I would definitely go. I've never been to the California park but have been to the Magic Kingdom. I'd go no matter what I got to do just so I could see "the original".

Exactly how I feel YCFan.... "the original" I LOVE DL so if I had the chance I would be there without thinking twice!!

AliceIn: nothing could keep me away!!! I say head over and enjoy what you can :)

Anyone ever stopped at the Hess station near Beach Club? Do they sell 12 pack of soda. looking for Dr. Pepper or Diet Coke. It is a walkable distance or do you need to take a taxi. Garden Grocer is out as this is all I need.

I have walked to the Hess station before. Walked out the Epcot secret entrance of BC towards the Boardwalk. I walked out the lobby of the Boardwalk and through the parking lot, across the street and to the station. Probably 10-15 min walk

About to start packing!!!! We drive to our airport hotel tomorrow afternoon, then Friday at 7:50a.m. it's take off time!!!!

I am so excited to get back " home" that I'm not sure why I should even go to the office tomorrow!!! I'll be useless :)

Just a quick question. Are Yacht Club rooms being renovated next year as well? I noticed the BC was discussed quite a bit so just curious about the YC! Thank you!

YC will be renovated. Not sure of order. BCV may be after BC or it could be YC. But BC is definitely first.

Yep. It was a "surprise" that it was there I had just popped on to purchase PP+ and let DD6 know how many days were left and there was a large pop-up staring me in the face. I too spent a good hour or so figuring things out. It is still on there today and I "finished" the last 4 days of our trip. I figured at the most I'm going to be out those 2 hours and at best I have FP+. I am not sure why IT would have let that "cat out of the bag" if it wasn't "for real" that would be too huge of a mistake. One never knows though.

I read on another thread that they are sending the email 17 days prior to arrival. We'll see how true that is.

I am however wondering if Teena knows anything about this August testing stuff?

I've got a reservation at the BC in August and asked the same question to one of the CMs that is participating in the testing. She had no idea if there would be testing during August at the Y&B.

Hi guys - we're back!
Just peeking out from the mountain of laundry!

Lots to report. One of the highlights was the Wishes Dessert Party on July 3rd. Great preview 4th of July fireworks and great company. Teena and Lauren were able to join us an we had a fantastic time.

Here's something you never would have guessed. Originally we had a split stay booked, first hald GF, second half BC. DH complained that he didn't want to have to switch since we were flying instead of driving. So we booked the whole trip (16 nights) BC CL. We had to do two separate reservations since Disney wouldn't let us book more than 14 nights one one reservation.

Anyway, we went over to Narcoosee's for dinner and saws the new pool and walked around the grounds and the kids started getting nostalgic. When they were young we always stayed at the GF or Poly to be on the monorail.
Anyway we decided to see if we could still do the split stay. We ended up staying the first 9 nights BC CL and then switched to a tpv room at the GF for the last seven nights. Had a fabulous castle view room!

Our weather wasn't great in the beginning of our trip. Lots of rain and cool temps. Of course it was crazy that back home (NJ) they had record high temps! Starting getting better 5th days. Last two days lots of rain again.
We made the best of it and got good use out of our ponchos.

I saw Dee reported that SAB was open until 11:00. Same when we were there.

Had lunch at Beaches and Cream and dinner at Cape May and Captain's Grille. B&C and CMB were great as usual. Capt's Grille was just ok. We originally were scheduled to go to Coral Reef that night but a downpour kept us in. We were lucky to be able to get in anywhere!

CL breakfast offerings were the same as usual - just the right thing to get you off to the parks early in the morning.l Same wonderful chips and dip and yogurt covered pretzels. I was surprised that the evening appetizers were labeled anymore. Seemed like a lot more repeats than usual and evening desserts really seemed cut down. On our first night though had a wonderful surprise when they had oreo bon bons for the CL dessert. DD was ecstatic!
CL staff was always helpful and friendly.

The only glitch of our trip was mousekeeping. The room was definitely nice and clean when we checked in - no issues at all. We always request early service since we usually hit the parks at rope drop. Out of the nine nights we had four days where we came back at 3:00 to unmade rooms. Also had problems with mousekeeping not leaving hardly any towels, forgetting coffee etc. We did call housekeeping and report these things but didn't want to make a big deal out of it. I never like to dwell on things that might bring us down on vacation.

We went to BOG once for dinner and once for lunch. We all liked the dinner much better than the lunch. We were seated in the West Wing for dinner and ballroom for lunch. Great atmosphere!

Dee - hope you are having a fabulous time!

Any questions?

So glad you had a great trip!!:cool1: I have a question about BOG. What was it you liked better about the dinner? The food selection, location? We have plans to hit it for lunch but might try to see if we can get one of those coveted "cancellations" for dinner... Thanks!

quick intro...

Our August trip will be my 6th, DW 3rd. First trip with the twins outside the womb. I have posted here a bit about 13 years ago but under a different handle that I can't remember. I mostly lurk to get an idea of what is going on in the World while preparing for my next vacation. We are a moderate type of family really enjoying POR. I've also stayed at AS, CSR and FQ when it was Port Orleans. Actually booked 2 rooms at POR for this trip until i found an offer i couldn't refuse. pretty excited to be jumping into the deluxe pool. Generally an off season traveller with all other trips being december or late january/early february. Daycare is closed the last week of august and the crowd calendars say it won't be too crazy so why not road trip to Florida? It might be cold up here 9 months of the year but the others can be pretty tropical. right now it is 90 with a dewpoint of 70. the heat is a concern (along with a rogue hurricane) but we know what we got ourselves into so it won't be a surprise and i think we can handle it.

