) Remember that all the references to "we" and "us" means the park operations folks, not the DISboarders or the general public.

One of the big takeaways I see here is that some of the differences between the tests and the full rollout are reflective of the knowledge that a limited test is different from a full deployment. The tests are designed to address particular questions that need to be answered before full deployment, and that may best be done by having the system operate differently in some ways than is intended for the final version.

Also, the last paragraph is particularly interesting. Remember that Disney surveys and focus-groups *everything*.

Sure, it still leaves a number of questions unanswered. But her intent wasn't to comprehensively preview what FP+ is going to be.

OK, enthusiasts and skeptics alike, have at it!

I checked out your blog and I'm glad you had a good trip. I love reading positive reviews about my favorite resorts because in some ways it validates my own opinions about them. :goodvibes

Epcot is our favorite park, too, which is why it is so nice to stay in an Epcot area resort. The BC is our favorite, mostly because of the Marketplace and location, but the YC is nice, too. I hope you can find lots of reasons to stay here again. And good luck in the TOT Ten Miler. It sounds like a lot of fun. :)

Hello,
I checked in to Beach Club yesterday, water/lagoon view, 2nd floor and I have a brand new refrigerator.

So where are the pictures of the new refrigerator? Exterior? Interior? Interior with a familiar object inside so that we can judge size? Freezer compartment?

(You didn't think you could just mention it and then go enjoy your vacation, did you?)

I've been reading for a while now, and trying to figure out who TeenaS is, finally I find out! A greeter at BC, am I correct? I'll be there in 37 days! Can't wait! Maybe I'll see you!

I call Matthew. Tom can be Johnny. Thanks for the compliment. Actually, I've always told people that when they make the movie of my life, I want Paul Rudd to play me.