Good info here and thank you all for sharing. I probably won't be too active but will try and share my experience.

Welcome to you! This thread is so awesome! I have learned so much from it and the people are so kind, knowledgeable and FUN!!:cool1:

I think I read on here or another thread that TigerluvsPooh walks to Hess.:thumbsup2

Thanks to everyone for making this a friendly and informative thread. I am guilty of lurking so wanted to come out of the shadows to say hi! We were engaged at DW in 2001 and are going back for the first time since on 9/24 thru 10/1 and then Universal a few days. We are thrilled to bring our DS (5) and DD (7 turning 8 during our trip). I really appreciate all the tips. Of course now my DH refers to this as "that Disney site" as in "are you still reading that Disney site?" Guess who is the planner in this family?

Now this sounds like my DH!!:rotfl2::rotfl2: He just walks by me at the computer and rolls his eyes...Welcome!!

Quick question, I don't have a balcony or view preference but I fear a hallway of mazes or getting stuck next to a noisy elevator. I asked for closest to Epcot for accessibility and I asked for a higher floor because I was worried about ground noise. However, I am starting to fear a hallway of mazes to get in and out of the resort. If there is something else I should specify that would be great. Is a room near Epcot the same as a room rear the back door to Epcot?

Thanks again!

Here is an old floor plan of the third floor of the Beach Club. Some of the room numbers and categories may have changed, but the location of the elevators and doors have remained the same.

I'm not exactly sure if you would call this a maze of hallways, but the hallways aren't too confusing.

A room request close to Epcot should put you close to the secret exit, next to room 1501. It is very quiet on the Epcot side of the resort, since there are only rooms and a wooded area over there. The biggest noise will come from people walking in the halls. If you are at the Epcot section you probably won't have to worry about the elevator noise. :)

I hope you enjoy your first BC visit. It is a great resort. :thumbsup2

HBGdancermom - We liked the food selection better at dinner.

Ocalla - have a magical trip!

Teena - so how was California?

California was wonderful. Everybody enjoyed it and loved the time together. Lily loved it and was very upset Bob and I didn't go with them in the car when they left to go home. But it was nice telling her we'd see her in two weeks.

Every time an airplane flew overhead, she said, "Airplane going to Mickey." She thinks I live with Mickey and knows I come to visit her on an airplane and then she has flown to see us twice so therefore every plane is going to see Mickey.

I am staying at the YC starting 8/16.

I booked with a travel agent and stumbled across it when I sign in on the website. I read the boards, chatted online and called Disney about them. I learned that my agent probably got my email. There is no pin code in the email

I was worried about planning out my day and choosing FP+ before I see the crowds/weather. The CM on the phone said (off the record) during this test phase ... was that we will still get a KTTW card when we check in. He said plan the FP+ because I would still be able to use the KTTW to get regular FPs.
I hope he is right.

Well that is interesting. I hope it's right!! But that's not what it says on the WDW site. It specifically says that if you have the FP+ you can not get any regular FP's. Which I don't necessarily think is right, since you are limited to only 3 FP+'s a day, and you could potentially get more regular FP's in a day.

I do hope we get a KTTW card along with the Magicbands. It would just make me feel better since the Magicbands are still in the test phase and something could go wrong.

That is so cute that she thinks you live with Mickey!! :goodvibes

She does!!!????? Doesn't she ????? :)

She really thinks Nanny lives with Mickey. We got to the house first in Newport Beach and then about an hour later they pulled up. I ran and opened the back door to get her out and she was shouting, "Nanny, Mickey, Pop-Pop????" She sees me and thinks automatically Mickey is with me. However, she's smart enough to understand when they pick me up at the airport that Mickey didn't come with me at the airport. She knows he's back with Pop-Pop.

She's discovered Belle now ... her first princess she loves. I told her we were going to have breakfast with Belle and she was very excited. I can't wait to see what she does.

We also arrive on the 16th at the YC & booked the awesome deal through a travel agent. I contacted our agent & while she didn't say anything about an email, she told me to go ahead & customize our magic bands (reminding me to change the shipping address) and schedule our fast passes. I went ahead & did Fast Pass+ for our 1st 4 park days. It was pretty easy & I figure if its all for nothing at least it was kinda fun and occupied my time while I wait patiently (?) for our trip to get here. That would be bonus if we also got KTTW cards as well. Whatever the outcome is, it will all be good since we'll be at Disney!

Do all BC club level rooms have full balconies? My kids have all asked and I am not sure. I know they would like to be able to sit out there once they have put their kids down to sleep.

About 95% do on the fifth floor. The deluxe rooms (on first, second, third and fourth floors) I think it's about 50% and the suites are on all floors and again, I'd guess about 50%.

we check into YC 8/27 how come I am not allowed to customize our bands what am I doing wrong? Ot Make FP ressies?
